thnx for the reply benjaminsoup.Yeah i am really lookin forward towards 9.6 drivers and i hope it will make difference...

To revisit a old question here, anyone found a bag solution for this beast besides the backpack that comes with it.
-
Vic, Soup, thanks for your help. I just flashed the slave into master as well using Ken's bootdisk. All is good, the drivers are fine now. Thanks for your help as usual!
-
OK, not sure how accurate this is BUT. Just got off the phone with ASUS notebook support and they said a NEW VIDEO DRIVER was out and ready for our systems. I asked where since I couldent find it on the DL site and he emailed me a link:
http://dlsvr.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Drivers/VGA/VGA_ATI_VT32_64_090622.zip
I just finished downloading it and am going to see....
Posting this so others can try it also. -
Well, seems he lied to me......he said this was "just released" and when I tried to install it said everything was "up to date". Looks like the same old 8.55 driver...
Bastages -
yep...the old infamous okidoke driver install...gets more and more people every time...oh look..new driver! ...hmp!..new to them maybe...lol
-
Looks to me like it's either Catalyst 9.3 or 9.4 due to the file size of the package. It's definitely not any of the older versions (i.e 8.12 and below) because the file sizes for those were around 40-60megs. 9.3 and 9.6 I think had a 100+ mb package size.
If you have the 9.4 drivers installed already, that's probably why you're getting that message. In order to know for sure which versions these are, you'll need to uninstall your current drivers then install these. If anything, these drivers would be for the untouched W90 systems with the original master/slave setup.
Edit: nevermind. I checked the infs and it's Catalyst 9.3, so yeah. If you have 9.4 installed, you'll be getting that message.
Interestingly enough though, no mention of the 4800 series cards. Highest in the 4k series mentioned in the package is the 4650... -
-
And you're using the stock drivers?
-
-
edit: nevermind, you probably did. It would have to be the lack of profiles for the mobility 4800s in this driver. Here are the supported cards listed in the driver:

Seems like Asus assumed the new Catalyst mobility drivers (which is what they used here seemingly) would cover the 4800 series, which it doesn't. -
Well, I am dissapointed in that...was hoping was something I did wrong that it dident install...oh well.
-
After all this time i dont think Asus even knows how to or wants to make a new driver sadly , But thanks to the community there really isnt a need to use there official (outdated) drivers anyhow.
Wwoods do you not want to flash your card ? i -
Are there moded inf's for the 32 bit version of 9.4?
-
Lets just say I was holding out hope ASUS would remove their head from their posterior......yea probably will flash it tonight -
Off topic...but worthy of sharing. Firefox 3.5 is out. www.getfirefox.com Enjoy!

no one here has farcry2 and a quad core cpu?????
-
I posted some benches at 1920x1080 2xaa ultra settings a while back and was getting avg 39 fps in the first test. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
are you willing to break a record????
-
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i'm also wondering the same and if crossfire was working because isn't 2aa suppose to increase performance in most cases???? i know it did for dmc4 and another game
then i know the rest lowers but not to much -
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
well the asus came with 8.12. so i am thinking if he disabled AI?
-
Does anyone know if the Q9550S would work on the VP90??
-
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
so crossfire will get about how much before tweaks. with and without 2aa
i'm thinking 50 with 2aa and 60 without it does that sound right??
i know the 2aa give it an increase but i can't see it on this game. -
e-wrecked had a similar problem with his whitebook. Got around 22-23 fps with everything maxxed. A driver update almost doubled that figure...
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah i guess you are right. i remember when you all had that issue earlier. i did also when you using all the drivers.
for this game and the 3870's the key is to no overclock the gpu's.
for the 4870's it's a different story since they can still overclock after 8.10. but no one is intrested. -
I don't know if this is gonna help but I just got my W90 a few days ago, so I followed the limit breaker guide( thank you vicious ) everything went really well untill after I install everything , I started to play games like COD4 , Fear2 , Empire: total war, but every single one of them start to show stuttering. So I flash the Vbios back and reinstall stock driver, still didn;t help. Then I reformat everything and install Vista 32BIT( I know I know ....6G won't work all the way in 32bit) . Using stock driver , everything is fine now, no stuttering . Checked my CCC , it said there is a primary adapter and a Linked adapter , checked GPU-Z ,it said X-fire is enabled . So is there any other way to check see if it really is running X-fire? (No vantage please ...cuz I can't D/L anything here in Kuwait/Iraq). Thank you.

