Is that ~12,800 3dmark with any gpu overclocking? Also, what resolution was it performed at.

    -Thanks

    Nice 3dmark score fatmandoo.

You had to overclock the GPU's to get 12,800?

I thought the W90's "stock" were getting over 15,000.

Course I only got 14,200 stock on my M17 till I overclocked my 3.06 to 3.55. Then I was able to get 15,258 @1280x1024. I haven't done anything with my 3870's yet.

Yeah I paid $3100 but I noticed the W90 configured like mine ends up costing more. Not a surprise though since it's newer tech.

Don't get me wrong, I like the W90.

I think it's currently the sweetest deal in gaming laptops.

But I thought I've seen ads that say the W90 was able to get 15,000 out of the box?

I expected to see some scores that were off the charts with the 4870's on Xfire.

Is it that the cards are so new and the drivers haven't matured?

Looking at the hardware alone it seems like these cool rigs should be capable of more.

the machine is awesome, GenTech squized 17k on 3d06 so far. I hope when suport will be released(no idea if it will happen), w90 will shine, Quad and most of the folks who has it were able to get 15k out of it so far, with no major twiks I think, I'm just starting my battle with this thing.... so far I'm loosing by alot.

You are trying to compare benchmark results of a q9000 at 2.3 ghz to a x9100 at 3.5 ghz? HMMM I wonder why the dual core is winning?

I hope better drivers come out that let the hardware breath cause the W90 should be smashing the benchmarks.

I think were doing just fine to be honest atleast so far, 30fps @very high in crysis, 11k vantage gpu runs, 17k 3d06s .were on the right track .

here is a run i just did of 06

the ones that did 3d06 out of the box at 15k are the X1 because you can OC the CPU to 3.2ghz.

    I just tried 3dmark06 with new 9.4 driver, OC to 2.3ghz and GPU to 600 & 900..
It froze on me. I tried again and samething.. screen froze..then whole screen turns red, green, blue and keep on doing that.. It did not happen with stock driver.. this is stressful..

Turn off the OC on the video cads and make sure overdrive is off before you flash the cards too. I read somewhere it should be off while flashing.

Yes its fine to leave it as is . Now you just have the choice when say 9.5s come out and your itchin to try a new driver or you can just stick with the official ones .Choice is always a good thing .

So have to download the old drivers, isntall them and reboot again... sigh.

I just tried to flash bios to 5.02 using Ezflash and found out that my computer already have 5.02 bios.
And I tried new gpu driver 090331.zip and it made my slave gpu as hd2400.. hahaha.. I went back to the V's 9.4 driver...
The new gpu driver does not work with 4870x2 !!

Ugh finally got my audio back.

I installed the old drivers and upon reboot still had no sound, looks like you must have the realtek HD control panel for it to work and for some reason it did not install.

I installed it again and rebooted and left the room, but booted into Win 7 because its dual boot, so had to reboot again, and upon reboot it works agian....

Since I was messing with the audio I have a protip!

Go into your Realtek HD Audio Control Panel and go to the speaker configuration tab.

Put some music on and listen to it, then turn OFF the side pair of speakers under optional speakers.

For me I think it gives a more full robust sound to the audio.

This was a known problem with the ATI drivers. It was resolved with 9.3. You can get rid of it by playing in Windowed mode for whatever reason, turning Shadows down below medium, or by flashing both cards to Master and updating your drivers per the instructions.

I discovered that problem too. Really annoying. Luckily, flashing both and updating drivers makes for a quicker machine anyway. :)

Just a quick question for everyone, has anyone tried using ThunderLED or the like to toggle their mail LED?

Or, does anyone have an executable that can be run to switch it on and off, that I can trigger accordingly? I'd like to have that light work, but ThunderLED doesn't seem to work anymore for Thunderbird, and Outlook is massively bloated.

    Ok so......

My X1 was DOA'd and Asus has offered me an X2 as a replacement or I can wait for an unspecified time for the X1 to get restocked.

The time is not the issue its what is the best processor/version for my needs.

So X1 or X2 ??????? Gunna play MMO's pretty exclusive (Warhammer Online, and World of Warcraft)

I know V has gotten the Q9000 up to 2.7 but is that something you have to do everytime you turn the comp on.

I was checking Asus's web site and it looks like they pulled all mention of the dual core model, except the info on the 15000 3dmarks. It seems the dual core is discontinued.

How much hard drive activity do you guys have? My indicator is always flashing and I have indexing and search turned off. I searched in the OS section and there are a zillion posts on hard drive thrashing with vista. I never had it before so I am wondering if this is just situation normal or I got something going on. Shadow copy seems to be the most active user of the drive.

it's superfetch and allot of the time it's writing to your system restore or what ever it's called..cant remember right now...
click on your resource monitor/disk and see what it's reading and writing to.
with ssd drives..this last about 1 minute..on a 7200 rpm drive..this can last about 5 to 15 minutes usually it's longest run time is right after a reboot or driver install. then it wants to run your winstat assessment..another 5 to 10 minute disk thrashing

Ken cant even test anything no matter how bad he wants too, they sold all there units I think. He was probably in tears when the last box that he was about to open for testing was brutally ripped out of his hands to ship out to somebody that bought it.

He is gonna have to go covert op, and hide one from the next shipment in the bathroom, and just hope that nobody catches onto why there is a 50ft long extension cord going into a bathroom stall and why Ken suddenly has 3 hour long stomach problems every day.
