Id bet you a major appendage that the 4ghz qx9300 overclock was not done in turbogear, its just a set fsb increase and the rest is all math.
assuming it was the max of 17% (and that turbogear works with the qx9300 at all it may be disabled) 2.53 x 1.17 = about 3ghz a 500mhz increase.
Just wait a few more days and I should have my computer and I am going to get 3ghz minimum just you wait.
No doubt you can expect more from both the q9100 and qx9300 but more enough to be worth the money? probably not.

After a day with the new unit, it has performed without issue. Any and all of the problems that I had with the rma'd unit are gone. No lock ups and no video issues. Every game, LFD, AOC, Assassin's Creed all maxed out and running smooth as silk. I only have to test the HDMI, headphone and mike ports. I am still salty over the whole mess but this machine is rapidly making my bad memories go away.

We need to get a few W90s over in this thread:

14k is their current 3DMARK06 record. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
15k is standard for the w90 and 20k the record.
-
Gothicaleigh Warhammer is the fail, can't even get the last patch, error's over and over!!!
-
3dmark06 scores were uploaded on Xotics forums for the Q9000 version
Stock score is 11427 and Overclocked 15% is 12955
Just throwing them up for those interested in that sorta thing.
-
And why the loss of interest in the W90? -
Like striker, I may sell my w90 as well, thought I'd be asking for a lower price since it's been in use for 2 weeks or so. It's just too big, I just leave the thing on my desk really, and I could do that with a cheaper and more powerful desktop. I think I might upgrade my current desktop and maybe get a 15 inch or smaller laptop that's more portable.
-
Finally, the all optimistic Striker choose to give up on his W90
@Striker
Come on dude, you're the fire and flames of this thread, don't give up.
It's your optimistic view that lit the fire of hopes in the other owner's heart.

Anyone selling one located in Michigan let me know

Some of the numbers thus far havent made alot of sense, especially for a machine running 2 cards, but then again crossfire and crysis for instance were never the best pals

what game is the best friend of Crossfire anyway?
-
Here is a few examples you can see in the graphs of games that scale well with Crossfire, though it does show there is a speed bump from crossfire in crysis, its not as massive as other games.

brought this over from his forum
There are no multiplier options in the BIOS with the Q9000 CPU. You can still overclock the CPU through the Turbo Gear software in windows -
they had to do some "secret handshake key code" for that...lol
i forget who was doing it...could have been tester though or some one else. -
-
Take care and i hope everything works out for you . -
Golly, i thought Striker was joking...
Farewell to you, Striker... -
Take care man, won't be the same here without ya.
How do you check the bios version and the build date? -
God speed man....

Anything endorsed by ATI, vs the opposite anything endorsed by Nvidia (aka Crysis) outside fo that its about equal. Just my personal analysis. -
On that note, I edited my modded 4870 mobility driver.. Would someone be willing to download and install? -
-
Any of the current W90 owners do you notice that the media bar along the top (brightness etc) bounces when you put pressure on it? The whole section above the keyboard seems to be really bouncy.
I just received this W90 today (supposed to be a brand new unit) to replace my RMA'd unit and well it just doesn't seem as solid as my first tbh.
Also the unit came with finger prints etc (new with finger prints....um not mine), but I believe they took current "new" models and had to update the bios etc so even though its still new the ASUS had to update them before shipping out. -
not sure about this one...i really need someone to run these test again. -

Just extract and copy into the 9.3\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH6_INF\ directory overwriting the 2 files in there. It *should* install by just executing setup.exe.
I didnt take the time to zip it into a full installation file..test this first. 3870 users reported problems with CCC installing with 9.3 - So, they have been installing the driver package first..then installing CCC after. Anyhow, lemme know. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah i have a problem installing it also. i have to use have disk method. and it still won't install ccc. i had to use 9.1's CCC.
-
don, I suggest you download this one.. it should install 9.3 catalyst as well. also, fixed scaling.
I edited this one about 30 minutes ago.. changed some stuff up. should open a few new CCC options once installed, and should also allow for scaling, no hangs after sleep, etc etc. It's primo -

Things are looking good so far, I wasn't expecting anything ridiculous with Crysis, because of all that's been mentioned as far as anti-ATI business from Crytek. I'm not surprised that it got those numbers:
1) No OC.
2) No drivers.
3) Poorly optimized Crysis.
Of course the fact that it's only using 4.0Ghz of processing power is probably an issue, but hey, I didn't buy the thing to play Crysis. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
OK i just ran the benchmark of dmc4. and i am having some issue's with my drivers. mt t9400 scores @2.53ghz was high then my qx9300 @3.06ghz. Lol. i messed with some settings so i'm going to change it back.

its going to be hard for people to understand that many scores are going to be lower on the quad but performance in a game the same or possibly better.
all that matters here is min & avg frame rate not the max, max is going to be way higher on the higher clocked dual -

Ahh update, just talked to Ken and asked him whats up with the orders.
He said they are going to be shipping the W90vp-A1's on Monday or Tuesday, so with overnight that means I should have mine Wednesday at the latest.
So much to do, so much to do.
I really wanted to do some Win7 testing but that will have to wait. For now I want to focus on a working method to update the drivers and lay to bed the quad vs dual core debate with a ton of benchmarks, and teach everybody how to overclock the quad past turbogear specs. -

Anyone know where i can download the newest version of the ASUS Turbo Gear Extreme application. I currently have the V1.00.22 version. I need it because the fact the program no longer runs on my computer. When i first received my computer, it worked fine and about 3 days later it stopped working. When i start the program, the little green circle runs but after a few seconds disappears. I can still run the OC mode by pressing the touch sensitive button on the top but im stuck at a 10% OC or w.e. stock is. If anyone knows please let me know. thanks in advance .
