I hate to say it but the techs working on your laptop will never treat it the way you do, they deal in volume and pressure and deadlines so they will probably try and blaze through whatever it is they have to do to your laptop.
Sadly the only person that will take the time, effort and care to see that nothing breaks in your laptop is you. After seeing what the insides of a poorly worked on laptop can look like I do not trust asus techs anymore, I'd rather do the work myself. -
was looking at the xoticpc site and now they are offering 4 year accidental warranties and onsite service, a little late for me but at least ASUS is stepping up their service a little bit.

Creative it's not an issue anymore for me. -
sounds good, i would love to get bass boost back...can you provide a link to the updated version of the creative stuff

The guys at BTO said it could just be that the censor is too close to the ram or something, and that it happens sometimes. Because it never shuts down from the temps, and it nevers feels that hot.
So I dunno. :/ -
So i jsut restored back to factory...are temps higher on the stock drivers? I wanted a clean environment so when the new vbios drops, i can do the cleanest test possible
Ohh and btw, the creative fix seems to work well for me..thanks (another reason i restored back to factory, since i cant reinstall once uninstalled.) -
Idle temps are higher on stock compared to 10.8 + 93vbios, load temps remains the same +/- 1c. At this point there is no recorded downside to running the new vbios.

Update- After one long trip home on Friday and the loss of my primary drive I am back finally. I will be caught up on messages and replies later today.

Hey Gary!
Any updates on the Creative software+keyboard lag? -
New audio Realtek Driver v2.52.. realtek web
-
-
Tested it with Ease Acces Center, STEAM and Ventrilo(all 3 locked up with the default Realtek driver if Bass Boost was enabled in Creative Audio Center) and they didn't freeze the laptop
-
2.51 seemed to have fixed those lockups, and now 2.52 as well.
Seems like the G73 is a late bloomer. -
Edit: Do you guys reinstall the HDMI Audio driver from Realtek as well? -
My question is along these lines too. I've completely uninstalled the Creative software and I was not able to install the software again -
Do I need to uninstall the Realtek - Then install the Creative and then the Realtek.
Thanks for the help!!!
In Peace and Agape,

Thanks guys. 2.52 is installed. Now it is time to put it to work and see if anything is broken!
In regards to the Realtek HDMI driver - what was the final verdict in regards to potential conflicts with the new vBIOS? I recall seeing people reporting back to Gary whether they had it installed or not during his GSOD troubleshooting investigation. So is the definitive answer to have it installed or not? -
This forum had gone almost dead quet as opposed to all of the action of previous days...is this still the right place to be to be waiting on Gary's new vbios and touchpad drivers?
-
The vBIOS is out and thus far seems to be a great success for everyone. The touchpad is still a work in progress. Creative fix was just posted, apparently though I haven't tried it yet. -

Only Synaptic driver+SSD issue remaining.
-
We have a user-made workaround for the SSD, it's only the synaptics stuff now.

It's in my sig guide under optional tweaks

I don't think we will get a real solution for the HM55 chipset which would mean full SSD performance while retaining power saving. The only thing Asus can do is openup the C states in the BIOS to disable power saving.
What I read so far leads me to believe that the HM55 chipset has a design flaw which isn't going to resolved with some software. I would very much like to be wrong about this but the absolute silence from Intel is not good. They know the problem, they just can't do anything about it because it's a hardware design flaw.
Basically the HM55 and PM55 chipset are flawed. Fubarred. -
What you linked isnt really a solution... disabling idle states and making my CPU run at 60C+ just idling is ridiculous.
Tweak it differently and youre loosing SSD speeds again so you just cant have it all as it is now... -

Although I have never heard of flashing your own chipset, so not sure how safe that would be. -
I wonder where Gary has gone off to... He said wed get the new Synaptics to solve our keyboards missing keystrokes issues middle of this week...

I bought 2. It took 6 weeks to arrive by sea turtle and carrier pigeon (shipping costs almost as much as both of them) but it is a perfect fit. Maybe I should post that extra one in the marketplace for big bucks.
Cheers, -
Update-
1. Still working on the missing keystrokes problem. The new Synaptics driver has fixed some systems or modestly helped others at best. Reverting back to the Windows 7 in-box driver works but you lose some of the Synaptics functionality. We are still on it.
2. Working closely with the Service groups on RMA problems to further improve customer service.
3. The G73Jw production units for review have arrived so expect to see reviews up by the end of the month on the NV version of this unit. We will continue to offer the G73Jh for customers desiring the AMD GPU. -

ATI all the way for me as well.

It's now just "AMD" folks
