yeah ive done all that thanks mate even updated drivers to no avail . its like the voice of the artist singing is in the background and the instruments are at the front ?

It wasn't an issue with the v-sync because the issues were happening below 60 fps, refresh rate at which it would have synced. It may be similar to the issues that some users were having with GTA IV, where the video literally seems to be speeding up then slowing down. It doesn't really look like normal fps spiking.
-
Well, I have a Sony Dash as my alarm clock. Other then that, I don't have much for Sony products left.
-
@Carta i don't have access to my N61 right now i can't help you much for now, others can assist you further. I'm sure is the option laying somewhere caused it going abnormal.
@thiggy i actually will try out that regedit thingy and see if fixed GTAIV spike lags and monitor any temp increase.
-
Take your N61 to your friends house and test it there.
-
What, no Play Station?
-
probably not the spot to ask, but us convicts in australia get things a little later than you guys. Is there a recomended alternative to this these days?
-
Yo Jeff, recommend order it from ebay. Or have your local IT store to order it for you. With commission ofcourse
-
a question everyone, how long does it take for a drained battery to charge from 0%-100% and does the battery charge any faster when when not in use?
i had asked this a while ago but never got a response. -
Shhh... It's the original 60GB PS3. I don't talk about it much. I just wipe it down with a diaper every few days and keep it in its glass case. The scratches sit outside the glass case waiting for a chance to get in!
-
From 0%-100% should takes around 3 hours (not sure)
But yes battery charge faster when laptop is sleep mode or off. I also found out long ago with my Dell laptop charging battery and gaming full speed at same time can stress the AC adapter, therefore it can be quite hot. I gusss this happens for all laptops. -
Mac is gone. I replaced it with a tiny Toshiba. The tiny Sony was almost a grand so, NO! ;-)
-
May it rest in peace.
-
solved my audio issues .. the cause my nokia n900 headphones seems i have to force the button on them down to get the correct sound . i dont know why because they work fine in the phone .
-
They guy who bought it looked like he was in a reggae band. He took one look at the laptop and pulled out the cash. No sales pitch needed!
-
Lol macs tend to have that effect on people.
-
Could anyone tell me some good stability/stress testing programs for this laptop? I Just received mine after a 2nd RMA with both having had the mother board replaced. I want to stress test this laptop before I start using it on daily basis. Much appreciated thanks.
-
Quick question, I have successfully installed my new ssd and my old hd into the obhd caddy. I was testing everything out and my webcam now only shows me upside down? Any suggestions? The driver on the driver thread says to make sure your hardware ids are the same and mine is different then the one he posted. Thanks in advance! SSDs are AWESOME! Less than 8 seconds to boot and surf the net!

SiSoftware Zone Or Computer Diagnostics & Network Audits Software | Lavalys.com Good for the job.
Try rotate it 360 degrees? I know there's an option for that just not sure where it lays. -
Thats what I was thinking, but since i dont have the driver or any program, i cant find where to change it -
got it, mine was on the list he posted, fixed the problem, sorry for the dumb question
-
Okay, so I got the Toshiba satellite T235-S1345RD from Office Depot to do some light work on, testing, etc... and give my N61 a break. This is a sweet little toy (I guess it can be also referred to an ultra portable). So, Greg, Tony, Steve, guys... get one and lets get a second owners lounge going!
Come on... ya know you want to... -
does reformatting with F9 change the version of the BIOS?
-
Also, on my busted computer, i can take out two 1gig sticks of ram. Will I be able to insert these into my asus?
Thanks! -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Depends on what kind of memory it is. For your ASUS N61JQ-A1 you will need DDR3 SODIMMS.
-
Yes i sent it in also for the peeling. The main issue, though, was that the damn thing just stopped posting. It wouldn't even go to BIOS after I started it up. It was working fine the same morning until I restarted it. I wasn't even playing any games or anything. I still haven't received my laptop back and now they're asking me if I want a replacement. From July 1st - July 7th, they refused to acknowledge receiving the laptop even though FEDEX said it was delivered on the 1st. Then, they kept telling me that it was "in repair" - no specifics, no info from July 8th till last night. All of a sudden, they say a part needs to be ordered and ONE DAY before the 14-day turn around time is up (today), they tell me it's better off if I get it replaced because getting the part will take time.
Now I have to worry about if they're going to give me some refurbished garbage and if they're going to return my hard drive like I asked them to so i can get all my data off of it. I want my Intel WifiLink 5100 back too. I don't understand why a company wouldn't just have a reserve stock of parts for their laptops at their repair facilities. It makes no sense not to have all the parts available to fix the laptop when you make your customers send it to the REPAIR facility. -
Yes they do! Although I do like Mac systems. For laptops if you want battery life your really can't bean a mac, but if you want Power or are limited on price a PC is the way to go.
-
Because the main factory is in china, import would takes time, atleast says mine is made in china. And, perhaps they ran out of parts
since everyone demands for a mobo replacement.
And tell them your gonna get the N61 back unless is something better.
EDIT: I just noticed Asus support removed 2 BIOS utilities for N61, guess too many people bricked their BIOS due to human error and costed them a fortune for replacement mobos. -
Hi fellas,
I was recently getting the artification issue with my N61 - sent it in for repair, have been told waiting on a mobo replacement as the graphics card may be faulty. Is the graphics all part of the mobo? -
@eunos82,
Yes, from what I've read, it is soldered into the mobo.
Hope you get your laptop back soon
-
Asus is actually the first to take integrated solutions to the extreme. We all say IGP suck for games! Asus took the challenge...

