The W90 uses Socket P. The qx9650 is socket lga 775. They are not compatible.
-
ouch thats gotta hurt...
striker if you are out there how much was your QX9300? -
Ah well.. socket changes always suck. lol .. I still have the option of selling off the sff/cube-ish pc if I decide to, with its current cpu intact to recoup a little cash. This has the bonus of not ruining my Asus warranty on the W90Vp swapping cpus.
That logitech headset does look cool. If I ever swap out my usb based turtle beach headset I'll consider those. Hard to imagine 7.1 vs 5.1 sounding any different in cans though. hehe. Do you know if the usb module has full drivers for vista64 though? thats the problem I have with my turtle beach ones.
I'd still like to know if I could hook up both my lcd monitor via hdmi and my crt monitor via vga to the W90vp at the same time, disabling the notebook's lcd temporarily. I used to be able to do that on my hp notebook before it died. That would truly allow me to replace my sff/desktop with it. If anyone knows or can test it I'd appreciate it .. thanks!
-
Your looking at more around 14k maybe 14.5k max on 06 with that CPU overclocked .
-
that's what they said when 5.1 came out...
i'm wondering though madhatter, how do you compare the g35 headphones to a set of 5.1 headphones? also, does the g35 come with a usb to headphone jack adapter?
as for martin's comment, there are better laptops on the market - the a1 is just the best bang for the buck. -
BOSE thats all i have to say
-
BOSE carries/makes great products, however, they are slightly on the expensive side... also, does BOSE even making gaming headsets?
-
not sure on that one i will look it up and tell u
-
uhh yes they do http://www.pilotshaven.com/bose.jpg
they ate $1000.00 tho *_* -
w8 they are aviation but can be used for gaming
-
They are 7.1. I owned a AudioFX Pro 5+1 by BenHeck. They were ok. The logitech speakers are crist and clear. The drivers are also better. The logitech have a usb plug only. So they have there own sound card built in them. Trust me i got the first batch and i love them. They are not as good as true 5.1 speakers, but i hate bring 5.1 speaker to a lan party. Also everyone there at the lan party hate you are louder then their headsets...
-
does w90vps owners around here have the crossifre enabling option in their ccc? or is it missing?
-
it's good to know that if i ever decided to be a pilot, i'd have the headeset department covered. lol.
http://www.provantage.com/logitech-981-000116~7LOG906M.htm
this site is confusing me... it says the headphones are wireless and it says they are wired? -
If you install this driver package for Win7 it will just install the 9.4 CCC which will then give you Crossfire controls . I recommend installing it as it works correctly with the modded drivers plus if you make changes to contrast and brightness etc they will work at startup as well.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx -
Wired usb.
-
got it..thanks
-
Ok on that subject. Two master cards + modded those drivers will give you access in ccc to turn on crossfire?
-
Yep just install the modded drivers from the Vicious package then after that run the installer i linked above and voila you have a working CCC with the actual crossfire option.
-
in my graphics adapter option I have only one adapter.
-
? are you sure you have it enabled in the bios, where it says disable one graphics adapter set to disable.
-
You need to use the have disk methad. Manually install the drivers in device manager.
-
The fact he has only one card there at all is leading me to believe its disabled in the bios ..
Bcool you have to reboot and hit F2 during startup to check if this is enabled or disabled . -
My order is delayed also but with the addition of the extra Drive and Blue Ray its worth the wait. I would add these no matter what at an extra cost.
-
yes in overdrive menu i have two graphics card and same in ccc's information center
-
That's exactly how i did it, It was fine all these days
-
Not sure what to tell ya then as its the first i have heard of only one card showing up in the device manager yet in your ATI control panel theres 2? .Might have to uninstall everything ATI and start over . Worst case scenario you may have to do a system restore to get it back to normal . Only time i ever saw 1 card in the device manager was when i actually disabled the card via the BIOS.
-
oops!!! not in device manager, in crossfire menu in ccc, theres only one card and in ati overdrive tree there are two sorry for misleading

Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
i ve seen the qx9300 around. so you order the laptop and then you change the cpu by yourselves? you open a new notebook like that?
-
Word.
-
Hmm dont have my machine infront of me so cant tell you if that was normal as i never had the need to disable crossfire just that it was now an actual option in the CCC . Maybe someone else who installed the new 9.4 CCC from the win7 drivers can confirm whether they have 2 cards there or not . Is there a reason you want to disable crossfire ? because if you really need to you can always just disable Catalyst AI and that does the same thing .
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
please answer? you lose warranty like that dont you? -
Yep, warranty is out the window.
-
Nope you can order them with the Qx9300 and still have a warranty through the company you order them from.
http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=W90Vp-A1 -
only cost you 1100 bucks. but your warranty is in tact and you get a retail qx9300
-
No, no, when you convert the drives to raid all data is lost. You then reinstall on the converted drives. -
so if later down the line i want the qx9300, i can send it to gentech and have them install it?
-
i don't have any intent to do it in the near future... i was just asking because of the warranty issue.
-
Is the X2 experiencing gpu issues
-
Once you enable raid and procede through the setup all data on the drives is lost as they are converted into a raid array. Once the array is set up you then install the operating system. You don't set up an array from windows, fresh install or not. There are a number of good guides about setting up raid that can be quickly hunted down in a search. I get the feeling that we are one way or another misunderstanding one another.
-
Are you absolutely sure because may 20th is a long time to wait
-
yeah, ken made a post saying the shipment was delayed. he also sent out some PM's saying they were delayed until the 20th...
why are you so impatient? i've been waiting since the 23rd of last month, and i'm sure others have been waiting longer. i would never switch my order just because ken is such a nice guy, and gentech delievers great customer service... let alone there seems to be some sort of technical issue with asus that can not be discussed right now.
also, even if you did find another retailer, they would probably have the same problems as striker stated... and then you would have to send it right back. better to get it done right the first time than to spend time fixing it later. -
i hope not.
-
I can confirm this is true. Just got an update from Brian at GenTech. He figured the delay is due to Asus working on problems. I can most certainly handle a delay at the cost of problem free hardware.
-
Who has the pics of the W90 torn apart? I've searched but it's getting a bit needle in haystackish with 613 pages.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
check with someone named jamie
-
Thanks...I found them. Has anyone else noticed that there are no cooling vents on the bottom cover for the gpu blower which uses the chrome back vent?
-
Everyone settle down and realize that this machine is bleeding edge technology and if you want the best you have to take the de-bugging that goes along with it.
Now all I have to do is convince my girlfriend I only paid $600 for it
-
I told my wife I was going to buy a 6k laptop. She was thrilled when I "decided" to get this budget box instead. You have to put things in the right perspective for them.
-
or you could've said you were going to buy a 10k laptop and decided on the 6k laptop.. you screwed up.
-
That's a smart approach. Set her up for a dinger, then you come out the hero that you just saved 3.5K by "settling" for a lower priced machine.
Brilliant!
