Why 1366x768 screen though? I would buy it with 1600x900 screen in a heartbeat, well if pricing is reasonable. My guess is < $1200. Would be great if they had an initial release promo at $999, but I doubt it.

Step down in power from the G46, but then there's a nice 150 dollar rebate right now (expires tomorrow). And the real question about power is: Can it do what you want it to do?
So I checked this awesome resource:
Computer Games on Laptop Graphic Cards - Notebookcheck.net Tech
and answered yes. -
Nice. You went from potentionally getting a Class 1 GTX card into a Nvidia 620m? You could have gotten a mid-range card class 2 card like a GT 630m with the Asus U46SV but I guess you don't need this for gaming. -
Well im still going to wait for this.. My roommate works for bestbuy and i can get the pricing so much earlier in a couple weeks even.. So that will be awesome ill let you guys know.
-
-
oh man why did you have to go to best buy, i hope boutiques like xoticpc get it quick, im betting they would be the only ones with alternative LCDs where as best buy you get stuck with that base config all the time
-
Wow i cant wait to see a review of this thing and the price point! I would gladly trade my ge60 for a 14inch laptop
). 1600x900 looks good to me! hope the speakers are the same level as the ge60. also gtx660m running games in 1600x900= awesome.

Found another video on youtube:
Apskats: Asus ROG s
I believe it's in Latvian. There's some gameplay footage at around the 3:00 mark. Man, this laptop has everything I've been looking for. Well, except for the resolution... -

In the Video you can see the bottom of this laptop at 2:37. The cooling system might be quiet in the beginning but after months without cleaning the vents it will be louder.
Asus always does the same mistakes: Not using MXM Slots for the GPU (in G5x and G7x series) and making the maintenance very hard. I prefer clevo...
Also the HD Screen is not the best choice, a 1600x900 screen would be way better. -
-
Definitely it is a good notebook, especially the GTX 660M in 14" -

Yup, upgrading RAM and HDD are easy along with cleaning fan dust.CPU and depending on what MXM for the GPU cards they use is another story.
-
Why cant ASUS do it the same way with its other G-series models. It would be very fine and for me, it is a reason to buy or Not buy a laptop if the cleaning of a laptop is very complicated. Thats why i love Clevo: Easy maintenance and fair prices
---> The G75VW is very positive, but the G55VW is not so fine. Using a dust filter is definately a good idea, but these filters have to be cleaned aswell. -
Damn being released in December with higher res options coming even later? Such a long wait
-
This is one nice machine! I really hope that they come out with a 900p option to match the GTX 660M.

Does anyone know how many cell's this laptops battery is going to house? I don't know if I missed it but I skimmed through the thread and didn't see it. I did see 6260 mAh on one of those links with specs.

In the french review they say : " ASUS nous a cependant indiqué que d'autres versions seraient disponibles dès la fin d'année et devraient grimper en 1600 x 900 pixels " --> ASUS told them, that there will be other versions available at the end of the year that will offer the 1600x900 pixel display. Very nice, the 900p screen makes it a lot better!
Also the price at the beginning will be 1099€. I think that is a quite high price, if not too high...
(the lenovo y580 with similar specs 799€ ) -
Sorry for double post

the asus g55vw was 1199$ so i think thats about right where it should be at 1099. lenovo y580 1080 starts at 999$, and i dont know much but probably has inferior cooling to keep cost low (one fan vs 2)??? the 900p version would probably bump the cost up to the price range of 1199$ as well. Hopefully black friday, we can see maybe 100$ price reduction. Its a new laptop so expectedly, it should start out higher than what it will be a couple months down the road.
-
The 1600x900 resolution will definitely be welcomed as the GTX 660M combination to this will make this a very potent machine. So the only thing currently holding this back from being a huge home run of a laptop is the price.
I hope it'll be more friendlier. -
Was definitely intrigued by this until I saw the resolution. YUCK
-
-
Can we buy it now or is it preorder it says add to cart..
-
-
-
why not a lenovo y400, hate how now im waiting for all this information to come in, if only lenovo told us whether or not the y400 can have SLI capabilities and whether or not a higher rez screen is available in the future.

any news considering the G46VW?
-

I'm also interested in this laptop as soon as Thunderbolt models ship with a 900p screen or better. Does anyone know if major resellers will get them this holiday season? ie: Xotic, Gentech, PowerNotebooks, etc?

Looks interesting. 14inch would be much more compact and portable!

It's just a shame about the resolution, 1600x900 would have been nice.
