OK, I successed in setting up RAID 0 and recover the system using the recovery disk. It took veeeeery long time TOT

But fatal error occurred: after I reinstalled the 9.4 drivers and CCC as before(video cards Bios remains unchanged even though I recover the system using the recovery disk), there are flikering and error of texture when running 3DMARK VANTAGE, but no issues when running 3DMARK06. I guess there are something wrong with directx10. But why those problems happened this time? It's OK when I installed the 9.4 drivers in stock system.

PS: After installing 9.4, I cannot run atiwinflash or have to uninstall VGA drivers. A bug of the modified drivers?

is it possible to order the qx3000 seperately from somewhere?

i am thinking of it as an upgrade when warranty will finish and it will be much more cheaper. for the time being i lll buy it with q9000 and permanenlty overclocked with turbo gear.

Additionally, even though I reinstall the stock drivers, the problems still exist. And there are no "crossfireX" option in 9.4 CCC on my computer. But when I disabled one card at bios settings, the issue went away. After that I re-enabled another card but window still could only reganize one card. Again I re-enabled the card, it appears, but no crossfire, and I have no method to let them crossfire.

I'm using the 9-4 drivers with the original ccc and I don't have a crossfire option either...though it does seem to be working.

Under 'information', 'hardware', do you see both cards? One should say 'primary' and if you scroll down, the other should say 'linked'.

The original CCC does not have crossfire option, but you will see "linked adapter" under the information tab if its working.

If its not in crossfire you will see "secondary adapter"

IIRC, the Q9000 can be overclocked to 2.3GHz with Asus's Direct Console while SetFSB can push it up to 2.6-2.7GHz.

You can purchase the QX9300 HERE, but you'll probably find the cheaper on ebay.

Last time I tried the disable/enable affair resulted in restoring stock system. I think the bios disable option is merely for troubleshooting. :D

Well I found both cards. But the issue of flitering and texture error didn't disappear whatever I did: installing windows with retail version or recovery disk, installing the stock or modified video drivers. Only method is disable one card.

I own a W90Vp-X1 with Intel Core 2 Duo T9600. If I want quad core, can this be upgraded to the QX9300 (installed by GenTech?) or am I looking at selling the X1 and buying a new one?

I looked at GenTech and could only find this http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=W90Vp-A1 that has the Q9000, do I just need to call them for the QX9300?

Also one other side question, the buttons to the left of the ESC key, I inadvertantly hit those a LOT it seems. Has anybody successfully disabled those keys?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    [edit] Ok I see the ordering option on the X2 for a Intel QX9300 Core 2 Extreme Quad Core 2.53 GHz 1066FSB 12MB 45nm 45W: $1149
So I guess I still would like to know if my current X1 can be upgraded or not. :)[/edit]

Yeah, under load, the OCZ Whitebook does toss out some serious heat and that fan is quite, um, audible even with the 3870's.

But other than not being a us seller, (I don't care) he did correct the product code and the picture is not relevant, what are the requirements for our CPU?

Does anyone know for sure? Maybe someone with a QX 9300 can run CPUZ and post it?

quality is all i can say... :)

    hey viciousxusmc:
been thinking about what you said about the memory being the bottle neck now.
i think your probably right on that. because it's sure not the cpu. quick explanation.
    1:cpu 2.0 ghz
    2:fsb default 1066 or 1.06 ghz
    3:memory 400x2 or 800 mhz
4:raising the fsb also raises cpu frequency and also raises the memory speed
5:the cpu can keep up fine, but the memory is being over stretched. (so to speak)
6 and the fsb really needs to be up around 1500 mhz to 1600 mhz which is pushing the memory well out of range. so running a higher grade of memory or even 1066 in there should give you what your looking for to go higher.

something to maybe try when you get your machine back.

Most stable i can reach is about 3.1ghz or a tad under and yes the Voltage is the limiting factor . Hopefully Asus will update the bios eventually to allow more voltage which inturn would give us lots more room to experiment.

Please guys can you clarify something?

when i order an asus w90 from a website like gentech and i also select the qx9300 it will be inside the w90 when i receive it and the qx9000 outside?

or i will get the w90 with qx9000 and the qx9300 outside?

alternatively can i ask them to install the qx9300 and keep the qx9000? (any money reduction maybe?)

    please clarify me that.thanks

When you order the 9300 all you receive is the 9300 they keep the 9000. I think it's part of the warranty service if they have to send it back to Asus
