You could also try to reinstall the driver.
Start > Search for 'Device Manager' and click on it > Mice and other pointing devices > Right click 'HID-compliant mouse' and choose Uninstall.
Use the trackpad to click on the 'Action' menu and 'Scan for hardware changes'.
That should reinstall the driver.
If that doesn't work double click 'HID-compliant mouse' and then try enabling the second option under the 'Power Management' tab.

Good luck to my English and German friends here. May the best team win! I hope some day our team can get to your level but I doubt that will ever happen. Oh well, training camp starts for the NFL soon. Go Seahawks!!!

Alright man,thanks!

My bios version is 213. I checked on Asus website its suppose to be the latest ver. -
Here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-reviews-owners-lounges/494250-asus-n61jq-driver-thread.html
I had a problem before where when I plugged my HTC Diamond 2 phone to a USB port, the Logitech Wave Pro mouse and keyboard connected to another port used to stop working.
Updating the chipset driver fixed that problem for me. -
Hi turbogear
I did install the latest chipset and still the same. -
Hi all I changed to another mouse and it works fine now.
Tks to all who have helped.
I am very happy to come in here as noob and received plenty of help and suggestions. Glad to be in here. Tks. -
So as ZJJXL suggested, it seems that the mouse itself was the problem for you. -
I tried the powerlogic mouse on in laws pc and its ok also.
Maybe Asus dun like powerlogic mouses
Time to explore on what this notebook can do further. -

Is heat in the Asus N61JQ something to be concerned about? Would the CPU/GPU temps possibly shorten the life of this laptop? I know that some people might say that I should put it on a laptop cooler, but I really like to have a laptop on my lap in my big comfy recliner.
A major question for me-->is the bottom of the N61JQ cool enough to use comfortably on my lap? Or is this not a good "laptop" to use on a lap?
I'm trying to decide between this or the N61JV, which runs cooler, but I'm hesitant about Optimus--I don't want to get locked out of a game because the software is confused about the graphics capability of the laptop.
Thanks! -
I have had no heat issues whatsoever with my N61... max temps while playing heavy graphic games (like Crysis or Battlefield Bad Co 2) hover around the 70c (both processor and gpu) give or take a few degrees. That is with a laptop cooler (CoolerMaster Ergo Notepal which has a nice big fan).. but even without it runs relatively cool

Thanks! -

Maybe next time for England, Italy and the US. Congratulations Turbogear!
Go Germany! -
USB3.0
if I disable USB 3.0 Monitor in msconfig (and unload it with task manager) I get 10% speed increase transfer rate approx. Try it and tell me ... -
But it was not totally fair for the English.
The referee made a wrong decision in cancelling one of the two English goals.
The referees did again mistake in Argentina and Mexico match. -
I get gpu temp of 91C while playing l4d 2. How about the others here? Is this normal for a game like this?

Anyone bought any type of accessories for their N61? I got mine last week and tried shopping around for:
1. screen protector - no luck, stores mostly have 15" and 17" in stock
2. Laptop sleeve - managed to find one by Case Logic
3. Keyboard protector - if its true that the N61 vents air through the keyboard, then we can't use a protector ?
4. Cheap NAS - was looking at the DLink DNS-323 but it seems to make better economic sense to build one with FreeNAS -
-
-
91 seems pretty high for l4d2...
-
Well they have received my laptop....again. Anyone want a bet if they will fix it this time lol?
-
-
anyone still working on the backlit keyboard mod? I ordered everything except for the keyboards....
-
"The keyboard for U80V is incompatible with N61Jq and no backlit model for N61Jq temporarily."
I guess "temporarily" is better than "at all". -
Yeh I saw the mods done by folks using the G51 keyboard (or attempts) and I'm going to give it a shot whenever I get all the parts together.
-
there is always a chance that in the process of repairing, some new problem arises. you are lucky, 1 week is not much, i would have to wait 2 months to get any kind of hardware change here in india
-
-
Speaking of Tony, Whats up Bro? -
-
I am still waiting for the keyboard to arrive from asusparts.eu.
It has been three weeks since I ordered it.
The status is still "awaiting parts".
They ordered it from ASUS Taiwan, but it seems that they still didn't get it. -
Well at least the US team played well, the italian team woke up too late and the english team apart from the blind referee were not that great either.
Therefore may the team that plays the best football win the Cup, but has anyone seen any good football so far?
-
Thanks for the insight, I've done the update and thought it was strange but I have only USB 2.0 pendrives so no testing.

-
Hi All I try to connect to internet using lan cable but dont seems to be working. Is there any configuration I need to do. Tks.
-
I've never gone past 95C. But still it bothers me. If I only live in US, I'd RMA it right now. I'm thinking of buying an AS5 and let the asus business center here to apply it but I'm unsure if they could apply it properly. What a bull shrek.
What temps do you get while gaming?
-
I get about 82 max when playing stuff like MW2, GTA4, SC2, etc. I've never seen it go to 90 before.
-
-
i believe you have such high temps because there is dust accumulating in your system. you should find ways to make your working environment as dust free as possible. there are some tutorials on how to clean your laptop. its simple and should not void the warranty.

please do report if you are having better results while gaming.
i live in a dusty environment too, when my laptop arrives its going to be a pain to maintain this machine. -
i am sorry i cant point you to more specific links, don't really have the time, need to finish up with my dinner.
but when i do get my laptop , i will make sure i post something on maintaining the N61JQ.
good luck! -
Ya, no thermal compound. And it is sitting on a laptop cooler (but the cooler is off)
