that CPU test is suppose to run like that. my comp is 3.2 dual and it runs at 1 and 0, and sometimes 2.

 

Ah, alright. I'm new to running benchmarks. I got 11.5k without doing anything aside from modding the drivers with vics 9.4.

 

Just installed 9.4 with the Master/Master OC flash this evening... easier than I thought it was going to be. I hit 15118 now in 3dmark (w/ a 2.7ghz OC) and can play Crysis Warhead at enthusiast with no AA. Can max FO3 too, but was able to with the stock drivers. Got my GPUs OC'ed to 625/950 and still might have some headroom.

Discontinued or not, I still think this laptop is a champ.

 

So far W90 is doing relatively well...

I received my most recent RMA back on 7/10/2009. On 7/14/2009 I did receive the grey/white screen of death (once) but for the last 16 days there's been no problem at all. I'm starting to think I have some stability here. Now it's time to mess that up and install W7.

 

Out of curiosity, would either of you happen to have been browsing this particular web site when this occurred?

 

My last few posts on here have been from my W90.

 

When I was having that probem regularly, this site absolutely would trigger it. Especially, it seemed, while typing in a post (bad luck i'm sure).

 

Listed my w90vp in NBR section. the w90vp is indeed a powerful system. seeing that i can play crysis maxed resolution and very high at 20-30 FPS. well doesn't seem like that updated drivers is coming anytime soon. so i'm gona have to get a M17x. good luck to you all.

hmmm now I am having 1 problem .... using the stock driver right now and stock vbios ... my master 1:0:0 can only max @ 605/920 .... but my 2nd (slave) card can max @ 770/1050 using the AMD GPU Tool provided and find max included with it.

 

770/1050? jesus! My max is around 625/955 for both cards. I also didn't have any success overvolting the cards. I might give it another try when I come back home though.

 

Hmm whats your gpu score in vantage at that OC?

You may beat the M17X.

 

Best so far is 11,725 GPU, but the CPU wasn't scaling (stayed at 10.3k stock even at 3.6ghz) and there is an issue with Crossfire and screen tearing, so I'm going to send it in for RMA when I get the Q9000 shipped.

This is precisely the exact same circumstance in which I have ever experienced this problem. It seems to occur when browsing this site, it has been triggered most often while typing a post. I'm sure there are other cases where this occurs, but I have had absolutely zero problems outside of NBR and with any and all applications I have used.

Ok...... there is a glitch here lol .... I moved my slave ( the one that hit 770/1050) to master and my old master to slave ....it happens that my old slave ( now the master) won't go pass 610/920 either .... and some how my old master hits even higher ..will post a pic later ...but I guess it's the stock driver problem . but I did just ran vantage with stock everything without the CPU test ( was lazy ) @ both cards 600/900 ...GPU score hit 10842 ....

So... it seems you're supposed to install the drivers over both cards with the Have Disk method, but do you need to flash the cards first to Master/Master? His instructions are a little vague:

Pour gerer le CF faut installer le même drive pour les 2 cartes... le CF est gerer, n'oublier pas de mettre catalyst ai sous standart ou advanced, ainsi que lancer gpu-z... si y'a ecris 2 gpu activer c'est que le CF est gerer !

To run crossfire, you have to install the same driver for both cards... Once Crossfire is run, don't forget to put catalyst AI in standard or advanced, as well as running gpu-z... if it's written there that both gpus are active, then CF is running!

9.7 drivers from sitslot's link don't work. wouldn't even install.

 

Thats because they are desktop drivers.

 

hmm just wondering what is the main differentce between 4870M and 4870 Desktop version (well I know that it's under clock, DDR3 vs GDDR5 ) but it's not like how 280M (which is G92 ) vs GTX 280 (G200) ....

Mobility Modder 1.2.1.0 from driverheaven is out. It contains the 4870x2 driver mod, but it's not work with the W90.
I have modded the ATI 9.7 driver for vista X64. Master/Master flash and the second card dosen't work. No temp under ccc.
I flash back to Master/Slave and the error 43 occurs to the second card.

 

The mobility modder is not adding this &SUBSYS_027E1043 add it and the drivers will install for both cards, but still no crossfire.

Windows 64bits seven/vista on besoin d'une signature qu'il leurs est propre même pour l'install des drivers ATI... donc cela pose soucis si le pilote pour la 4870X2 n'ai pas reellement inscrit dans le cat...

le inf à toujours besoin d'un cat qui lui est propre... je suis entrain de construire un autre inf et cat... pour permettre une meilleur detection. de la 4870X2 mobile..

ça sert à rien a certain de rajouter qu'une simple ligne mobility 4870x2 dans le fichier inf, sa ne fonctionnera pas... faut reconstruire celui-ci.. etc...

I understood where the detection problem came from. It should work, but uninstall all the previous drivers prior to that.
DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING OVER IT.
windows 64 vista/seven need their own signature to install ATI drivers. therefore it is not working if the driver for the 4870x2 is not written inside the cat...
The inf. always need its own cat. I am building another inf and cat for a better detection of the mobile 4870x2.
It is simply useless for some ppl to just add the mobile 4870x2 line inside the inf. It wont work, it need to be rebuilt all the way....

If you're having a problem with the MM not adding IDs you need, if you send them to spike on the MM forum, he will probably try and add them for you.

No they are not working. Trust me i got that same error with 9.6 and 9.7. If you load vantage it will say only one card. If it was as easy as a inf mod we would of figured this out a long time ago. I had drivers working months ago with that error.

No he just modded the inf. They do not work in crossfire.

Hi, im new to this type of stuff but the modded 9.4 driver guide was easy to follow. My only concern is, I don't have a CrossfireX tab under CCC...Isn't there supposed to be? If not, how do I locate to check if my cards are running in crossfire?

Yep you have to flash to install any of these drivers and if you want crossfire we are stuck with Cat 9.4.

If you don't care about crossfire the Cat 9.7 work great.

I'm using the 9.7 to turn off crossfire, when I need crossfire I install the Cat 9.4. Crossfire screws up one of my wargames, no idea why since its a 2d game.

 

So if i flash teh vbios, i can install the drivers provided by Vicious.
Wouls i be able to install the Cat9.7 for windows 7???

 

Right now i have windows 7 running 9.7ccc and 9.4 driver working in crossfire fine.

 

Is there much of a performance difference between windows 7 and vista 64 atm?
