I'll have mine up tomorrow. Plan on running 3DMark06, Vantage, FEAR, Cinebench, and Crysis (if I get a chance to pick it up).

Yep its available but i ran it both default 550/850 and at 600/900 and noticed no difference numbers wise. Strange thing i found with these cards is there is no option to enable/disable Crossfire i guess other then disabling AI . Im not sure which games will take advantage of advanced AI or standard . What the heck mipmapping does for performance . i could go on and on because im such a Noob with ATI its scary.

I just received my W90Vp-X1 about a week or so ago from newegg. I was just wondering if there are any drivers that I will need to install to get the best gaming performance period, such as for the video cards, etc. Thanks!

seems like the 9800M GTXs does real well with high settings, but the 4870s does slightly better with very high. GTX 280M should do better, as projected, and even if they manage to get the newer catalyst drivers working in the W90, I reckon the GTX 280M SLi would fare better because SLi scales better than CrossfireX in Crysis.

e-wrecked: is this the most recent version of your 9.3 64-bit tweaks? I tried to install using these INFs and both the Setup.exe and Have Disk method do not work.

When using Have Disk, it says the INF is invalid and cancels. When using Setup.exe all it offers to install is ATI Install Manager and Visual C++ Redistrib.

    Thoughts?

hummm, ill re run it on the fly with the the same benchmark tool quad used and see what that comes back as.. i dont like using it because it doesnt really give true scores most of the time.
remember, that's 25 fps stock no over clock of anything.

i ran gtx280 clocks to give an idea of what to expect from the gtx280m

if ati scaled better as a whole. and had decent driver support..i would not have nvidia cards. :)

Thing is, it depends on the game. CrossfireX can scale poorly in comparison (i.e Crysis) or can scale really well (i.e. CoD 4). Same goes for SLi in certain games as well.

Terry it will be different from game to game how it scales with resolution, so i just ran crysis@very high at 1280x1024 for you and i got 33 fps vs 1920x1080 it was 25fps so an 8 frame difference.

    quadzilla:
what are you getting for cpu times in encoding files? wprime?
    kind of curious.
and run a virus scan and watch the cores go. do this for about 20 seconds. see how many files it scans, then disable like 2 cores and see how many files it scans. when you get time sir. :)

nevermind, i lost my test for that.. :D

Terry he is running a desktop CPU in his notebook so you have to take that first into consideration , secondly its a quadcore ,thirdly he spent a bucket load more then the W90 costs :). So when you factor all that in he better still be whooping my butt in numbers.

i wouldn't be so quick to jump yet. quadzilla just got his hands on this machine. you might want to give him a week or so to feel it out and get into the groove.

man! i been trying to get people to understand this since i bought this thing! im in for 3300 give or take. it had better be in the top 5 around the world class..lol which it is.
and i keep telling people, the w90 is a great machine, if you spend the money to make it so. at 2200, your missing some components. with all top of the line components would put it at the top of the heap for sure. but the heap is split between gaming and business applications. what also appeals is the fact that they opened up fsb over clocking. that is a major selling point right there. the d901c doesn't have that. and we are not for sure about the d900f or the m980nu. not to mention if the alienware or ocz whitebook are allowed to run 4870's.(just added info)

Well, I'll tell you now, if Crysis is your main game, you're better off with the Sager. I experienced this with my system and it's safe to say that the scaling from low resolution to high resolution has a smaller range compared to the nVidia cards.

If you really want to FSB OCing your system (via SetFSB or something), you might want to consider trading your Q9650 to a Q9550s.

    im knowing stirker! :D

very true about the warranty, but like in all the other forums and what the manufactures hint around is this...you do what you want when it comes to your cpu, but if it's the direct cause to your failure. warranty is void for sure. you have to put back most of the factory parts if not all and take out your hard drives (sometimes) then they will test it and repair. then send it back and you put your parts back. asus is a bit different since they know all about over clocking. lol. they ain't trying to go for it. and it's not as easy to burn up a laptop over clocking s it is a desktop. more people we're messing up the bios than burning up a mid to highend laptop. they don't like to warranty a bad bios flash. since that's the users responsibility. same with vga bios flashing. a bad flash doesn't kill a machine beyond repair..only that of the average user.

    see, we do think alike....lol

    i have:
    qx6800 2.93@ 1066
    q9550 2.83@ 1333
    q6600 2.4 which can over clock to 3.0@ 1333

the plan was to get the qx6800 and over clock it to 3.5 ghz@ 1333 but it wont take in the 9262, but will take in a desktop pc. so it's now for sale..lol
and setfsb deson't work on any d901c/np9262

Not specifically directed to me, but avoid like the plague. The only SSDs anybody should consider are ones with Intel, Indilinx, and Samsung controllers. I bought an OCZ Vertex (Indilinx) drive for my desktop and I'm thoroughly enjoying the 15 second full boot (desktop is visible in 12) and instant open programs. Everything else is JMicron crap. Here's a benchmark of that Patriot drive, these are the types of writes that cause OS stuttering, and as expected, it chokes and dies.

nope. that dude was telling stories. and to top it off, once we called him on it. he suddenly didn't own the laptop anymore and was more concerned about over clocking a t9400 or something. and never showed a shred of proof or evidence about it. gophn hit him up and the guy got amnesia..lol

humm, it has the patriot by 15 megs on read and 5 megs on write
the patriot has an extra 48 megs (so to speak)

There is a specific IOMeter test that exposes the bad SSD controllers, but I don't have it installed. Those bad JMicron drives look fantastic in 95% of benchmarks but the ones they fail, they fail so badly the drives are unusable.

    Interesting Info:
    1) Newegg currently has 247 units in stock, and I was not given any ETA on when are they gonna update the website.
    2) 247 units is the smallest delivery they had on these laptops, by the way this is bach #5. Supervisor could not give the actual amount of sold units, but it is a little over 1000 units(quote" Just about a 1000 units were distributed).

Now I don't know if I can believe what he says or not, but my question is : WHY ARE THEY NOT SELLING THEM????
Just had this conversation over the phone with Newegg's supervisor.

I dont think for the money hadis your going to find a better bang for the buck period . Very fast machine , huge screen , lots-o-ram , 2 year warranty free,1year accidental free,30 day dead pixel guarantee free , backpack free and a free mouse .Take all that stuff that this comes with free and tack it on to a machine that does not and your looking at a grand more(stock 2.8ghzcpu and 6gigs ram are not cheap) . Mine has been rock solid overclocked for the past day and half and i already put it through some decent torture tests so if it were going to crap out on me i should have seen something by now and not to mention i have been at full 17% overclock since i opened the box :).

Actually If you think about it, if 247 is the smallest delivery this can not be bach #5. Something doesn't add up in this story....

Actually i don't care how many they sold, just wanna buy one of them m it!!!
