Just found out some new shipments came with wrong power cord, they put the French Cord:
-
Ouch Ken, that's no fun >.<
Newegg now has the X2 which just seems to be the X1 with the quad instead of the dual core. Only 50$ more and its instock, im really debating pulling the trigger but i just don't know if the quad is going to be satisfactory for me, I dont do any video rendering or anything thats going to use 4 cores at present. So unless there's a wackload of games that are going to start supporting quads I think ill just wait it out. Worst part is i know they have them, there just not selling them -
So I'm going with Xotic I guess, I never wasted so much effort on trying to get a laptop. This is crazy. So except p9262, what else is out there that matches the performance?

-
It doesn't make sense to get X2 for me, first its stilled taxed for Cali, which brings the price tag back to $2450, but no second HD, or BD. For the same price I can get A1 with all of the above.
-
Hey Quad, what is your vantage score when running on a single GPU? And congrats on the QX
-
Thanks on the Qx
and i havent done a single vantage run yet but i will try to get around to it later. Right now im focused on getting past 3.1ghz cause thats about where the machine tells me no more
funny thing is my Dual core recieved more volts then this Quadcore does, so cleary
they have it undervolted thinking no one has one in there machine yet. Theres another bios on Asus website that im tempted to try because it specifys Q9300 support but its for there nvidia model so im a bit leary . -
Newegg has the W90vp-X2 now for $2249.99 ($50 off) and currently in stock. Looks like the only difference is the quad core.

Quad, what program you using to monitor voltage? CPU-z? Try Everest, and see if it reports any different. Also, you should first try flashing the bios with the same bios it currently has, via an autoexec.bat file that requires no user input.. That way if the new bios has issues and you need to blindflash you're prepared
-
Ya i was thinking about that but id need to figure out a way to make one up , Sooo just another thing i need to work on
. Picked up about 6 fps(at stock CPU speed) more in GTA 4 though so that was worth the $600 and change i just spent LOL
. Edit i had everest already installed and the volt readings are the same its 1.163 to 1.250 which aint enough.

What is this OC trick?
Think it may help me take the Q9000 even higher than 2.75? -
this is the bios i want to try. I just dont want to brick my machine in the process.
BIOS 503
Include Q9300,P8700,T9550,Q9000,T9800 Overclock Table for Turbo Gear Function
File Size 693.79 (KBytes) 2009/03/20 update -
Hmmm... the voltage for that quad does seem a tad on the low side.
My T9600 @ stock 2.8Ghz is being fed 1.263V according to CPU-Z. -
Quad; $50 says it flashes perfectly..no issues.

There's also an 0510 bios for the W90V available.
Same 3/13 date. -
-
You'll likely get the same with the 0503 then.
Though I suppose there's only one way to really know...
FYI, just grabbed the 0503 bios off the FTP site and it's dated 2/25.
BTW, what does the TurboGear VGA driver actually do?
I uninstalled it and can't say I notice any real difference. -
-
wait, there's TurboGear for the graphics cards?
-
ichime; you can download it from support and try it with the OCZ
I figure higher numbers mean newer versions.. 510 would make me assume it's the newest. Are there any release documents, or anything else included with the BIOS?
just downloaded.. nevermind - but it appears all are meant for the same setup. The file sizes are accurate down to the byte. *shrugs* trial and error will prevail -
-
Ya i would think the 510 would havee meant higher/better but wasnt the case when i had tried to install it because it just wouldnt let me lol.
Someones going to try the 503 for me so hopefully ill know something later. -
Nothing, just the BIOS.ROM file on it's own. -
Considering my copy of 0503 is dated older than the current 0502... I'm not thinking its actually a newer bios. -
-
Well, I now have tracking numbers and this thing should be on my doorstep tomorrow lunchtime or so. For those looking I want to say that Gentech took pretty good care of me. I had been having reservations as it was sounding like my order had fallen through the cracks. It had. Ken however got one on a truck today and is paying the overnight on his dime to get it to me in the time frame promised. Being old I understand things go wrong, I dont hold that against anybody. In my mind its when you really learn who you want to do business with and who you dont. I'll be using Gentech again. Thanks Ken.

A heads up for everybody, this may be a result of flashing both cards as masters, but I just now discovered that my machine has had two monitors setup this whole time. I wondered why I was able to scroll off screen on the upper left side of my screen only, this is also why Windows 7 did not want to install properly for me.
I just disabled this 2nd monitor and all is well, I noticed it on my wacom tablet that I just installed as it maps 1:1 with your screens and it was going all the way to the left of my screen when I was only about 3/4 over on the tablet.

Speaking of 2nd monitor..
Anyone tried the HDMI out yet?
One of these day's I'll have to hook it up to on of my TV's -

John getting back with you about Wacom in Excel, it works and from my reading it works with anything inside the Office 2007 program group.
Its under the review tab and an icon called "start inking" and from there it has a few options for what you want. My handwriting sucks and this is a small 4x5 graphire 4 tablet but it still works.

good looking out on the info vicious!
i see ya got your new qx9300 today quad, nice! -
Thanks man, im digging it so far, but ya it needs more volts before i can truly do much with it atleast thats the conclusion i have come to thus far. the temps are amazing though which is always a good thing(max is like 54 after a 3d06 run). Its running happily at 3084 mhz it seems, which is fine for the moment . not much has changed interms of Vantage scores yet . 3d06 is basically what ken got 17ks . im just testing all kinds of things for stability etc. Picked up a total of 10fps more in GTA4 at the same settings i had on the dual when i have the Q at 3084 so thats also a good thing . Ill just keep pluggin away so to speak
.

I can only help alittle since i am also new to the quad core extreme. post your cpu-z, sisoft
SANDRA, everest, of it @ stock and at 3.084. i have soo much more voltage then that on mines.
they all show something differrent for me. -
A QX always makes a great present. Not sure if I did already, so Congrats on the Quad, Quad!

New score:
Can't go any higher and I am start to think 230W adapter is not sufficient for QX9300 to go any higher, might be pulling too much power. -
If the power supply were even getting hot i might consider that option but mine stays just warm and not even hot so i doubt its a lack of power at all , thats after a couple hours on and off of playing games, benching etc. We just need more volts
.Alot of these Power supplys are underrated.
-
Quad what does 320/500 stands for ?
-
well, we do have an option of getting a higher rated one. gangstaone already has one. and they do have them out here in california. i was seriously thinking of getting one.
-
I ordered an -X2 from Newegg today...plus an OCZ 120Gb Vertex. I'll have to bone up on the guides.
-
a very nice drive.. i have one myself.
