it's interesting, G73JH-RBBX05 can only be found on the Intel First glimpse info. Nothing else on Google yet.
-
Go to firstglimpsemag.com and you can get the whole mag online. It comes with the HD 5870. that's from page 44
-
Since it apparently retains the i7 720 I would guess that the g73 sacrifices the screen, blu ray, and a hard drive in order to meet the price point
-
sounds very nice to me. no point in having blu ray if the screen isnt 1080p.
-
Well the A2 costs $1549 and offers two HDD's, the backpack and mouse, DVDRW (no blu-ray), 8GB RAM, and a 1920x1080 screen.
So you forego one 500GB hard drive, 2GB RAM, backpack and mouse, and most likey get a 1600x900 screen, that would make up the $200 easily. Hopefully it is the $1199 cost, but I don't see $350 less stuff there. -
Don't forget those 10% movers coupons from USPS for BB. Also Bing Cash Back is another way to save some money.
-
what's with the movers coupons? Haven't heard of those.

i only got the specs for the 05- core i7, 6gb ram, 500gb hdd and 1199 .. need confirmation on the 09 which he said looked like would NOT be sold in stores...
again, this was in their system, thats as much information as they have and the 05 is not in stock yet... said they should have had received them by 03/07 -
If they were getting them in 3/7 then maybe they'll be shown in next weeks ads.
-
hopefully, 1200 for me is a bless, paying taxes in Brazil etc i'll still have 300 hundred box for backpack, mouse and games(or a ray-ban aviator i don't know each hahah) going to be awesome!
-
$1199 is a decent price for what you get even if it comes with a lower res screen, at least you better gaming performance. Just getting a i7 720 and HD 5870 is worth it.
The $1599 model probably adds BR drive and the 1080p screen.Just a hunch. -
-
If it uses the same chassis we can put a ssd with the price diffence much cheaper than at the stores but for me weight is important so no extra hdd
-
Any one know were you can buy a "cheap" i7 820QM..
-
-
anyone get a chance to make it up to best buy yet? In the laptop section, get the person working it that day, have him search for G73 in the system and the RBBX09 and 05 versions show up... in the description field it might say what Graphics adaptor for 05 and 09 .. or if you can confirm the specs on the 09 in the description field that would be cool
I'll try to make it up there on Sunday or Monday if I get a chance and have someone search them again. -
Just speculating on the specs.
@dot
Can't make till Tuesday. Working -
I just went up to Best Buy, and had the kid put it in the computer. Unfortunately, I didn't get any more information than has previously been stated. The lower-end model is $1199, and it is available for order, but he couldn't find any more specs on it than we've already gathered.
He suggested to call 1-888-BestBuy. -
Hmm, $1199 isn't a bad deal at all. What does it take to install a second HDD? Do you have to buy some third party adapter or something? I have a 500GB 5400RPM and 320GB 7200RPM lying around here I'd be happy to put in the machine.
-
Anyone going to order one??.. i'm thinking about it... I got some rewards certs, gift cards and a Discover Card Best Buy 10% coupon just came in the mail friday which is for use only in a retail store.
-
I guess I'll call BB corporate on Monday. Somebody...somewhere in the company has to have the specs of this machine. How do they expect people to order it?
In any case, I'm waiting until they actually have them in the stores before I buy. I might as well go with a reseller if I'm going to "preorder" from BestBuy. With all the problem these machines seem to be having, I want to be able to grab one, test it out, and drive it back up there and grab another one off the shelf if something is wrong....or use my 45 day rewardzone Return/Refund option -

Not sure about ES or QS i7 cores.
Seen i7 820QM for around $300 and i7 920XM for a little under $600 which is about half of what a OEM i7 cpu costs.
Soviet has run some tests with ES 920 and said they don't run the same so I'm a little leary getting one of those but I'm thinking the 820's are worth a shot.
Yeah you lose OCing with the 820 but not sure how a ES 920 would be able to OC, so I'm thinking that's the best bet.
I have bought a Shirley Fu ES QX9300 in the past and it worked great so hopefully the i7 are just as good.
Hmmmm.......got to think this over. -

Just saying. Wait until OEMs and start trickling into the market. Once got a used QX9300 for something like $450.

