The only way i know was to restart. Although maybe logging out then logging in might also work. Not too sure.

Is there any way to use Powerplay and Overclock at the samte time? I imagine it like i have 200mhz idle, 300mhz UVD and my overclocked 780 in 3d. Is that possible? Currently I have both turned on, but i still have 780mhz according do gpuz.
BTW I have too experienced some lags in LoL, I have 60-80 FPS and it sometimes lags for a second and I am sure it is not Internet issue. It is nothing serious, but I can't compare since I was playing LoL only a little on old vbios. -
Bios 211, new Vbios, and Caty 10.8 are now all installed. One hour of SC2 and running without error.
The new drivers fixed all the issues I was seeing with SC2 too actually, lol. Very pleased so far. -
*Noob* <<< So I follows the directions for Chasity vbios flash but as soon as i enter updateod on the command line i get please restart to complete the process and I shut down my laptop manually was this right or did i have to enter some sort of restart command???
-
You did it right.
I was previously having no issues with my G73, been GSOD free since February. I waited until today, after a few more success (or non-negative) reports came in to make any changes to my system. I updated from 209 --> 211, and changed from the stock VBios to the OD unlocked Beta VBios, and went from 10.7a to 10.8.
I was a little worried that I shouldn't risk anything on my perfectly stable machine, but went ahead with it anyway. The flashing went smooth, other than I had trouble with the USB drive not showing up in the boot list. It took me a few minutes to figure out on the "save & exit" screen that there was a "boot selection" which allowed me to boot my USB flash drive straight from the BIOS.
My clocks are behaving as expected, it's nice to have the different clocks for idle, 3D, and videos now. My idle temps have dropped from the previous 56-57 down to 50-52, which is a welcome change. Gaming temps seem the same, after 2 hours of Mafia II 85* on Shader, 90* on Mem/IO (still on stock TIM)
Thanks for the hard work Gary & Co, I hope we get to keep you around a bit longer! -
Ahh Thanx I was freaking out I did something wrong quick noob question what should the new Vbios version be on the bios under the Bios version??? Just to make sure.
-
Umm...I don't experience GSOD.. Do I need to update too? (for better performance?)
Thank you. -
If you aren't getting GSOD, don't worry so much about it. Still can't really hurt to install it thoug.
-
To see your video bios version, open ATI Catalyst Control Center (CCC) then click Graphics, Information center, Graphics Hardware. Here you can see the video bios version, part number and date.

i was waiting that this new Vbios fixed that, but I'm seeing that it still happens, and maybe the problem it's on catalyst itself..
EDIT: for example, when i'm playing GRID (the most easy track to test that it's the 24H le mans) it freezes for 1 or 2 seconds, the screen does freezes, but the game continues and that means i will crash.. -
I've bought a new G73 a few weeks ago and it's been running great and I've had absolutely no problems. Should I go through with applying this fix and updating drivers? Is it possible that this is an unstable fix and the problems return soon?
-
Updated yesterday to beta vBios. I went from Catalyst 10.1 -> 10.8. Played SC2 for several hours, 0 problems to report. Temps are about the same. I would say I got a few fps performance boost in sc2 and gameplay is noticeably smoother with everything cranked up to ultra. Before the new vBios I would GSOD on anything other than stock and 10.1 drivers. I'm on BIOS 209 too, btw.
Thanks Gary and everyone else who worked on this! -

So, when unplugging on Chastity's overdrive vBIOS, the clocks go down to 250/500, but I end up getting the screen flicker when it does. It dosn't flicker on any of the other speed transitions.
Doing a youtube video and clocks go to 500/1000 as they are supposed to.
I may try Hellcry's low vBIOS as using the AMD GPU Tool I can run at 100/150... It won't transition for youtube without locking up when clocked like that, so does that mean that it won't work using Hellcry's low vBIOS? -
so what does this vbios change? voltage to gpu increased??
if i run fine right now with 705/1005 amd gpu clock tool using 10.8 is it worth upgrading? -
Cheers, -
new vbios seems to be working great, but something I just noticed is that Overdrive is no longer in my Catalyst Control Center.. Is that as intended or can I get it back by reinstalling 10.8?
-
Sitrep: Everything (BIOS 211, latest VBios, and CCC 10.8) installed without a hitch, but running Furmark for 2' now and my GPU temp is up to 90. And my fans are screaming like banshees. Do I need a repaste or am I OK. I have yet to try out BC2 or other games I frequent...
-
k, so after trying to watch a video, it was giving me a hard time so its time I tried out the new vbios.
So after I used the hp tool (browsed to the dos content), at this point, my flash drive should be bootable correct?
so I moved the flash exe, vflash, and the BR38352.001 onto my flash drive. at this point I just restart right? I must of done something wrong cause I'm not seeing an option to choose my flash drive as a way to boot in the bios. -
-
Update: Played RUSE for upwards of 1 hr with no problems. It's not the most graphics-card-destroying of games, but hey.
-
also, how can i check my vbios version to make sure I did it successfully? What should it read?
edit - I used direct x D tool and I'm seeing 876200 on 8/3 day. Is this correct? Just wasn't sure. It said "restart to finish" so as said in first post, I removed usb stick, restarted, but forgot to wait 10 seconds but I'm sure its not a big deal. I was just confused by the C:/ at the end.... -
Had my first GSOD today while playing Starcraft II Campaign and so I checked here, then behold a fix already! LOL Talk about timing! flashed to 211 and updated the vBios, replayed SCII, no GSOD, EPIC! Thanks Gary and to all that helped make this possible.
-
So is it safe to say that this vBios works fine with BIOS 0209 as well ? A bunch of ppl have confirmed this but I'd just like to know if anyone is having problems with this combo.
Thanks ! -
I Updated my G73 kit to include new vBios.

