Yeah, I noticed that. Probably reached a point in the CPU clockspeed where it doesn't "bottleneck" the GPU anymore. But again, I ran the 2.93ghz FSB pump config twice to see if it would give a higher GPU score than the multiplier-based config, which it didn't.

 

To cool, my friend gifted me Dawn of war 2 on steam for my B-day Its abit off topic but cool nonetheless .

heres more and im surprised its still running . i have done some vantage runs and 06 and scores are not really changing much yet to post but hopefully im on to something .. Temps are creeping up though even idle as you can see.

Atleast my idle temps are back down to normal after reboot . I figured out a way to make Turbo and Setfsb work together and it has to do with that other version of the Turbo i found . .

 

Quad.. Say it. Tell me I'm smart ;P for real tho, older software is usually less restricted but can be more buggy. Anyhow lemme know how it turns out.

 

The number doesn't seem right, could be because it was running too hot? because even Vicious got 14 second.

well im 9 seconds ahead of the 2600mhz dual core and i think you forgot mine is a dual core . quad doesnt come till tomorrow

 

Yes I know you are on Dual Core, 3.6GHz should be very fast, the conclusion is Quad Core's processing speed is faster than Dual Core even at lower clock speed.

 

lol well ill give you some of the credit but it was already on my list of crap to try i just wasnt going to until i got my quad, but was bored tonight . There is only 2 PCs i can find that ever used turbo gear .

Prime is pegging every core you throw at though ?. so by doing the math it made sense when you showed me the 2600mhz at 30seconds and mine at 20 as 1000mhz faster almost equaled 10seconds on 2 cores.atleast thats how i saw it (total speculation). My temps never exceeded 69 degrees either .

 

What's the score without overclock?

Lemme reboot to reset the clocks as thats the trick to this old Turbo . Once you enable Turbo and then close it the clocks stay and thats where the trick kicks in at . So i enable it hit gaming it gos to 3000mhz or so then close it, then Setfsb and start moving it up . Now hopefully this will work for the Qx because once you hit turbo your voltage shoots up on the Quad then you should be able to start moving the slider over alot further then before where you turned on turbo after you moved the Setfsb slider.

 

Guess my math was pretty close.

 

That's about 35% faster with overclocked, very good.

 

Vantage scores are actually lower for some odd reason so ill have to do some more testing as im scoring 10600 everytime be it OC GPUs or not as well so not sure whats happening on that end seeing that i can score 10800 with 3.2ghz. good news is though at these clocks my max temps are only 63/58 and this is just my machine sitting on a flat board on my bed .

 

Ken If I purchase W90 tomorrow morning with overnight shipping will I get it on friday? Depending on your answer I'll place and order.

 

By the way guys, does backpack that comes with X1 any different from A1?

Here's my Q9000 on the W90Vp using the stock 15% TurboGear OC (32M - 17s):

 

It's not my doin.. It's the birthday boys! I'd like to see a 3mark06 run with that OC.

Also, since the GPUs seem unaffected by this version, we now may be able to use an OC utility on them and get positive results. This may be the key to the unlocking

Just rolled out of the sack a half hour ago and the Qx is out for delivery but i had it delivered to my friends place as he handled all the paypal shtuff . So hopefully by then end of the day ill have some results, also be on the lookout for mushroom clouds coming from the michigan area

 

I did a run on 3d06 if you scrolled back abit you must have overlooked it .

 

what about vantage?

 

read my 3d06 post above where i said Vantage was actually coming out 200 points slower and this was at 3619 mhz and 3511 . it scored 10600 to the T every time no matter what, which was very very weird . I OCed the GPU and still the same . so then i just ran it back to 3284 mhz and was above 10800 again . Not sure whats happening on that end yet. I know the OC is working because of the 06 and Wprime numbers so there is no doubt its doing its job but im just not sure on Vantage yet. Im glad i figured out the OC trick and im hoping/praying i can do the same with the Qx. I could honestly takin the CPU probably and im not kidding to 3.7 or 3.8 ghz i just decided to stop but setfsb was letting me do what ever i wanted lol .

Hey all, I recently ordered a W90 and am wondering what cooler you guys use for it? Was thinking about the Cryo LX.

 

my cooling mod:
1: cryo lx cooler
2: 3 ferret rhinos. one for each gpu and one for the cpu
3: 4" fan for power supply

total cost..about 130.00 bucks

seems to work pretty well and the best part...no drilling or modding ones fancy new case. nor any heat sink add on mods.

Well, I dropped it off at Kinko's on lunch to be shipped out. I'm kind of having withdrawal symptoms now. LOL Someone hold me. I'd get a 4870x2 for my desktop to fill the void, but it won't fit in my case. Hell a 4870 won't fit, so I guess I'm stuck with my 4850...

Ha, I wish! I use HTPC cases, but I thought about building a separate gaming machine and using a regular case. The next case I'm thinking about getting is a far cry from $50~$100 at $600! :O
