I'll be frank, I'm using a Synaptics driver provided by HP rather than the ASUS one, because it seems to work better and allows 2-finger scrolling (which I rather like, all other gestures are irrelevant). My only problem with this driver is that the spacebar sometimes doesn't seem to come through. Maybe my problem is a hardware issue? Then again, it did not change at all when I completed my repaste... I would think that damaged hardware might fail worse during a re-installation (weak points might break entirely?) -
My bad
.
I'm old school like that. -
-
Please remember that the RMA problems are not only specific to ASUS service centers in USA, but I hear many such problems from members all around the world. -
-
I have fear of asking them for VBIOS and technical stuff since They said that the solution to the Defective GPUs in g1s was to format the notebook -
i had heard from another forum (a Portuguese one) that a guy made a video showing them that the laptop (g73) was shutting because of high temperatures... and they said that the laptop was working well.. omg..
do you want to know what happened? that same guy requested to return of the money and bought another one (from another brand) -
Many users from asusxperts have had problems with ename, ( Of particular concern was the issue with G1S.)
I think asus should monitor their subcontracted Technical Service Center, because they can give a very poor brand image. -

dude i dont know why people new vbios is not working so far week and half with 10.8 drivers and bios 211 it works great and the only thing im mad right now is the keyboard lag can any one knows how to fix the lag
-
And even so, I distinctly remember a few other users with SetPoint installed but still experience keyboard lag.
FWIW, SetPoint ver 6.00.84, driver version, 4.90.80.
For Synaptics, SynTPEnh.exe and SynTPHelper.exe running in my processes. -
-
Anyways, yeah. Clean installs are easy, and I just assume everyone does one when there is a problem. -

I wondered why Gary hasnt answered any of my pms for over a week even after he said hed catch up on them and after i tried sending him a new pm i got this;
1. Gary Key has exceeded their stored private messages quota and can not accept further messages until they clear some space.
Not really encouraging. -
-
Maybe he's just too busy
-

-
jesus, its been what a week
he knows the problem exists, chill -
Gary has been traveling all week. He's in NY right now for PepCon, and will be 'til Friday. He's playing catchup with his PM's and email.
-
Update-
1. Apologize about the lack of updates but between constant travel and my daughter's illness it has been a hetic three weeks.
2. I will be back in the office tomorrow.
3. I should have an update shortly on another driver for the missing keystroke problem.
4. I will answer my outstanding PMs later today.
5. We are working with Service to improve the RMA process and provide additional support. -
Cheers, -
Seriously though hope you daughter feels better, sick children can be scary. -
-
Wish your daughter gets well soon.
Still hoping for a positive answer to my emails too. -
Same here. Wish ur daughter get's well soon.. its horrendus seeing kids get sick.. didn't like it with my nephew.. must be worse for the parents... Anyways , if u could do something about the UK and europe service , i would be grateful.. touch wood if i have to RMA.. anyways , good to know we'll recieve new drivers.. i have to use hp synaptic ones as asus's ones are old.

You knock it...and knock it hard. -

I am back.
1. Missing Keystrokes is first item on the priority list.
2. Working with HQ and Creative on a MB2 driver update.
3. Hunting down items I missed.
4. Working with Service to improve the RMA experience. -

Does ASUS have authorized service centers in the US or does all service have to be performed by ASUS? Apple has a great network of AASC beyond the Apple corporate stores who provide outstanding service. I'm sure many small independent vendors would provide better personalized support than the two big RMA centers.
Of course I've never had to send an ASUS system in for service so I'm not personally familiar with the issues being discussed on these forums.

Functionality for *needed* functions are a much higher requirement.
I would lke full Powerplay as much as the next guy, but our systems are stable with the vBios.
Just because you don't think you have a keyboard problem, you don't care. There are plenty of us that it is a major issue for. -
Thanks
We'll agree to disagree as I do not agree with you at all. Every G73jh owner has broken PowerPlay. Only you and the few who claim to type 200 WPM have this problem. Also always support, finish something, do it right before moving on to the next problem. -
Ziddy - based on the poll conducted in this forum, clearly the missing keystrokes problem is broader than you characterize it. I agree that if a problem has not been adequately addressed, Gary ought not to leave it hanging but I also suspect that he is not addressing these problems in a vacuum and that there are still technicians working on the video issues.
-
Would you mine detailing how PowerPlay is broken? I hope you are not referring to memory settings when using Overdrive + Powerplay + Overclock speeds.
-
The missing keystrokes problem is much more important to me that have overdrive or powerplay in my g73jh... It is very easy to implement OD and powerplay yourself and there is chasity vbios...
-
@Lord_neno: What cooling solution are you using with that HAF X case? I have a new 950 that is waiting for some OC love.
-
I beg to differ.
According to the POLL, over 60% users are having keyboard issues, not only a few. I dont type 200 WPM and i still have the issue.
Also, powerplay works. Overdrive just isnt supported and i dont see a need for it to be supported. You have AMD GPU Clock tool if you MUST overclock. -
-
Also can the upper panel (the panel that holds the touchpad, speakers and quick buttons) of the JW be used on the JH?
And when you have time id greatly appreciate an answer to my email.
-
I'll post it for you guys when I finish it if you want to use it until we get a good driver. My method is as follows...
1. Hook keyboard, mouse click, and wheel events.
2. Start a timer that counts to a value like 500 milliseconds... I haven't settled on a time value yet.
3. Allow the timer to decay constantly.
4. If the user presses a key reset the timer.
5. If the timer reaches 500ms, go ahead and process mouse clicks and wheel events, otherwise ignore them.
I will probably make the time value user selectable. You will have to turn it off to play games. You would be unable to shoot with the mouse as long as you are pressing movement keys which would suck. I think I will implement a key combo that will allow you to disable the app and also a key combo that allows you to ignore all mouse input for when you are typing long documents.
I need to figure out how to make an app live in the system tray instead of a button on the task bar. I've got a working mock-up, but it's a plain old application. It is hooking input globally so it doesn't need to be the app with focus to work, but it isn't a fancy little icon in running in the tray, yet.
I hope to finish it today or tomorrow. If Gary gets a fix before I finish my workaround that's fine by me. It's a fun little project anyway. I wrote it in C#. It uses one small dll, one small executable, and the .Net framework version 3.5 which I think all Windows 7 machines have. -
You certainly know what your doing.
I wouldnt even know where to begin to make something like this.
Would it be possible you just made one that enables you to disable/enable mouse input (along with scroll) with some hotkey (or clicking something in the tray or launching some executable) instead of it disabling it automatically based on when youre typing? That would really be awesome for me if/until Asus releases something... -
Hmmm, HellCry just ask Ken or Justin if the top chassis from JW fits on the JH. But you would have to check estore.asus.com to see if you can buy it. Pretty sure Asus CS/Tech Support won't sell it to you unless it's available through their eStore.
G73jw isn't in their estore yet and I don't see chassis parts on their site for the jh. -
If you guys want to check your mouse poll rate use this tool:

enjoy
