Lol dont worry its a comin :) I can hear the thunder now and the forecast is torrential rain followed by sleet and hail the size of softballs. Thank goodness i dont care what others think or i would have been in for a world of hurt :) i also would not have pulled the proverbial trigger either . At the end of the day im going to enjoy this barring any unforeseen explosions, electric shocks or stuck pixels .
I have every PC game ever worth owning, so im going to be good and busy for sometime to come, toying around with this pig . Oink Oink .

the same way you think they sold 1000's. i didn't see to many links to that either :)
along with the 11 replys on newegg. and they we're the only one selling them. and after 4 people hit buy it now, the thing is gone for another week.

yep, pretty str8 forward for even an optimistic guy like your self. :)

nah, im hella optimistic, but come on now...1000's of broke w90's is where i draw the line...lol
they had like 60 feedback post for the fx 6831 when it first came out. and they we're selling them at every best buy in america. now them..they sold 1000's of those. and they we're broke too...lol

same with the 6860fx. 60 replys the first week of being out for sale.

now the w90vp with 11 replys. maybe 12, i haven't went back and checked yet...lol

Striker, I always like your optimistic post and your positive attitude. :D
And I agree with almost all point in your post above except this one:

Let say Asus did only sold 50 or so W90 units like John assumption. Do you really expect them (Asus) to say it out loud that the W90 selling has been a failure with only 50 units sold?

Lol i think this is all hilarious tbh. Striker you sold yours and john has no intention of buying one, yet you guys are bickering over something so pointless, i think its great

Lets pool all the energy flying around this virtual room and figure out why you cant install new drivers on this thing.

Btw im still excited and cant wait to receive it . got the rush processing deal and over night so they need to hurry it up :).

Hahaha Yes another storm is coming im sure lol

Newegg did get the exclusive though and im sure they sold alot more then we will ever know and not to be taking lightly the fact that the W90 was in the top selling laptop list for 2weeks in a row, which i doubt 100 machines would put it there, considering they have like a million laptops for sale on the EGG.

I dont feel like getting into the whole argument because to me its as pointless as people complaining about the 4870s not having DDR5 when those cards still dont exist lol? .

ill be sitting on the side lines watching the verbal cannon balls fly and see whats left after the war is over.

The 4870's suck, the drivers suck, the overclocking sucks, the screen size sucks, the chip set sucks, basically the W90Vp plain sucks all around.

And I just ordered mine! Wahoooo!

TIP: to get the T9600 running at it's full 2.8Ghz rated speed in Windows (without downclocking)... set the following in BIOS:

Under the ADVANCED tab > CPU Configuration

    Hardware Prefetcher [Enabled]
    Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch [Enabled]
    Max CPUID Value Limit [Disabled]
    Intel (R) Virtualization Tech [Enabled]
    CPU TM Function [Disabled]
    Exicute-Disable Bit Capability [Enabled]
Intel (R) SpeedStep (TM) Tech. [Disabled]
    Intel (R) C-State Tech. [Disabled]

This should also work with the Quads in the A1 as well.

    YMMV

The highest OC on my W90 was 17% (3.29Ghz)
I'm not quite sure it's stable at that setting, but the 16% overclock seems fine.

been doing this for a long time and just because some over worked and under paid employee says something like the sky is falling, doesn't mean i have to run out and believe it.:)

I say there are plenty of satified W90Vp owners right now, and it seems your point is there is not, right? Hey, give ASUS Sales a call. You know yourself, EVERY unsatisfied buyer will post a bad review..... very few HAPPY buyers even bother.
happy people post happy replies to let others know how good it is. and that just aint happening. i gave two examples of that already.

Do you really believe that NewEgg held an exclusive, for so few units..... and that ASUS's debut of this notebook would be so slight? Wouldn't be much value for their marketing dollar, now would it? Please!
are you serious? they sell over 1000 plus products or more every day. like they seriously care about 1 laptop. i think you need to re look at the total picture and not just from your buying point in a sub category of many on there web site.

Anyhow, my point in my post was to lend thought regarding NewEgg. Your point seems to aire pessimism to the W90Vp in general. Are you really telling everyone here the W90Vp is a bad choice, in your opinion?
i think you really already know the answer to this one. and i already told people they should hold off till the major bugs are worked out.
and hopefully those are and seem to be on this last batch from them
    .

As far as my optimistic view, it's a choice, and state of mind. What other choice is there? Optimism -vs- Pessimism, both choices we make, and both can have significantly different impacts to our problem solving abilities, work ethic, social skills, happiness, health, relationships, and quality of life in general. Two very different approaches to problem solving..... two very different approaches to life. <--- and this here... this aint rocket science class. no need to put more into it. it's real simple

Sure, I get bummed about things like the next guy, but I am sorry my approach does not appeal to you more.

that was your opinion and i gave mine. seems mine which is more closer to the truth doesn't seem to agree with you. i tell it like it is and not how i wish or want it to be.:) your tring to debate something that really doesn't need debating. they have not sold no 1000 w90vp-x1 what ever's in all the neweggs around the world. and if you want the answer. you can always call them up and have one of your indepth conversations with them..one of them might let you in on the reality of the situation..*LOL*

I think all you did was turn off speedstep and thats more of a bad thing, just makes the cpu run full speed all the time, when by default it downclocks to save power & heat and will automatically go up on its own when the cpu load is high enough. Meaning if you need the power its still there.

leave speed step alone. it's a good thing. helps keep those temps low.

how far away is your lappy ViciousXUSMC? should i go over to gentech and see how it's looking?.. :D they aren't that far.

quadzilla. man i hope you get the good stuff.