run 3dmark06. what other games you have?
i don't think you flashed it right -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I need you guys to run a test for me.
Go download OCCT 3.0.1 - http://www.ocbase.com/perestroika_en/index.php?Download
Run the GPU OCCT Test
To monitor your gpu temps you can use the ATI CCC or go download HWMonitor - http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
My temps are getting really high, over 100c with this test.
I need to see if its just my unit or if its all units.
My game temps are fine, its just this benchmark that pushes it that high, but I still thought the w90 could handle it.
On the + side my cpu did not go past 61c with the CPU OCCT test, even with a 33% Overclock, those temps are outrageous low for a quad in a notebook, even for a desktop thats low. -
Is your gpu oc'd when running this bench. If so, how much? -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
no oc for this test
-
OC was at 2.7ghz Q9000 and 600/900 GPU. -
Where are all the W90 owners?
@Vic: If you still want me to run the CPU test I can tonight. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
cpu & gpu test if you will please.
My CPU test temps were outstanding, OC to 2.7ghz and did not even hit 62c with OCCT for 15 minutes.
The GPU test failed horribly though, like 116c max temp, I could have fried my cards, so I recommend you monitor the temps and dont just leave it running like I did -
Edit: Here it is: LINK
I just remember you asking for a CPU test and I never did it. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Gah you have a M17X lol I though when I saw you post here it was a W90.
Im trying to see if other W90 users have the same high temps I have.
If you want to compare a test with me though tonight I will do those crysis runs, lets see what happens with that. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
my cpu didn't break 62. i am under volted though. i will run it at stock voltage.
-
Are you folks singling out tests? Could i reccomend also running the power test (which tests all components at the same time? This is where i really felt the fry)
Power Supply Test Full voltage and usage (i believe)
It would be strange if your having temp issues visc, especially as the other components run so cool. -
If you want the max performance out of your machine, you'll have to follow Vicious' limit breaker guide. For one, you'll have to update that driver to 9.4, which should net you better performance overall, especially in Far Cry 2. -
-
Sorry lol, i just want to see which test is more suitable in this case, i just prefer it when all components are being used, thats a challange to try and beat
I will run single ones then i guess haha.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
idk i would say i have the best cpu cooler. for cooling a 65w cpu
i want to see what the q9650 does in the manchine
the last 11minutes it was watching so i ended it.
i'm running the power supply one now -
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
no i'm not using a cooler. it's just on the side of a desktop cover. just sitting there. for me when stressing components out i like to see what the notebook can handle first. i am thinking about buying a cooler though but maybe in august.
last test.
i just finished the power test and again with the gpu. and this time with the cpu. i ran the power supply test and the tjmax for the e8600 is 74c. so i'm guessing it downclocked again.
i again cancelled it becuaes at 11 minutes it was montiering. i am to go to work in a little so i won't be able to run any more test but i will go back to 1v becaues i overvolted to 1.05v on the gpu and see what happens. -
Hi, so I got a W90Vp-X2 from Newegg about a week ago, and I've been looking for all the info I can find on essential updates that I should install. What would you guys recommend for me?(in the way of VGA drivers and Bios updates...etc) Oh and I'm not sure if this is right but with basically right out of the box I'm getting 11305 3DMarks. Is this what I should be getting if both of the video processors are working in crossfire?
Thanks for the help in advanced!
Matt
P.S. If you could leave a link that would be even more helpful! -
Hello Guys....i was just wondering if anyone would know or is able to answer my question.
Could the Intel Q9550S CPU run on the W90VP A-1???
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115210&Tpk=intel q9550s -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
no it won't. that's a socket 775 and the w90 is a 478. you would have to get a mobile 478. (also known as socket p)
-
Thanks dondadah.....
i really want to upgrade the Q9000....butt i dont want to fork over a boatload of cash for the qx9300
