Any burning program should work. Kens CD uses different flash commands than my usb guide, I didnt know that so I just updated the guide with a link to his directions on using the disk.

Im asking him if he can make the disk work the same way as my flash drive to make it easier for everybody and reduce confusion.

I could probably make the disk lol, if I have too I'll try later.

Some say they did have both cards working in Win 7 but I never got it working myself.

Im waiting for retail so we are all on the same page, right now in beta too many versions floating around and what works in one version doesnt seem to work the same on the next.

Limit Breaker Guide has it in the download. 9-4 VistaWin7 blah blah blah in the main folder with the ATI icon.

I'm RMA'ing my W90 for its really bad screen and glitchy black and grey striped graphics freezing in desktop.

Can whoever has a good screen let me know the ID # of it or the MFR, etc, as I would like to know if theres a difference. Mine is so bad that no matter how I tilt it or view it the colour is inconsistent on the whole screen at once. If there is black at the top then the bottom shows grey/brown. I uninstalled the asus colour program but it looks like the screen is the problem. I need a good screen for work purposes as well.

PLEASE HELP and let me know the name or ID of your screen if it's decent.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

In relation to the screen comments...

Several yrs ago I had a sager that had a really nice screen except for the fact that it had a hole-punch size spot that was much lighter than the rest of the screen. It was a perfect circle, I guess some type of production anomaly. Anyway I RMA'd it and they sent it back with a different panel whose quality sucked by comparison. It looked grainy and like it had dust behind it almost (which it may have). I ended up making a huge fuss and returned it for a complete refund in the end... my reseller went to bat for me thankfully.

It really sucks that the screen model isn't selectable in high end notebooks / DTR's. Screen lotteries suck. The fact that the gpu's aren't all standardized slots quite yet for that matter even with MXM tech available kinda sucks too.

I think the LG notebook screens are the good ones generally. I'd be interested to hear what other people have to say about this, and any feedback to RMP's request for screen ID's/model #'s.

Hi everybody! I just got my brand new w90vp with duo t9550.It was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard to get it here in Russia, very few samples were imported. So I was really lucky =)I have been following this thread a lot in the past couple days. And i really like this forum due to a lot of data, helpfullness and general friendliness of members.Thnx a lot vicious for your posts they are really informative.Even though i had a problem with my monitor the uninstall of asus software had completely solved the problem. Now im getting morally prepared for installing new drivers and flashing my gpu =))) I have a small question: what do you guys think should I go on and and flash it using 9.4 or should i wait till the modded 9.6 will be available? Oh and another one: if i'll flash my gpus and install 9.4 drivers now will I have to go through the whole process again(I mean flashing bios) in order to update it to 9.6(when it will be available)?

Bios change is permanent, no need to do it again. You can change drivers at will but we dont have a working .inf to install the 9.6 drivers yet.

    Um, no.

After flashing or after installing drivers?

What did you use the flash? My USB files or Kens CD?

I know all the files in the USB guide are correct and would think Kens files are fine too, plus if you flashed a different cards bios on there it probably wouldnt even work anymore.

    Like the new guide Infiniteone?

I bet you pay more attention after the first time :D

I wanted to say a mean joke I think you have a good sense of humor.

When Ken told me about how to use .bat files to shortcut the commands for ATI Flash I was gonna say I would make a command so you type Infinity1 to break your computer and flash both cards to Slave :p

I got that idea when Ken used RMA as the code to flash both cards back to stock for a RMA.

Just a joke though I didn't really mean to do it.

But I am thinking of updating the package yet again to add the same .bat files Ken uses to shorthand the code but I also think its easy enough to type "atiflash -p 1 MSTR-OR.bin" and I believe its better to teach a man to fish than to catch a fish for him. Know what I mean?

Also the new bios names are so fool proof, I dont think anybody can get them mixed up.

HAHA!, yeah as soon as I read this everyone in the office was looking at me as I laughed uncontrollably. That was a good one Vic. Oh by the way Asus did RMA is even though I screwed up so if anyone else dose the same have no fear. They will probably do the same for you.

Well finally after 3 months of waiting my W90vp came in last wednesday. Also here in the Netherlands only few units are delivered and only one type is available. Anyway, unpacked the beast and have a good look...   Oh no, one of the corners is completly busted and even the bakpack is damaged. The box however shows no damage at all.....
I rang my supplier and he mentioned another client had the same issue. Must have happened on the production line before packaging
As none of the distributers had one on stock anymore  I was looking at another 5 weeks waiting before new shipment is due to arrive. Luckily my supplier stepped in and called Asus that they should resolve this DOA properly and just got a confirmation that they managed to get one which is available next wednesday :notworthy:

I guess I can manage a few days waiting ......

Similar thing on my second w90. Everything (package, backpack, laptop) was pristine except for the battery. It looked like someone scraped it over gravel several times: the bottom of it was entirely scratched up. Works though...

