TBH if i get one that was tested over and over to make sure its rock solid IE used, but not really "used", i would be just fine with that .

Turns out USPS takes a little longer to ship because they have to come and pick it up. I'll be getting my laptop shipped in a day or two.
-
Mine is out on the truck for delivery .

Fair enough ,i did not have much time to do testing because i was on my way to Brazil so i just open the box ,put everything in the backpack and to the airport i went.
Here in Brazil i found the bad pixels.Been running the UDPixel on it for 1 day already and no bueno!!
Anyways ,is no big deal but i know i can get this replaced in the first 30 days but been here in Brazil will be a pain in the but.
Other than that the w90 is awesome,is huge ,big and powelful.the screen is gorgeous and is the first notebook screen that i can match with a desktop one.My Gateway FX Lg 1920x1200 looks like a crap next to the w90 one.My first 3dMark score was 14494 without any mods. -

Wow strikers back and this thread just exploded haha. Congratz quad and please find away to manually OC that beast

@GTamega; does your media bar on the top have some "flex" I think I said "bounce" before when you touch the pad say to reduce the screen brightness?
I don't recall my prior W90 (RMA'd) having so much flex/bounce when I used the touch pad as this "new" replacement. Its annoying and takes just a weee bit away from the overall solid feel the W90 gives one.
Im not sure ASUS would consider that grounds for a replacement or fix but everyone has their quirks. -
Yeah I figured ASUS was being crafty about it. I PMed kinc too actually and he didn't respond to me either -_- . Arg I actually bought this laptop under the assumption I'd be able to oc the out of it as I have access to some LN2. Quite disappointing. -
Pretty sure it's a W90. -

Also, dead pixels...I have a cluster of 3 on my Vaio, I rarely notice them though. I guess it's all relative to the eye of teh beholder. Also, every time I hear that phrase, I think of an actual beholder. Nerd alert. -
Well i ordered mine. Hopefully it comes before i go back to Camp Lejeune

FWIW if you're overclocking, you should disable SpeedStep/Intel TM/etc. In my P5Q Pro BIOS there's 3 settings I disabled but I can't remember which 3. It's a stability issue, when you're FSB overclocking there are a lot of system components that are affected, and when you factor in the multiplier stepping that SpeedStep does, it's just not a good mix.

Quad, congrats on the purchase!
Now maybe someone can push the rig a little
I look forward to your feedback on it.
-
ok i will keep that in mind -
Lol just turned on my desktop because the W90 is doing its thing with that whole setup thing
so ya its here i got home about 20 mins ago .
The thing is a beast -
Congratz Quadzilla!!!!!
-
Well i placed my order in with xotic and now my order is delayed because of "verifying" my shipping address since my billing address in in the states while i am in in the USMC in Afghanistan AKA Camp Lejeune FWD
-
Blue tape with white lettering along top and bottom . the way this thing was packed i can tell it was never touched thats for sure. It also came in some huge box filled with packing peanuts followed by the actual asus brown box then the black box inside that .

Any word on when this Newegg exclusive is going to come to an end or if Asus is going to ramp up the apparently slow production of these units because man the wait is killing me! Ive emailed around to all the local distributors and Ive got bubkiss. What happened the the 1 or 2 week delay for a Canadian release

Quick question here, I wil be recieving my W90Vp-A1 from XOTIC tomarrow, assuming UPS is right, and was wondering if its worth wiping it and doing a clean Vista Ultimate64 (which I own) install to get rid of the bloatware. I am makeing the assumption that all the drivers I need are avaliable either 1) online at ASUS's site or on a seperate CD in the package. Never owned a ASUS so not sure if it comes with mass bloatwatre or not. Thanks
-
Does it come with a 'Driver cd/dvd" where I can load the drivers from. I know in a HP laptop you have a C:\swsetup directory that includes all the drivers/extra programs etc......I useally save that off and can pick and choose drivers/programs from there. Does ASUS have something like that ?
Or, I notice on ASUS's website there is a Download area for W90Vp , does that have all the drivers I need ? Not that I really NEED Ultimate, but it was a door prize... -
Did anyone buy from NewEgg today? I'm on the site since 9am.

Right now i just updated windows and im making a factory OS image with acronis(which btw is free if you own a seagate drive which is whats in the W90),
After that ill be removing the bloat which does not look to bad as others have said, then create another image of that one, then i will start to dump some games on there and start tinkering .
Oh and thanks to everyone for all the Congrats's on the new system -
Ya i just removed those you mentioned as well . One thing that is shocking is how much software is Asus branded, it seems they have a tool for everything in the uninstaller. I doubt ill remove all that stuff as i havent toyed with it enough yet to see if its good or bad .

I'm tired of refreshing.....

Lol i just saw noseguard20s review on newegg for the system and look what he wrote

Pros: It plays Crysis on Very high settings at 1920 x 1080 at 80fps and it never dips below 60. It also maxes out Gta4 on the highest settings between 75 - 80fps. This thing is faster than my desktop, which has the gtx 260 in sli and the core i7 965. I'd definitely recommend this laptop. Its the fastest gaming machine period. It faster than 99 percent of the strongest desktops
Cons: None -
Suprised you dont remember him coming to these forums demanding benchmarks ?
he would make a new account then get banned an hour later etc.
-
Lol i would never honestly post one there that is just not my style.

I'm off to gym, I can't do this anymore...

I don't understand why Newegg allows people who don't purchase from them to write reviews. It never fails that anytime a review does not carry the "purchased from Newegg" tag, it will contain some ridiculous bullcaca. -
Alright well Asus pre sales said they aren't currently shipping to anybody in Canada and he doesn't know when or if they will at all. Best he could give me was call back at the end of the month. Im really starting to think that Asus isn't turning out very many or was expecting such popular demand with this laptop. Seems like Newegg gets maybe 5 or 10 in every couple days with the a-1s going to xotic and gentech.
Looks like i need to find someone In a non Newegg state (Michigan?) to receive it for me, then I can drive and pick it up. Thats if i can catch it when it comes up 0.o
haha! and no i wasnt inferring you goth, you just managed to sneak in there lol! -
Well get strong than

Where in Canada are you located? -
Hey!... That look's like my X1...
You sure you didn't come over and steal mine???
... Oh, wait.... my baby is still here -
Just ordered this stand for ma W90 : http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/notebook_products/stands/devices/3064&cl=ca,en
Also ordered the Logitech illuminated Keyboard and some AS5 (I'm planning to replace the thermal gunk Asus uses on the W90) -
-
Oh i guess Hw monitor does not monitor ATI cards so need to find an alternative
-
-
HWMonitor works fine on ATI cards, it just doesn't read M98 cards yet. They might be using a different temperature sensor.
-
But messing with thermal paste is fun
Lol. yeah it could indeed dwarf the stand, but Logitech does state the following:
"Works with virtually all notebooks: Use it with your current notebookand your next one."
So, we'll see -
