ummmm, think you better go back and look at jamies score of 11,009 gpu using a dual core cpu.

 

well i was looking up the corei7 and for mobile intel said that they are going to release a dual core i7 for now. (4 thread because of hyperthreading.) so if you have a quad be happy. a real quad will kill a dual core i7.


also a corei7 won't make a difference in games unless you are at 1920*1200 or higher. (max for laptops now if 1920*1200 so you might see alittle difference)

remember the only difference is the hyperthreading, l3 cache, and removal of the northbridge. so the difference is going to be big. unless you are video editing, doing hard core task at the same time. (not listening to music, on the internet and watching a movie) like converting a video with two cores, playing a game with 2 core other cores, compressing a 8gb files with 2 cores, and the watching a blueray movie(on an other lcd) on the internet and listening to music.

i was going to wait but it keep on getting pushed later and later and i just pulled my trigger and i am glad i did. i just need new gpu's cards and more experience so i can be in the benchmarking list

 

vantage gpu run, you guys should do gpu only, there faster and the only part that matters

but since the w90 can only do 1920x1080..it has to be altered to the extreme settings accordingly

Everyone else got gpu score around 10000, why mine is just so poor?

What's more, my RAM score marked by Vista is 5.6 ,while another guy got 5.9(don't know others' though). What's happened to my machine this time?

 

don't know... it could be quite a few things...i would start byf making sure all the simple stuff was in order first. and when benching..make sure your hard drive light is not constantly flashing...this will drop your scoring drastically. a little flashing is all right..but almost through each section of the run...not good.

No its more CPU dependent than anything with its ultra low resolution and old benchmarks. Ever since the 8000 series its been a cpu benchmark.

Dunno I would run it but I already downgraded everything because I am going to RMA soon.

 

I have no idea where it came from, but i have a scratch on the uper left corner, I guess i'll make use of that warranty after all.

Call of juarez....I bought this game about 2 years ago when i had my 8800gtxOC and Original [email protected] This was probably one of the first if not the first DX10 thing to come out . My machine back then could barely score 30fps@1920 so i just installed it for giggles and Wow this game is still beautiful and i was blown away by the performance . And it had a built in DX10 benchmark

 

dang, i still haven't ran that game yet.

 

it's a scratch, I can feel the dent in the screen with my finger nail, i don;t know if that makes sense....

 

Call of juarez is the game I have been playing most everynight on my 360 since it's release. I host rooms even nights I do not play. It has the best multiplayer ever! I would like to thank krabman and electrosoft who commented and helped me decide which laptop to get. I highly appreciate your help.
I decided to purchase the Asus W90Vp-A1 from GenTech PC and later on if I ever need more CPU power (if overclocking to 2.6 wont be enough) I'll just upgrade to a ES QX9300 from ebay.

 

I have no idea what I did to help but glad I could contribute. I honestly don't believe many people will be disappointing with the w90. It is really a nice lappie and should serve you well.

 

I'm baselining my system now that I have it halfways tweaked and updated drivers installed. My run through with all stock clocks compared to stock clock cpu/ overclocked gpu barely netted a 50 pt gain which seems to support this thought.

edit.... My baseline is 11418 no clocking, 11467 with gpu clocked to 590/890 and stock cpu clock, 12955 with same gpu overclock and 15% overclock on cpu. The last is with the gpu as set by autotuner in ATI overdrive and of course the standard 15% cpu available on the 2ghz piece. Im pretty happy with getting near 13k on the stock system/software combo, now comes the interesting part.

 

Thats great Trich , yes its a fantastic and often overlooked game . I was pleasantly surprised they were making a sequel to it .

 

now that the video cards work as 4870x2 rather than two 4870s in crossfire, here is the question: which mode is superior? Is the GRAM 512+512=1024M fully available? or two cards just hold same data meantime(that is, it only has 512M GRAM available though there are two cards)?

 

Its only 512 . for sli and crossfire it mirrors the other Vram

my vista would not do raid0 ssd, but windows 7 did it no hassels what so ever.

 

yes...very annoying that was...to say the least!
i was trying all types of raid drivers and nothing.
pop in win7beta and it started installing without me having to do any raid anything.

 

are you going to be running raid or just the one x25?

 

no problem...and for what it's worth.. you don't need to run raid at all.
i was just running it for testing purposes... im taking down my raid today and putting the the second ssd in my desktop.

 

nope. not with these at least..but when i had the patriot..i didn't need to be in raid to see it stutter..it did it with out it. and the writes we averaging close to 90 mb

the vertex was doing 400 to 500 mb and writing at 350+ mb..problem with that is...nothing else can keep up.

Hello, I have been following this forum for a few weeks ago since I bought my w90vp-A1
the laptop is great but I just have one problem.
When running games that support crossfire with the Catalyst AI (the option that enables crossfire in our cards) the screen starts shaking in some parts of the game, mostly in parts with a lot of light. Disabling crossfire (disabling catalyst AI) fixes it but then I get half the performance. Not that it matters much because just a single radeon 4870 is enough to run Fallout3, Mirrors Edge and Devil May Cry 4 at the highest settings and 1920x1080 and AA.
But I would like to have both cards running as I am sure in the future both cards will be needed.

If anyone else knows how to fix it? I have Catalyst 9.4 with the second card flashed with master bios but the screen shaking I had it before right after the first time I used the laptop and installed fallout3 straight away.

ali, the 8800m gtx is scoring like 10. 4 to 10.6 gpu at vantage...but of course...that's using a 2.66 quad..aeris got that a while back...

 

Wow The A1 seems like so much better of a deal given the Egg is now charging $2399 for just a quad 2.0 no extra HDD or BD player.

Good news for those of you still interested in the Duo 2.8 equipped X1. Asus says that they are expecting a new shipment at the end of August. Now we will have to wait to see if these are destined for the Egg or maybe some other outlet say BB hmmm.

Also if you are still interested in the X2 Asus is not expecting their next shipment until mid May once the Egg is out of their current stock, but now that they have just raised their price a good amount with no additional perks I would say the A1 is the best bang for the buck now.

 

My -X2 arrived today, along with my 120 Vertex...what a beast. I was ready for the size so no complaints. As noted by most; very, very solid.

They could have spaced the keyboard out a bit more but that's a tiny thing. It would be nice if they get a lighted keyboard option some time in the future but not a deal breaker for sure.

When I turned it on, everything was in Chinese...huh...? I used another vista computer as a guide and got some of it switched over to english but was stymied for the rest. I called the Toll free hotline and, much to my shock, was talking with a human in about 2 minutes.

He had me F9 on boot and reload the operating system. That did it.

I spent about an hour updating vista and am downloading Steam and some games.

I thought I read somewhere that a ghost program was included with my Vertex. I'm pretty sure I'll have to load the latest firmware...I wish they would have included a jumper. I'm sure I can did one up somewhere.

So far, so good.

Where can I get a good, cheap ghost program? As soon as I've done the updates and cleanup, I want to get that Vertex in as my OS drive.

 

If your other drive is a seagate in the machine you get there version of Acronis free. Its called Seagate Discwizard.

Edit: Striker got the info out 2 seconds before i did .

 

you will definitely need to make an image before doing anything to that vertex drive. and you will need a windows based machine to flash it to 1275. and it's very very iffy if you can flash it using a usb to sata method. has to be directly connected. (it may work for you but never worked for me)
