Ya i had a few issues trying to install the 9.3s but one of the INFs finally took and each inf seems to contain a v3 and v3.1 so its a little bit confusing

 

LOL. Ignore that I edited my 3870 infs. But v3.1 is a revised version. V3 corresponds to 9.3 and 3.1 is 9.3 1st revision, so it's the newer of the 2.

 

Whats wrong with your drivers?

Just one .inf is all you need use it for all the other drivers, if it uses a different .inf file just plug the card strings into the new .inf file.

I had made a small dumb mistake in my file that I saw when I looked at e wrecked's files.

Its the same method I have used in the past for my bluetooth drivers on my wiimote guides.

 

Nah i wanted to run 9.3s to see if it fixed a couple of my game issues i had like flickering in Saints Row 2 but it did not . So im going for a fresh install of 64 and just going to redo everything .

Do you have a bluetooth stack that works with the Wiimotes for the W90s built in bluetooth if you have all the software id love to give a whirl.

bahahahaha omg watch it work after all this BS . They probably fixed it after google sent them a report of the 5000 searches i did for Code43 errors.

Well i guess thats really not much of a fix because its only offering a set of hotfix drivers so its by no means a permanent solution like we have. Im sure for the future it will be in all driver sets but you cant go backwards if you find those drivers perform better for you.

 

hotfix says 4890 and this is "4870X2" not crossfire but it may still fix it.

I was going to see what happened if I flashed back the slave to a slave bios after the new drivers were already on it.

I'll do some lower cpu clock vantage runs tomarrow and prove that a lower cpu speed is going to give me a lower gpu score esp at performance resoltuion.

 

No, those drivers don't solve the problem. I tried them when that link was posted. Ironically, it still gives Error 43!

 

Lol well thats good to know . Code 43 is now a thing of the past for the W90 and i could not be happier.

 

oh last thing to add before i am out tonight, setfsb is only chaning the fsb not the pci buss I think somebody was saying something about that was why we had score changes.

I am 99.9999999% sure its nothing to do with that and its just cpu bottleneck, and I remember looking when using the program and seeing only the fsb change not the pci clocks. Long time ago using a worse version of this tool on my C90S it did move the pci clocks with it and it sucks as it corrupts your hdd and other things rather easy once you get past a small boost.

 

He blocked out that of the release . the first release he gave me had it, then when i sent him my results(diagnosis) he locked it out as he thought it was causing issues .

Our machine will never be fully supported by SETFSB unless we somehow aquire the data sheet for our machine ie the motherboard specs. So this version is the final version so to speak.

Yeah.. So I played Texas hold em for the past five hours and went from 300 down to 150 up, to walking away 5 bucks down. So I missed all the fun here. But, I see that jamiee owns a new record. Ya its been up and down all night . Ive been busy reinstalling vista from scratch and installing all my games/patches etc , always a very time consuming job.

 

only record i have is the fasted t9400 overclocked of coarse ...lol

lol sleep? not me usually but I did get some sleep today. I watched like 15 episodes of naruto last night and took a 4 hour nap.

Im the older kids are about to go fishing and the youngest staying with me. I think this will be a good time to write this guide requested on how to do this.

Pretty much I'll do the step by step on how/what to do, and put all the files into just one zip file to be downloaded.

Guide is started, for me to make it how i want it, it will take a while. Id rather have it finished before posting rather than rush it.

But section is done for how to install the drivers the easy way, next step is the "hard way" teaching how to mid your own .inf files, rip your own bios ect.

 

So for us noobies, will we be able to install new drivers and still have the factory OC abilities? While I am overseas that is what I would prefer to do and hold off on OC until I get back and upgrade to the QX9x00 processor, SSD and better Ram.

The answer to this is a simple: YES

The whole process is actually quite simple and works well enough.
The guide Vicious is writing will just help explain each step for those that might be a little worrisome of mucking around with their new W90.

The ideal solution is that we are just able to install new video drivers right out of the box, but for the time being that's not possible.
Until then, this solution is great and the best part is that it can be undone if a true fix ever materializes.

 

I might try playing around with the BIOS strings this afternoon. If I have any luck, I'll post up the edited version. I'm sure a lot of people would be happy not to have to edit INF's every month when ATI releases new drivers. I'm pretty sure I'll get positive results because I have in the past with other ATI products. Only thing I'm worried about by doing so is losing PowerPlay. Almost had the 9.4 CCC working last night. I'm on the verge of cracking the puzzle. Unit is almost sold, but I want to make sure the new owner has a perfect experience.

On a side note, I might actually miss tinkering with this thing. I'm an electrical engineer, so I guess the R&D work I do on the side for a client will have to tide me over until I have a new toy to play with!

Joe, if you buy with an Amex card and keep all the paperwork, they automatically give you an extra 1 year on top of the 2 year from Asus for free. Do they give out Amex cards in Canadialand?