As of yesterday, my computer started running extremely slow and/or it completly locks up. It will boot up fine and run ok for a few minutes before everything grinds to a halt. Some of the errors logs generated are below. I have run a check of the hard drive and it is ok. I have run a norton scan for viruses and spyware and it found none. I did format a new external hard drive yesterday, and moved some files to it, but did not leave it connected to the laptop; so I don't see how this would affect anything. I also restored the computer back to a time yesterday before I formatted the hard drive and it had no effect on the computer problems. I don't have any restore points earlier than that. Any suggestions? Thanks.

@tom30, your OS screwed up, alot main services failed to start due to dependency services didn't start. Main cause i can only say virus did this. I know you ran a virus check with Norton but some virus can do what it can do.
Since this is related to major services failure i suggest you first try open new admin account and login from there, if things goes well then should settle down with new user account. If still not good, clean install OS is last resort. -
Thanks. I'll give it a try. Would running a different/better virus program help?
-
I do not know the main cause is so running different AV might not help much, but i personally use Eset Nod32 Antivirus. ESET - Antivirus Software with Spyware and Malware Protection
Trying to fix a broken OS like that is not gonna worth the time or able to put everything back to default. So reinstall is the last way. -
Hi GarryChow, the F9 restore does not touch the bios it just restores the operating system as when it came out of the factory
-
And if I'm not mistaken we have only two slots on the N61, therefore your "old" memory not only has it to be the same type as said by Paladin but to make it worth while also of greater capacity, that is you now have 4gb replace it with 6gb or higher.
-
Great. thanks for your help.
-
Hello everyone, I just got mine a few days ago and I'd be really thankful if you could help out with these two issues:
1) Is there a way to turn off the lights on the sides of the speakers? The blinking in sleep mode is really annoying (it also consumes valuable power doesn't it
)
2) The webcam has a very low fps output and its too sluggish, even when offline and just using Lifeframe for example. Is there a solution to this? I already have the latest webcam driver installed.
Thanks. -
I got all the parts for the backlit keyboard mod...and WOW. Ok, first when someone takes a picture of that QT110 chip, I had no idea the thing was going to be smaller than my pinky fingernail. Like, half the size. Which makes it really difficult for those of us who don't have a soldering table set up-- I do some soldering here and there on occasion...but I'm just not set up for working that small.
So, I guess the touch sensor is out of the question for me. I'm attempting to do the keyboard light mod with an always on mod....but it's still difficult. The keyboard I bought off ebay has REALLY tiny connections for the lights. I was able to connect wires farther up the connector by carefully scraping off the cable covering in a section, making it manageable...but I'm not quite done yet to call it a success.
If I can't do it, I might take it to a local shop, but I don't feel like paying someone $100 for keyboard lights either.

A laptop is meant for work not for GAMING. There are other devices like Xbox are meant for gaming.
May be Asus has lot to offer for sole gamers, but less to mass population/consumers. For Asus the GPU is the primary component in a laptop than anything else
-
Your statement will get mobile gamers to disagree with you. One word from me, screw the f****** consoles. Performance laptops are meant for games.

Oh ! Off curse, I understand, you need your business to run anyway

Thanks, I hope so. I have loved this laptop to bits! besides this artification

Edit: Nevermind, found the topic that had crysis demo benchmark in it.

Does anyone know of a car power adapter that will work with the n61jq-x1. I'm going on a really long trip soon (in a car) and I would like to watch a few movies to waste some time. Thanks in advance and sorry if it was already posted, i dont feel like looking through 500 pages of posts.
-
Get an inverter, and one with a high rating. Car adapters are pointless when you have an inverter.
My n61jq arrives Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If only i woulda bought it a day earlier
-
Kinamax 100W Car 12V DC to 110V AC Power Converter at CircuitCity.com
Would something like that work?
You will be very happy with the laptop as long as there is nothing wrong with it. I only have a little speck of dirt on the inside of the laptop screen that gets a little annoying from time to time but its nothing worth fussing over. I have had n61jq-x1 for 2 weeks now and the dirt has been the only problem.
I have also just played through mass effect 2 on it with and hdmi cable plugged into my very large hdtv. It was awesome. -
At least Donald has a buisness. Speaking of which why don't you mind your own buisness. I thought you agreed not to bother us with your Asus hating troll nonsense. Don't waste your time responding to this as I won't waste my time reading or responding to anything else you post here. I just didn't want you to think we forgot who you are.