Meh.... I've never liked Speedstep that much. Though what you say is indeed true.
I'd rather have the added performance that's there all of the time. The W90 actually does seem to perform better in general tasks with Speedstep disabled.

I have no idea actually Ken said they should be in on Monday or Tuesday, he called Asus sales rep and they said they were calling him back and they never did.

I want to think they held the shipment due to issues on the assembly line, if I have to wait for a better unit thats ok. I have a lot of toys to keep me busy, just got my Wii arcade adapter done not to long ago and like 30 new wii games, got a few new ps2 games also.

Started playing Ar Tonelico today and old school square style rpg game and I am really liking it. Good to get back to the roots. I am a bit worried about emulation on the q9000 PCSX2 does not use 4 cores I do not think only 1 or 2, so for a very demanding emulator its going to not work so well. Though its running fine on my q6600 @3.6 with no slowdown and I have none of the optimizations on or speed ups, so im sure with a few of those on that it can run on the q9000

to be honest, im still debating it, but i have to wait for the clevos to hit.
this is a good starting block. no doubt, but for it to be great, you have to spend on it. which pushes it in the 3k to 4k range. (even with ebay-ssd's qx9300-2nd hd-bluray)

    besides, if i wasn't interested...i wouldn't be in here.. :)

jamie; you also have a very valid point. i have caught myself doing as you. turning off speed step, but in the end...i cut it back on.. :)

quadzilla: e is still thinking on it :D

ViciousXUSMC : hopefully waiting in this instance is a good thing. they know it's going up for review so im thinking they want to get you one of their best. (speculation of course)

There is no added performance trust me, the clock speed goes up instantly when it is needed, there is no perceivable delay, test it with cpu-z and wprime.

I need to get back into Ar Tonelico. I'm pretty sure I left off somewhere near the halfway point. It's definitely worth playing, and the voice acting isn't bad either.

If you don't have Odin Sphere, go get it!

Odin Sphere never head of that one, I'll go google it and check it out.

Oh for the record, I got news that Asus has not shipped units to any of the resellers yet.

That would include BTOtech, Gentech, & Xotic so we may be waiting a while before we get them.

Oh Quadzilla, what happened to us being brothers in arms sitting on the fence waiting for the air to clear over so many upcoming units? :)

    Heh......

I can't pull the trigger on $2200+ just yet. If Newegg wants to toss me a sale of, oh $1800 shipped, I'd snap it up pronto. :D (You hear me Newegg?!)
I'm a sucker for Below MSRP....

3-5% OC on the QX9300 with W90Vp? Hmmmm.....

Strange fs Asus haven't shipped any units to resellers, how come Quad ordered one one from Newegg today? Also would suck to order $2200 laptop and get somebody's returned/refurbished unit.

sure hope they aint trying to kill off the qx9300's speed. or any q cpu for that matter. that would truly suck!
and a 5 percent over clock?? are you kidding me! that's ridiculous to an over clocker or a true gamer. things are not looking great on the home front.

It's really odd, because I pre-ordered mine from Xotic before gothica, and then his went from Phase 1 to Phase 4 apparently yesterday, while mine, which went from Phase 1 to 2 when the shipment was on its way from Asus, has not updated. Not to be mean to gothica, but wouldn't they ship mine before they shipped his? Maybe there's just an update mistake. I hope so, as Justin said it takes a while for these to get out here to Iraq.

I tried to talk to the sales rep on Skype, and she told me something, but I couldn't understand the connection was so shoddy, I just said "Thanks, I appreciate it." and got off the line.

    I hate this country.

Items get out here (Iraq) in around 10 days to 2 weeks. I have had some packages from my girl get her in 6 days! I would have it shipped home though, so it can be insured for its trip out here. I recently ordered a photoframe that "disappeared" somewhere on the way out here and have to wait 75days before the company will do anything about it. If it would have been insured I could have filed a claim with the USPS already.

Well i had said i was on the fence for so long about it(W90) and then got home yesterday clicked the page and BAM!! it was there , the temptation was to great and i succumbed to it . I did want to wait, but not till june, july for the M98 as thats to long and i really wanted a 18.4(and not one that is made of shiny plastic) more then anything at this point as well, so not many choices knocking at my door in that screen size :). I know im going to be happy but im also a realist and know the Nvidia cards are going to be giving a decent beat down on the 4870/50DDRwhatever cards but i can live with it as ill be happy and im also happy i can toss in a quad down the road probably soon rather then later :).

Lol thanks for the vote of confidence on getting someone's used leftover return :p.

I thought Gothicaliegh already said Xotic shipped theres, so it would seem that Xotic did get some in, not to mention they had there test unit shipped over night while there others were shipped ground to them .

Hey as I said I'm buying one regardless, and knowing my luck I'll probably be the one to get returned one :)
