dont they just deliver it the next day if u missed it and the attempted delivery notification is on the door.....
also sign that notification on the back and leave it on your door just in case they come back so they can leave it there, unless you're in a shady spot and think it would get stolen.

Anyone else notice the right fan seems to be working harder/pushing out hotter air than the left fan during a gaming session?

I decided to cancel my G73JH to go for the new Sager with 18.4" screen, i7 and dual gtx 285m's. Was a tough decision as I really love the G73JH, but in the end I wanted the most power and didn't care about price. In 1-2 years, I will sell it and buy a new Dx11 machine as more games come out.

    Good luck, all!

    Looks like a nice machine.

Where did you get it from?

    Thanks!

Been gaming with my X2 over the past couple hours. Here were my observations with no OC on the GPU:

ME2 - Runs highest settings, highest res no problem.

Stalker: Clear Sky - Runs highest settings with no AA at 1920x1080 with a bit of hitching, but playable; very smooth if you push down the view distance a bout 1/4. Plays much better than on my w90, obviously there was a memory limitation there.

Fear 2 - Highest settings with 4xaa at 1920x1080 with very few noticable FPS drops. 2xaa is silky smooth.

Batman Arkum Asylum - Highest settings at 1920x1080 smooth (of course, no physx here)

I'm more and more impressed with this machine despite the keyboard lags (which I think may be related to the multi-touch touchpad). It's light, runs cool, looks incredible and offers great gaming performance. All around a great package.

It's not a desktop replacement, but is a perfect option for someone who games and actually needs a functional, mobile laptop that doesn't look like a piece of candy.

Anyone know if I have to mail in this warranty card to activate my warranty or is there an online warranty registration? I thought I read someone that even if I register online I have to mail something in correct?

I'm really liking this machine so far. I would have liked a smaller laptop but price/performance ratio for this was just too good to pass up. Working on getting some games installed now.

If you want to get in on the 1yr. accidental damage warranty you need to mail it in along with your email confirmation. I have mine all set to go out with the mail tomorrow.

Been running on battery, just surfing, paying bills and the like for over an hour on the Power4Gear battery saving mode. Still have over 42 minutes left according to the battery meter. Not bad- impressed since running it on a higher setting just EATS the battery alive. It's nice to have this kind of flexibility when you're sitting in an airport or wherever and just want to do some simple tasks.

Question to the other owners, what settings do you use for Catalyst?

High quality, quality, performance, high performance texture?
    None, standard or advanced AI?
    Multi-sample, adaptive or super-sample anti-aliasing?

I'm using quality, standard and adaptive. Not sure which is best for performance for AA and AI specifically.

Yeah at $3,500 I hope this beast is the best laptop you can get. Enjoy it in good health, looks awesome! That thing is truly a slick machine.

For $3500, I would have gotten the G-73, and a $2000 desktop that pretty much won't be needing an upgrade for the next 100 years.

Not bad...I've been playing GTA4 for about an hour tonight and my temps are pretty similar to that. I have a max on the second sensor of 97c though. Same clockings. I'm still a bit concerned with that specific max temp reaching above 90...but since most of you have claimed thats the GPU RAM temp, which can be a lot hotter...I'm a little more reassured...I think...

The only thing I can say about this is that the air coming out of that right vent does not allude to 97c temperatures on the 5870. My g51 used to spew cheese melting heat out of it's exhaust for the gtx260m. The air coming out of the Gpu vent on the G73 is just warm. I think the 1st temp is the true core temp.

If it's just shaders then it will only have like a 10w tsp and on top of that if it's getting hot since the heatsink is not touching it correctly then it won't push any heAt out the back

A quick trip to Newegg, Blu-Ray typed into the search bar gives me only one choice. It's a Sony Blu-ray burner for $220. free gift with it is one rewritable BR disc. May be the same one that Aramis bought. That's a nice price. $130 cheaper than mine.

Man . Anyone here install Dragon Age on their G73? When I try to start the game or go into config the whole system locks up and screen freezes. I had to force it off twice. I did update Direct X before I tried that game so that might be it but damn. Shouldn't have that kind of problem because of updating direct x.