OMG! It Works!
-
I don't see any reason why you shouldn't use BIOS 211. I'm using it for a day now and so far I don't see any drawbacks.
-
The link for the win 7 lock ups is

First time poster. Just thought I would mention that the the new VBios is working for me as well.
I am using the OD version with bios 209 (too lazy to update for the nonce) and I had 10.8 pre-installed before the update (didn't know about all of the GSOD problems because mine only started very recently and the system itself is quite new).
I was getting frequent stripey lockups playing DoW2 and BFBC2 and the problem got worse as time went on. Towards the end it was doing a GSOD every 5 minutes.
Now I've been able to play consistently without problems. Can't comment on the performance much, if anything things feel the same/slightly slower. -
now since GSOD already fix, next project is missing keystroke pls
-
So my bios version is 211 and I believe I have updated my vbios successfully (just need someone to confirm on my earlier post). I played Kampfer in blue ray (which for me was gsod haven) for about 30 minutes and no gsod
to make sure the new vbios is working, I let the whole series play last night (max 12 eps so about 4.8 hours) and its still onMy laptop is no longer locking up thanks to the windows 7 lockup fix. My temps while playing a video was a little high imo but withen the safe zone (up to 72c max).
My G73JH-A1 is finally how it should of been when I first got itOf course, I didn't have as many issues as most. I'm proud to have spent over $1645 on it now. I can't say the same for others though.
Now running bios 211, new vbios, and drivers 10.8 without any issues. Thanks to Gary, Chastity, and the team for working on the fix.
edit - with everyones g73 working now, I suspect it will get boring around here now. Threads are already slowing down. -
Day two of the new 211/vbios/10.8 setup. Starcraft 2 has been running non-stop, no GSOD's, lockups, or graphical errors of any sort just yet.
-
I'm so happy you guys all got your fix. This is great news. Now we can move along to more pressing issues like... um... wait, are there any pressing issues left?
-
Still keyboard lag to tackle, though Gary is working on it.
MarkS 's suggestion worked for me- dunno how I missed the Escape option.USB legacy support was already on in the BIOS, so not sure why it didn't see it before.
Anyway, I like that I don't really have to use PowerPlay shortcuts to get the cooler or gaming speeds, but I wish Gary's clock and mem speeds were a little lower. I understand why he did it though- some are able to handle lower than others. I tried Hellcry's medium and almost had to blindflash to get it back-it artifacted and generally just crapped out. This isn't a criticism of the BIOS settings at all- just make sure folks that are going to try it follow his instructions and test speeds first. I thought I was ok as 200/500 was always ok before. -
-
Update- Download Package updated to include most recent version of atiflash. After one long trip home and the loss of my primary drive I am back finally.
I will be caught up on messages and replies later today.
-
One thing id like to ask Gary - how is the work with the Synaptics drivers (to solve the keyboard issues) going - will you have a beta for us anytime soon?
-
All my games playable now on high...no GSODs after 4 hours!
Plus with my keyboard lights back on...life is good.
Thanks again Gary!! My notebook no longer feels broken. -

Does flashing to 211 void the warranty, specially if it bricks in the process? i want to flash cause the gsod is killin me but i got the 4 year asus warranty with the lappy and id hate to void it. Thanks for the help

One question: now when I go into AMD GPU tool and hit "restore defaults" it sets 300/1000 ... is that the desired behaviour? When I reboot, it is at 700/1000 though. -
Thanks Gary & Chastity for all your hard work. Now if only I had my laptop, it's been at RMA since last Friday
