Sort of curious if anyone that Pre-Ordered the A1 back in the beginning of January is still in... If it is pushed back again after the beginning of March, I might crack and do what Striker did and opt for something else...

Why are there 3 controllers for sound in the taskbar? I only want one.

I've been playing with it all weekend and am loving it. Got XP mode working, transferred e-mail using the transfer app (that was cool as). Had a little concern over what of the bloatware I needed, ended up only uninstalling a couple. The TZ model didn't come with recovery disks, so doing a fresh install was out of the question. There's a hidden partition on the disk, but I don't know how to access it.

I'll have to check out the G73 Screensaver tonight. Everything seems to be fairly smooth atm. Torhchlight boots up in 5 secs now instead of 20 :p.

Back in the early-mid vista days, there was a program called "Automated backup restore" that would backup your activation. You'd run it on your activated windows Vista, reinstall, and then NOT put in a registration key when the new insall asked. When you got to desktop, you'd execute ABR, and it'd retore the activation without needing to connect to windows whatsoever. Perfect for reinstalling a clean copy of your legally obtained copy of Windows. [CYA moment, sorry ;) ]

It didn't work with XP, but since 7 is essentially Vista [and I don't need a lecture if anyone feels otherwise, just let it pass] It SHOULD work for 7 as well.

You need to wake up and smell the roses. DPI is not correlated in anyway with gaming skill nor is it a measure for a "good" mouse. Its all marketing. You have been enlightened. :D

I'm sorry to insist but can anyone confirm the G73 supports hardware virtualization?
I believe it's quite improvable that it doesn't but I need to be sure as it would be a deal breaker for me.
Windows 7' XP mode requires it. So this post is almost a confirmation in my opinion that it is supported:

    Thanks!

Am I missing the setting to have the backlight for the keyboard on at bootup so I can enter my password for 7?

Fn + F4 increases the back light
I'm not sure whether your light settings are saved before you login to your account.

But I thought those settings were in the bios, so they are saved whether you are logged in or not.

Either way, if the light settings are saved per profile, its not a big deal to press Fn + F4 if you must have back light for the keyboard....

i pre-ordered on 1/19 from Xoticpc but haven't got my machine yet. My current laptop has got some issues and i need this to come ever so urgently. I wrote Xoticpc and all i got is that it will arrive at March. Not good enough. I just want to know if there are someone out there pre-ordered at approximately the same time as i did and are still waiting, and from those who has already recieved their machines, when did you pre-order yours and when did they come so that i can get a clear idea of how long i have to wait rather than just knowing i will get it eventually. thank you very much!

im browsing this thread on my phone and it's really painful to follow every post in here, so i just jumped to the last page and posted my questions. If this is a deviation from the theme or a similiar question was asked and properly answered somewhere in the thread, then i am very sorry. But please understand that this is really important to me though i doubt there is much that can be done.

The G73 froze three hours ago, and I just got home, and there's a buzz noise coming from the right side. I check event viewer and it said system shut down was unexpected at 10:17pm CST. Who was it that had the freeze and buzz noise?

I had that problem as well. I took out the ram - one stick at a time to see if it might be a defective stick of ram... but that all checked out. What I did find, was that I had to reset the bios to default, and not under any circumstances use turbo mode. For some reason, with turbo mode on, it crashes my system and I end up having to go back into the bios again to reboot. My computer is running ok at the moment. I got a really good 3DMark Vantage score, and I've been able to play BC2 for an hour at a time with no faults. I still don't know if it's a hardware or software issue. I also got my first gray screen this morning with everything set to stock numbers... so I'm not quite out of the woods yet..

It is supported. Windows XP Mode does require it. XP Mode runs very fast on this machine. I did not install Window 2008 Server and try any hypervisors, but it does have virtualization support.

Well, my RMA has changed status to "Approved" now. Shipped out to NewEgg on 2/16. Recieved at their warehouse in California on 2/19. Marked as approved today. I am hoping the replacement ships out today too.

Wow, I am getting shafted every which way from UPS and Newegg...

Shipped on the same day as you Jody. Was supposed to arrive on 2/19/10. It arrived @ Newegg this morning. Newegg hasn't updated RMA status yet.

Their inventory will most likely run out today or tomorrow. They better send me a replacement ASAP...

    To h-e-double-L with newegg.

I am done with them. Over the years I have spent prob close to $15k building computers, but no more.

There are other places now that offer same or lower prices and better service.

Per request by a youtube user I have ran some tests with Cinebench 11.5 and while it still mainly applies to multithreaded full loads, I have some interesting results when it comes to the Asus TT and Heat. I will be trying to get the video uploaded tonight in the benchmark thread.

Congratz and have fun. It's been really stable for me with no issues at all. Did you get the 1066 or the 1333? Just curious if Asus got restock on the 1066 and shipping with them as advertised now.

I think anyone that purchased the first "batch" is pretty much guaranteed 1333 ram. There are a few here and there got 1066, but most got 1333. We'll have to see if the March shipments change that trend.

I could care less what speed ram I get as long it as all recognized by the BIOS and OS and is stable.

I am glad I sent it to newegg and not Asus. Asus has no parts or systems to send out so the wait will be insane.

At least I'm going to get my money back. Only 13 left on newegg so I am pretty much guaranteed they will run out.

Sleey0! Don't jinx me man! I need a replacement. I must have one. I don't want my money back. I want a G73JH-X1... right now... darn it. :(

I guess I would just let mine ride until more stock came in. The X1s seem to be flowing in pretty regularly and mine was $1429. I would hate to pay the "new" price they have now.

I'm in the same boat. I doubt I'll get a replacement. I'm not interested in a refund either. This is disappointing. Newegg could have done us right but they aren't helping. They're more than happy to sell the remaining stock to other customers.

    Not sure what you mean.

I sent my RMA via UPS Ground as they paid for it (should have just sent it overnight and paid for it).

Took all week to get to newegg finally on Friday. Just got "Approved" today but they state that a new sales order could take 1-2 business days.

So, with only 10 left, there will be none tomorrow (ie refund time ;))

Whoop whoop!!! They are shipping my my new unit! I'm doing the snoopy dance right now!

Requested RMA 2/16 about 10:00 AM.
Recieved shipping label via email and shipped out from Texas to California 2/16 @4:30 PM CST.
Received in Cali @ 8:30 PST on 2/19 & marked "RMA Received"
Marked "Approved" at 11:22 AM on 2/22
Replacement Order placed UPS Next Day Saver at 4:02 PM on 2/22

My new "order" isn't completely processed yet. I guess I'll get it Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm really hoping that first unit was just an anomaly. :(

I just cannot understand why yours and Sleey0's haven't been processed already. My guess (which is completely silly, I know) is that mine was extremely simple to verify. You push the button to fire up the laptop and the screen won't come on at all. They may be fiddling with yours thinking they can get it to see all the RAM somehow. If they have multiple levels of testers, the level 1 support would have kicked mine out right away since it's pretty obvious that it won't work at all.

My experience with RMA's would lead me to agree with you - I always have many more issues if its something that cavemen can't see as a problem at first glance.

Glad to hear that your new one is on the way!

Well I didn't want to put it exactly like that in case there were some NewEgg product testers who hang out in here. They might decide my laptop needs to stay in processing status for a month. :(
