Installed the latest bios and so far everything has been running perfectly. I had the bios from December, so not sure what has changed since then

Haven't noticed anything yet, but mine ran perfect even with the first bios. The fan noise is a major improvement. Sometimes I'm not even sure if my laptop is on or not, its that quiet. Temps are the same too!

so has anyone had the problem where the cpu/gpu dont seem to obey the Gaming center, so i'll have it set to either manual or extreme and sometimes i have to restart the game in order get it to "stick" like during gaming right now its at like 2.2ghz, if i restart one or two times it'll finally catch 4.4 when i open Gaming center then hold it during all my games.

also is there any other forums or owners clubs for this laptop, i have not found anything besides this, and it doesnt seem populated given the price tag

What clocks on CPU/GPU are you guys running and what Temps are you seeing in games? i'm currently at 4.5ghz on cpu and +150/+300 on gpu
Seeing CPU peaking for short periods at 80 and averaging around 70-75c and GPU under 70 almost always. LM CPU and ICD GPUs

Why can't we buy this laptop without a water cooling unit? Why did Asus cancel G800VI(K) project with single 1080 GPU.

My budget would be exactly enough for such 18.4' laptop, however, I do not have neither the budget or a place to put the laptop with the water cooling system on my table...

    Remember he's on LM!
That's at least 10C drop compared to traditional paste like Kryonaut.
I have LM on my 7820HK @ 4.5 ghz too and get similar temps. voltage is 1.10-1.14v (this is MSI GT73VR).

Wow, the Asus GX800 BGA CPU is way ahead of the Sagar NP9873 LGA CPU in Cinebench single and multi-threaded tests :)

When I saw this video, I felt that something is not right specially for the SAGER NP9873, my DM2 laptop minimum score in CINEBENCH was 1006 with 6700k, how come 802 came from? I don't like those results, and with all my respect Linus didn't say anything about the RIO and prices comparisons to be clear for his audience.

He had the older skylake P870DM3. OC the 6700K to 4.5/4.6 (after delidding) it gets 1000

Anyone who knows how to tweak would also lower the voltage on the gx800 turbo mode too so it's a pretty useless comparison video tbh

And no real comparison of screens, passing mentions of features, it was basically all big gaming laptops are stupid herpa derp.

Anyone sent this laptop for repair ?

    I've sent it twice.
First time, laptop keep stuttering. They decided to sent me replacement unit (refurbished one)
Second time, I can't boot into windows and very long time wait till it go into BIOS. It's already passed 10 days turnaround time and it is not finished yet

not much to say..... just arrive to me with 1 yr delay. It looks the right one for me...(also because I payed much less than the original price)
I' still understanding the gpu oveclocks. Not convinced yet how to change for them the out-of-pack overclock config.

Until 2080 is coming on notebook ....and even after it is a nice beast....

I am an owner for more than one year - no serious issues. The only problem so far the numbers on the keyboard are quite often too sensitive - typing multiple "11111" instead of "1".

I am very pleased with the puter. The cpu does get quite toasty off the dock playing some cpu intensive games, but is fine when in the dock.

    Nothing in the 18.4" / GX line, only the G703 / GL703 17.3"'ers with 8th gen CPU's, so far:

    https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-G703/Tech-Specs/
    https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-Strix-GL703/Tech-Specs/
    https://www.asus.com/Laptops/Gaming-Series-Products/

Kinda disappointed Asus hasn't responded with another 18.4" / GX laptop for so long... maybe Asus was / is waiting for the "next-gen" Nvidia / AMD GPU's before doing another design? I hope so. :)

I don't use Windows 10, but with previous versions of Windows I'd wait for the drivers to catch up with the new release before updating. Block the update and hunt for driver updates and problems with drivers you have loaded with the new 1809 release after it comes out. It usually takes a few weeks for the drivers to stabilize and for everything to catch up to the update environment.

Windows 10 updates are the worst, so I'd put'em off as long as possible just on that alone. :)