I ordered from them...They never gave me a date for shipping, or even an ETA and I didn't find out it was going to be backordered until I actually ordered it, but their reseller rating is excellent, and though they are slow on the emails, they do return them eventually.

Model # on Newegg is BD-5730S-01 while mine is just BD-5730S. I'm assuming they're the same- maybe that one is specifically labelled as OEM? At the time I bought mine I went with Amazon since I'm a Prime member- it came out a bit cheaper and faster.

+1, That guy must be kidding about it just being a gamer laptop. What good is it for a gamer if the keyboard doesn't work??? So you're playing a fast pace game and you press a key and it didn't work, it's ok becuase it's for gaming? Some people on thie forum makes no sense in making excuses for Asus. Everyone with any common sense wants a working laptop, with everything working like it's supposed to.

I'ts either a design flaw, poorly made laptop, something happened to it durring shipping and messed it up, or it's a software issue. There's no excuse for the keyboard not to work like it's supposed to.

I have a question about the key spacing.

Are you guys able to say, push W and E, or W and S with one finger, or are they too far apart?

My G73JH-X1 is DEAD. I can't believe this. I played Crysis for quite a while last night. My temps were around 82C. The laptop was running perfectly. This morning the screen is completely blank. The laptop boots right up with no display. A monitor plugged into the VGA port does nothing. I got a paperclip and pushed the reset button in the bottom of the laptop. I still don't have anything on the LCD or external monitor.

I called NewEgg. They will RMA it back for "testing" which takes up to two weeks. After that, they'll issue a replacement. Looks like the A1 preorder people may get their laptops before I get mine back. I'm very disappointed with both Asus and NewEgg right now.

There is nothing wrong with the keyboard. Majority of us have no issues. There are a few who still are adjusting to a chiclet keyboard.

As to what that other dude said, yes there are some keyboards better for typing than others. Some keyboards are far more comfortable use than others. If you can't comprehend this, then sorry, can't help you.

But then some people are just natural whiners/complainers. They will find anything to complain about when it's not the keyboard, or Asus, but themselves at fault. Learn to type or don't get a laptop with a chiclet keyboard.

I just want to make sure we are clear.I never said that there was a issue with this keyboard.I just pointing out that its stupid to say "well the keyboard does not matter because this is a gaming laptop not a buisness laptop" If you can't comprehend this, then sorry, can't help you.
But then some people are just natural whiners that want to justify there purchase and make it seem like nothing is wrong

    UPDATE - G73JH A2 RMA

My laptop was received on Friday by ASUS and determined to be D.O.A. I was issued a new unit. However, ASUS Fremont, CA does not have any G73JH A2 in stock to send me one.

I am to call back in the morning to see if stock has arrived. If not I hope to have my old unit fixed and sent out.

I also made sure that if I do receive a new unit that it will be fully tested before sent and the stock ram will be 1333.

I am a little disappointed that it seems ASUS Customer Service did not hold any stock for RMA / D.O.A. purposes.

    Wish me luck !!!

My wife and I watched the first 3 or 4 seasons of lost on our honeymoon. We now make sure that Tuesday night is out "Date Night". We watch Lost and Paranormal State, back to back. Then I tell her I have a bunch of work to do on the computer, and I come here and chat with you all

the first 4 seasons of Lost are very interesting. By season 5, I was starting to get a little irritated that they kept changing the story line. Finally, just knowing that this is the last season has me excited again because I should be able to get some closure for all the questions I still have. You will become addicted, man.

    Infrared:
Damn, that's bad news for me too. My A2 was delivered this morning to ASUS HQ at 9:36am. I guess mine won't be replaced today either. That's really upsetting. Thanks for your update.

I have a call in to Asus tech support. I'm awaiting a return call from a "senior" technician. I guess if pressing the buttons and reset five more times doesn't fix it, they'll have me send it back. I already have an RMA# and shipping label from NewEgg, but I'm going to wait to see what Asus says. I'm thinking the RMA turnaround at Asus may be a lot quicker. The way NewEgg talks, it could be three weeks before I get it back.
