My BIOS version now reads 012.020.000.032

Can I assume I can now install Catalyst 10.8 or 10.9?

    GPU-Z should show : 012.020.000.032.038352

mm there are no catalyst 10.9 for mobility (unless you use a modified version) :p, You can install 10.8.

FYI, there are no mobility drivers for 10.9. The word is to hold out for 10.10.

10.7a's considered as the most stable for games for most, although some can run 10.8 without issues. Like me for instance.

The results of the Catalyst update to 10.8 were suprising -

Under the old VBIOS and stock drivers my 3dmark score was 13061

Under the new VBIOS and 10.8 its 12255 3DMarks

    SM 2.0 Score
    4928
    SM 3.0 Score
    5688
    CPU Score
    3420

The beta vBios gives lower performance (at least on my machine) and the 10.8 drivers also give lower performance than 10.7a.
I highly recommend using 10.7a until something better comes out.

Chastity does this mean that there won't be a vbios directly from Asus with overdrive enabled? If so I might as well go load yours.

Nope. There will be no "official" vBIOS release on Asus' Support Site. So yeah, if you want Overdrive, may as well use my release.

Unless you are messing with Overdrive, it will not do anything different. I am running it now and it's been working just fine.

Overclocking the card may raise the temps a bit depending on the OC and how far you can push it. My first one made it up to 780+Core, this new one can only go to 740 core :(

Still get a P8500 Vantage score but its nothing like the P9110 I got with my first one.

On my first system. An OC to the core and mem to 780/1080 = +2-3C

On my current system it may be within +-1C (740/1040)

My GPU temps are around 83C max load at all stock.

Having Overdrive enabled in the vBios is going to do nothing to temps. If you use it and OC they may go up. If you don't, then there will be nothing different from it to the normal vBios (save the Core/Mem speed changes Chastity did to the 2D clocks and such)

and you use the overdrive tab to set those speeds or you use AMD GPU clock? Can you do OC to the Gary's v93 via AMD GPU Clock?

Yes, the tool works but my OC was less stable once the new BIOS was implemented. I dropped back to stock and haven't had an issue since. I was only using 705/1100 and I'm back to 700/1000.

    Cheers,

check if the name in the bat file match with the vBios Names...can be either .bin o .rom.

also make sure the three files are there: atiflash.exe, the bat file and the bios for either Gary's or Chastity's package

if you want to use chastity roms just follow the instruction from first post. Don't mess the update with files from different packages.....

    Again, you need 3 files:
    vBios.rom (either chastity or gary's)
    atiflash.exe
    wherevername.bat

make sure that IN THE BAT FILE, which is a simple txt, says: "ATIFlash -p 0 vBIOS.bin" or "ATIFlash -p -f 0 vBIOS.bin" (the -f is to force the update, make sure you grab the package with the last atiflash version)

Bios 211, drivers 10.8..... windows has told me my ati driver have failed..they quit working. This has happened several times. What i did was just reset the pc and didn't have any warnings. The drivers were loaded every time i booted up. Should I just completely uninstall everything that has to do with ATI then reinstall control center.. drivers, alll that? If someone has come across the same issue..any advice would be helpful.

hello ppl, i too have a g73jh and after much research on forums and such, i found this topic, and finally got rid of the vertical stripes "crash"
using the vbios provided. im using catalyst 10.8, and it runs fine, even furmark, no crashes with anything, so far anyway.

One thing is bothering me, my crysis game on high settings, and 1024x768 resolution runs at about 30 fps avg, do you think this is normal? below average?

Crysis is the worst game to compare performance, since its code is NOT SCALABLE. You never get high fps at highest setting regardless your rig or the resolution that you use.

No this is not normal. I get around 34 average on 1080p on high settings for Crysis and on gamer settings for Crysis Warhead about 30 FPS.

Crysis does average about 2 trillion polygons per second :p

What's with the jumpy Core Clock in the 93vbios? One moment its 405, than its 700 again lol. On what moments does it jump to 700? Can we adjust this? Has it somethin to do with the CCC profiles ? If anyone could make a mini-guide, it would be helpfull, since the forum is stuffed with people who wanne know how to set their clocks at exact moments, but they are simply to ignorant (like me).
    Thx again homies!

Thats powerplay - as GPU load increases/decreases, so do the clocks ;).
If you want to keep it at 700/1000 all the time just untick "Enable Powerplay" in CCC, but if you want to modify what clocks it uses when powerplay is enabled, you have to modify the clock profiles in the vBios with RBE and reflash it, but thats risky if you dont know what youre doing and choose incompatible clocks.

Its not a problem. Its dynamic clocking enabled by the new vBios that clocks down in 2D, and clocks up in 3D.

Somebody should really add these commonly asked questions to the main post.
