I took the plunge at Newegg ,it is in stock NOW!!Because i am leaving friday for a 8 months trip i could not wait any longer.

Just got my RMA back today. Installing OS now. Will report back with any problems but from what I have heard, no one has had any problems with the ones they have been sent as replacements. Is that correct?

To the gentleman from canada who bought his from newegg, how much did customs ding you? I want one and i am in Ontario, not out of the question to hop the border one day to pick it up if i can get it shipped somewhere close.

Anyone know if UPS or fedex has an option to just ship to one of there depots for pickup?

All I paid on mine was the exchange rate and 75.00 for expedited shipping. All in all it came out to be about 3200.00 if I remember correctly. Wish they released this when our dollar was on par lol.

The problem with buying from newegg.com is that apparently if you connect from a Canadian IP Address it will not let you buy. You could have a friend in the US order it but by the time you get your money exchanged and drive down there, I think it would come out to about the same.

As for delivery, they just dropped mine on the front step for all to see then drove away. Having it delivered to a Depot would be a good idea but I don't know if they would do it.

If you live near Richmond Hill, you could deliver it to my place as my wife is always home on Maternity leave then come pick it up that night.

I'm from Ontario as well.. i orderd my A1 from Xotic.. you will have to pay the exchange rate as well as the taxes when it arrives (13%). If you chose the expedited delivery it will include the brokerage fee. There is no duty on technology products.

Justin from Xotic was excellent in answering my questions regarding having it sent to Canada (use the live support)

 

that would be a good step!...and just make sure you keep her in the loop. it's portable, so you can go in the same room she is...just break out the head phones. smile and a few whispers of "i love you" while you get crushed by the opposing team for paying to much attention to your wife...lmao!

 

Lol so true. Had my first experience when my w90 was working. Was raiding in WoW and she wanted to sit with me. I had ventrilo running on the speakers. Was pretty funny to see her reaction to the things my crackhead guild was sayin. And she sure did get me killed

 

My Newegg.ca purchase was the same as madmech's...
But it should be noted that the exchange rate is covered in the cost of the laptop (just look at the pricing difference between Newegg.com and .ca).
You also pay the appropriate taxes and shipping cost when you order through Newegg.ca.
It's all done in Canadian dollars.

You should not have to pay anything extra when the laptop arrives on your doorstep

 

The software that controls the volume buttons on the laptop. Which utility/driver is it on Asus's site?

Someone said Newegg got'em in stock now? I just checked again, nothing. Those news about Asus are not helping. I'm waiting on Justin to tell me when P5797 will become available.

Oh and WoW is the worst enemy of my girlfriend, there's no understanding how I can spend 5 hours a day with my laptop instead of being around her.

I'm pretty much as frustrated as an owner of W90 at this point, what if I do get to guy it from either Xotic or Newegg, and it goes south on me, while I'm in Europe??!!! I'm not going to be able to deal with it till I'm back, so thats till July!! I got till April 20th to make this decision. Why do i even need it, if I only play WoW?! Oh by the way, is 4gig ram currently enough for a laptop?

 

Your chances of getting a bad unit now are the same as any laptop on the market. Asus has fixed the error and everything seems to be running fine.

As for your two questions, 4GB is OK on a laptop but the W90 comes with 6GB.

As for the other question, yes you do need it. You need it with every fiber of your being. Your very existence depends on it. Also, once you buy it your WoW character will level up, your will get bigger and you will be carried around everywhere by a Unicorn that also makes coffee.

oh Warhammer!! Its a good pvp MMO, I was asked to join so many times now ,by my friends. I wasted so much into DAoc 2, not even funny, no more. I got time for only one game.... or else my friends won't see me at all, plus there's a chance of me getting shot by my girlfriend as well.

I also been shooting some heads lately as Sniper and the most adrenaline character is Spy by far.Playing on a Gateway FX 7811 with a x9100 and raid 0 (320 gb seagate 7200rpm).
Got the Gateway refurbished from Tigerdirect for 680 and playing on a Hanns G 28 "monitor (this monitor is awesome)
Now waiting for the W90 beast to arrive friday.I will try the x9100 on it just to give you guys some more fun news!!

Exchange rate is the difference between two forms of currency.
Tax is what your government charges you for buying things.
Duties are import charges.

I believe USPS uses your local mail service or UPS if a local service in unavailable. It's perfectly safe within the US, but personally I wouldn't send anything international with it because I've been told by the post office that they can't track the package once it leaves the US. I do love using it for US-domestic things though and prefer it to UPS.

I see you are in Indonesia, so I would probably recommend paying the extra for UPS.