Well its actually a coupon issued by Discover Card, unlike the rwzone silver which include only pc accessories ... I'm reading through the fine print.. I can't use it on bestbuy.com so it has to be used in store... Looking through it doesnt seem to say anywhere that I cant use it on a laptop .. it does say that my purchase excludes tvs under $799, must be used on in-stock items only so no special order
... exclusions on about 20 in store items, none of which say in-stock lappys ... And its for use on one item only.
Looks like I might be waiting for this to show up in the store afterall hehe... -
-
-
However, if someone finds one, please let me know and I'll try to jump all over it!
-
Got my netbook with one. So I wouldn't rule it out, but your right, they don't generally allow you to get it with them. But it has happened.
-
i've been a discover card member since 2001 .. never seen one of these before ... But I was excited to see it in the mail by itself .. if it was with an invoice I would have just shredded and recycled it lol...
Looking forward to at least using it with a laptop.. if Riva used it on a netbook i'm sure I could use it on a lappy. As soon as they start stocking the g73 at least.. mine expires after march 27 I believe -
BB better get them in stock soon then.
I wanna see one in person before it commit, get some hands on time. -
Depending on the price and specs, I may be sold on this over the MSI GX740. I think it would be close to an even trade for what I could get for my Sager if it is $1199.
-
Yes I hope so Ikas
.... This coupon doesnt have much longer ...
Wingnut - you ok with a possibly lower screen res? 1600x900 or 1440x900? I dont recall if we confirmed the screen res in an earlier post -
No specs for what the screen res is going to be but I doubt it's gonna have a 1440x900 and if it's 1600x900 that's perfectly fine.
Just a guess on my part but it will probably come with the 1600x900 screen(just a guess people!) -
Called up 1-888-BestBuy to see if they had any more info. The person I talked to didn't know any more than what we saw on the computer at the store. She even transferred me to Asus, but they knew nothing about about RBBX-05 or -09.
-
Sure they knew nothing.
What a surprise,a ASUS rep not knowing anything about one of there products.
They should be out soon if there in BB system.I hope! -
I stopped in at BB today after work. They initially saw nothing more than that it was in the system. There was a guy who knew the BB system a bit better and looked under additional detail. In Anchorage, Alaska, we're supposed to have it on display 4/4 at both stores. Also he said they can receive the freight a week or two in advance.
So it will be on display in the next 3 weeks and in store any time in those 3 weeks. -
That's interesting quietas. Do you know how he got that additional detail? I'd like to dig into to this a little bit more for my area. Were you able to get any more spec info - specifically the screen resolution?
I wonder who's building these for Best Buy. I would assume that Asus is for such a big retailer. -
The girl at the customer service looked it up for me while I was checking the return policy on laptops for silver members (45 days, verified by 866 reward zone people). He told her to check the Additional Detail page. I guess they have an option for more info. It said the date for placement on the planogram for the SKU which was shown on the Intel first glimpse pdf.
The BB SKU they can find is 9741729. -
Really appreciate all those going out of their way to get additional details... hopefully in the next couple weeks!
-
Boy the date seems to keep getting pushed back, glad I did not choose to wait for BB
-
for $1199, I can wait a couple weeks
..hopefully not much longer than that and hopefully the specs arent dumbed down too much ... probably just the lcd res
-
At least it's a potential stock date.I could wait a couple more weeks -
I'm trying to figure out why you guys think the price will start @ $1199. The only hard evidence points to a MSRP of $1349. I don't understand why BB would lower the price for something that is brand new. Wouldn't hold my breath for the $1199 price.
Also, remember the Gateway P6831FX when it first came out? It retailed for around $1300 as well and I bought a couple months later during a President's Day sale for $1199.
We'll see what the price ends up being in April, but I seriously doubt it'll be $1199 for the lower end model. -
Several people have seen the price of $1199 in Best Buy's internal computer.
-
Also, two times recently I've seen a new computer listed on bestbuy.com for one price, and within a few days/1 week, the price had gone up $80-$100. This happened w/ an HP DV7 and the Sony F11, which went from $1249 to $1349 pretty quickly, so you may not want to wait, or maybe wait a few months for a sale.