Does anyone else who tried fallout 3 on this machie has massive vats slow down? Also, is it me or does it appear that the image is flickering in that game, hmm.

Also, now whenever after I play a game I try to post on this forum (for example) my screen goes white. I can be online all day long prior to spending some time playing WOW or another game, but after I play I get the white screen (happened twice already).

Does anyone have any advice to give me regarding the rma of my w90 due to the screen? Does whoever has a good screen know the mfr or id of it so that I can possibly mention it in my rma description? My friend has a good screen but I can't get him on the phone to check. Thanks.

That is a game issue the VATS, not sure if there is a fix but I know I read about it before. It effects even the fastest desktops so its not a W90 issue.

Okay guys i have joined the club . So far its amazing . I was able to almost max out farcry 2, only thing I turned down is the AA to 2x, and it ran outstandinly . But seriously I couldn't notice the difference between 2x and 8x . I can't move crysis from my other laptop to this so thats a bummer . Can't talk about crysis in that regard, gonna see how I can make it work later on .

Tried it on 6 other games and it runs flawlessly . ( supreme commander, company of heroes, sins of a solar empire, medievel : total war, spore, and s.t.a.l.ke.r ( haven't tried it out yet ) ) . The machine is not as heavy as I expected, the package was though 30 pounds .

Getting used to the keyboard, and vista, but much more prefer them both over my last computer . Touchpad is what you expect, and the mouse is a very nice bonus . Plus its bluetooth !!! Tried the camera, great but of course its a bit low quality, but good enough to talk to my girlfriends ;) .

It runs very fast, except for the occational stutter . At first when I looked at this laptop 2 months ago on xoticpc I was like " omzg teh ugly binch " But omg it looks so sexy if it were a woman ... Love the lights on the sides, and the lcd screen looks like a nice looking crystal .

I am having problems with the screen its blacks seem to be a bit lackluster tried all the settings I could possibly try, is this due to the screen being glossy, and help here ? Oh and the bookback I think looks sexier than the laptop itself . I do have to be cleaning the touchpad buttons since for some reason they are glossy .

It has alot of ports, just everything you need including the hdmi . Speakers are louder than most laptops, I had a sager and I couldn't hear c r a p . But this, I don't even have to put my headphones on .

At the end of the day, this laptop exceeded my expectations . Ive had it on for atleast 12 hours now, cpu and gpu are still rock solid, and it hasn't slowed down or anything . Programs are installing perfectly as well

Only problem I am having has nothing to do with the laptop so nevermind the external blu-ray player, not playing correctly my movies, that on another thread im going to ask for help .

Well anywase, hope this will chear up some of you . It does deliver, and it can do more .

Hello vic,I still need more detailed guides in some procedures.

    1.which card should I pick?

2.after navigating the the folder, I see two different .inf files. Which one did you use?

3.there are still two card names. Does "Choose the 2nd card name/option and the drivers should install." mean to choose the downer lower one ?

I have tried many times, almost all attempts failed. Either the second cards didnt work or texture/shadeing errors in games.

One attempt in which I didnt encounter fatal texture/shading errors is that I selected 303.inf for the upper card, then uninstall the driver of the second card, reboot, select 238.inf for the lower card(whose name after rebooting became "standard VGA" bra bra ),and then choose upper "4870x2M" for both cards. But in this case the second card always works at 550/800(not decrease to 350/200 automatically when not running games).

I am exhausted now. Please help me!

deathell, In order of yor posted pictures. Choose the first vid card. Choose the FOLDER (LH6A_INF) with both files in it not one file specifically and lastly choose the second 4870X2M. You should be fine then.

Choose the first 4870X2 but the 2nd .inf but it should work with any of them :D

Both .infs have been edited and both cards need the drivers changed.

Both the original driver and these modified 9.4's work in Win 7 but no crossfire. So only 1 card working.

Dont feel bad, looks like the new M17X with SLI GTX280's is suffering the SAME issue in Win 7 with no SLI.

Its apparently driver related, I expect us to find a way sometime after Win 7 is actually released. Its still "beta" right now.

I might be abandoning Asus, just placed a preorder with Ken for a Sager NP9850, dual GTX280M, QX9300. Guess we'll see how this pans out. Either way down the road I'll sell one of them once I figure out which to keep.

I'd like to buy this laptop, but all the problems have me concerned. What is ASUS doing to resolve the issue?

A number of resellers have yet to receive this model so it has me wondering.

Just got mine. 8 days to Iraq - not bad. Thanks Ken! Setting it up now. It is truly massive. Gonna set up a RAID 0 array and install 7 shortly. Hopefully I can get Crossfire working under 7.

Sorry man, that sucks. I'm looking at the warranty card now and it doesn't appear to cover theft. If you have renters insurance that might cover it.

So is it just the ATI drivers that are holding back this laptop?
