I'll just say she gets my thumbs up for manner of attire. Jet though is really I think overall the coolest with his cut & dry sense of humor as far as personality.

Bebop is also one of the only anime that I think you can watch dubbed, infact I say bebop maybe better in english than it was in japanese.

Cowboy Bebop is definately my favorite of all time and Ed was my favorite. Now, back on topic . . . I am really frustrated that Xotic is charging so much for the Q9100 over that crappy Q9000 . . . I wanted to keep the thing under $3k, as it stands now, i can get the Q9000 laptop and buy a QX9300 for less than I can get it from Xotic with the Q9100 in it! If I wanted to build the thing myself, I would not want the RAM, both HD's, no OS and no Drive, I could buy all that crap cheaper and install it myself. Sorry, just frustrated at the processor pricing . . . I am tempted to not get the Asus and get something else. The M17 is looking like the best deal at the moment . . .

 

the reason the cost is so high djgiron is because it is not a stanard option, they only get 1 kind of setup from Asus if they change it they have to buy the parts at retail cost (probably a bit cheaper wholesale I would imagine) then since they are changing the hardware they void the asus warrenty and then have to offer you there own warrenty instead, so part of the cost is insurance to them for the warrenty too I would imagine.

Like you said you can buy one yourself cheaper but then your out of a warrenty. I would just stick with the q9000 for now and see how it is, if its not good enough may as well go up to the qx9300 and skip the q9100 as it wont be too much better I dont think.

 

Ya hopefully you can pull a %25 OC out of the box with that Q9000 stable, then everything would be peachy .

I think so too. I've been wanting to pull the trigger on the W90 since it came out, but there are just too many issues, too many questions, and now with the ASUS G71Gx announcement another machine on the horizon that actually might meet my needs better.

So today I take delivery of a new ASUS N81Vp-C1 as a "hold-over" machine, and sell my neighbor the "old" N80. Yeah, I know, it's a pretty different route but will let me dip my bill into the new ATI GPUs - I haven't run an ATI since the 2600.

Best of luck to you all, especially Striker who is still waiting for a fully functional W90 a month and a half after buying and paying for one and getting the ball rolling here. Hopefully "third time is the charm;" you must have the patience of Job, S-man.

 

It looks like I just missed being included in the first batch of W90Vp-A1's from xoticpc. My order status is still "(Phase 1 (Pending Parts or Item Arrival))".

Justin, if you don't mind me asking, how many did Asus allow you on the first shipment and when do you expect to see the next?

I named my Corgi "Ayn" partly because of Cowboy Bebop, but she's female so I went with the way Ayn Rand spelled her name (I know, actually two completely different names, but they are pronounced the same).

Also have a stray cat that hangs around my house that we call "Ryoko" and a Collie named "Washuu". Dogs we had previously years ago were called "Akira" and "Tenchi".

 

That is what I am hoping for (or at least the 17% stock Asus overclock function). Regardless, I do a bit of 3D rendering so the quad cores are a better choice for me even at 2.0ghz. Should handle any game I throw at it too. Right now I'm mostly playing Warhammer Online, so it's nothing extremely intensive.

I'll probably wait out the year under the Asus "accidental damage" warranty and then upgrade next spring to a beefier quad. I honestly don't see the 9000 having any trouble playing anything that is currently out there or coming out in that time though (and who knows, I may be looking at some new shiny thing by then instead).

There have been allot of questions with the Turbo Gear use with the Quad. Just used and it works! Here are a couple screen shots.

1st one is Stock CPUZ
2nd one is displaying the Turbo Gear OC Menu
3rd one shows CPUZ with a 15% OC

Buss speed went up to 1221MHz and CPU went up to 2.29GHz

I have read a few people dislike of the Q9000, and I am in Iraq on a remote base, so it is not like I can return it or anything in a timely manner (or use the warranty in a timely manner either). Fortunatey I will be ordering in about 2 weeks, so I have some more time for things to shake out (is the M17 really going to get the 4870's, how does the W90 perform really, Will a MBP play the games I want). Unfortunately the W90 has moved to #2 on my list now . . .

 

Good point, Striker, also, if you check out the forums @XoticPC.com, they've got some other info on the A1. I'm not sure if it's true with your X1, but the A1 can't overclock in battery only mode. Not that I'm concerned about that, my laptop is rarely on battery, but I thought it was an interesting note.

I thought it was a bit odd that the "Windows Performance Rating" lowest subscore was Memory at 5.7. 6 GB...REALLY VISTA?! REALLY?! loolol

 

I think you are right. In the coming days we will put a C2D in there and see if the 17% boost option shows.

 

it is not the amount of 6 gb - it is the speed of the ddr2-ram...

 

You have to be carefull with vista and the score it gives for memory. On my W90 (before it got RMA'd) I ran the whole vista experience score lots and the memory scores fluctuated between 5.5 and 5.9. What I was able to determine was the score seemed to bounce based on what other "tasks" I had going on in the background at the time I ran it.

With limited tasks I would get a solid 5.9 for memory.

Ya on the Xotic forums he posted that raid was available which would mean Raid0 being one of them.
