LOL - I meant in general, not just Newegg - but yes, best not to jinx things in any way at this point!

Just wanted to let everyone know I'm loving my new G73. My ONLY complaint is the really stiff trackpad butons.

You shouldn't worry too much Jody. From my experience dealing with Techs, I find that they want NOTHING to do with their job when they are off the clock. They're just in for the girls. ;)

Ziddy, mine should have came with 1333 as that is what was on the order... when I get off work and download GPU-Z, I will confirm 100% with you al, but so far awesome machine with everything I could ask for and so far absolutely no issues. Did fresh install and deleted partitions and stuff... I dont usually deal with the restore partition and stuff as I have a 1.5tb external I save 99% of my data too so no worries if I need to reformat in the future.

I have the same problem. The trackpad buttons are nearly unusable because of the stiffness.

I use a mouse 99% of the time though.

Well, it looks like I won't be an owner anymore. With my RMA still in process and only 1 X1 left, I'll be forced to get a refund instead of a replacement. My experience with Newegg has left such a bad taste in my mouth. It'll take a while for me to forget this episode and buy from them again. But the sad part is, I know I'll go back. It's like being in a abusive relationship that you can't walk away from.

I think I'll just have to wait and see what comes around next. Maybe I'll just wait to see if they offer a Xfire edition of the G73. Time will tell. But until then, enjoy your laptops everyone.

It's in my sig, but to be more clear, my computer was only recognizing 4GB of RAM instead of 8GB. There's no reason to really go further than that. I didn't even want to waste a post on this.

Asus said they are staying out of the high-end laptop race. So it is HIGHLY unlikely you'll see any XF laptops from them.

Yeah, newegg used to be good, but no more. There are plenty of other places to get computer parts from besides newegg so I'm not worried and I won't be going back to them.

Interest tidbit: I just bought one from newegg like 5 minutes ago to see if it would show that the item has sold out, but it didn't. Now, it says that there is a limit of 1 per cart. So no more adding 99 to see how many they have left.
I did cancel the order while it was being processed because I just wanted to test it out.

Makes me wonder if they have more than they are leading on....

So, there is still a chance we will get one shipped tomorrow.

Well, you and I both know what to expect. But I wish the best of luck to you Sleey0. I am through trying to talk with the unhelpful but polite CSR's.

Last thing they always say on the phone is "was I able to resolve all your issues and answer your questions?" And I always said "Nope, but you're just doing your job." and hang up. It's sad to know they don't get paid enough to deal with customers like me...lol

Oh I know. I was just merely pointing out that we'll have another reseller to go through when they become available as opposed to going through Newegg.

After reading their returns policy, it doesn't seem as strict as Neweggs. But there are some restrictions regardless.

I bought my wife's Sony Z from amazon and sure enough one of the speakers didn't work.

I had to mildly fight with them to send me a new unit. Basically the same procedure as newegg - send it in and they send a new one.

So I dunno. Not much better but the same.

That seems like a perfectly reasonable expectation to me. I sure can't argue with you there.

The whole RMA thing is a pain. I guess that's just a negative of buying from the internet. If I was able to buy it at a retail store somewhere, I could've packed it back in there all indignant and walked out with a new unit.

I guess NewEgg probably handled the return exactly the way most places would... in my case anyway. I bet dealing with GenTech or Xotic is a lot better, but they didn't have any stock. I bet they are a lot more flexible on returns.

Yep, I pretty much knew I was SOL. Just was hoping that Newegg would try to help. Now I'm going to ask (edit: DEMAND) for my money back :). I hope no one else that tries to get the G73 from Newegg has to go through what I'm going through :(

Yes. That means we are good to go and stock has been allocated to us.

I fully suspect for the order to ship tomorrow with Fedex banging on my door Wed :D

And iclicku, I am sorry. I really hope you can get your cash back quickly so you can either find a different system or pre-order it from a REAL reseller :)

For those of you who did a clean install of Windows 7, I have some newbie questions, sorry they are really basic but I couldn't find a clear answer in thread:

    1. Did you have to burn the Recovery CD? I only see three CD's that my computer came with and none of them say Windows 7 Operating System. The only one that I think might be the right one is: Windows 7 Recovery Media for Windows 7 Products. Is this the Recovery CD you used to do a clean install?

    2. Even when I put the CD in and restart, and push Esc, it only gives me 2 options to boot from, and none of them are CD/DVD. Do you know how I would boot from the CD? Do I need to make UEFI enabled in Bios?

    3. Can I safely delete the Recovery partition since I have all the software on disk?

    Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to thank everybody for the great info on this awesome laptop.

I'm in Canada and looking to order one when they come in stock.

Wonder if there will be a big performance difference from the models that come with 1066 VS 1333 ram.. Seems i can not find any dealers in the GTA that will sell this with 1333 mhz ram.

Thanks again for the great site and I will post my thoughts when I get it :)

    Planned used:
Coding, video editing, gaming.. :) CAN'T WAIT!

This hp is being returned :) and I'll wait for the ASUS

No. there's no real-world performance difference between 1066 and 1333 RAM. Don't worry about it ;)
I've been doing alot of stuff in my G73, great laptop.

I imagine most will have the 1333 anyways...

Somehow I think the shortage might have been the 1066 RAM and it might be 1 reason for the delay on the A1s...but that is just a wild guess.

Seems a lot of people are having issues with the 1333 anyways.

Figured I'd go ahead and join your happy/sad little Owners Lounge :) Just picked up my G73 today at a local shop for $1500!It is a model I have yet to see listed anywhere yet...an X2.Includes everything that the X1 has but also comes with the Blu Ray Reader!Absolutely loving it so far.A little sad though that my M11X is coming tomorrow and will be overshadowed by this new guy.Had no intention of buying one anytime soon but when I walked in and saw it,I fell in love

Thanks for the quick replies :)

I emailed Asus customer service and this was thier reply. This was about an hour after I posted here last night. That's a fast reply for just an enquiry :)

Intel HM55 chipsets on the motherboard of G73JH use QPI (Intel QuickPath Interconnect) instead of FSB (Front Side Bus) .
Please refer to the following page to get the details of QPI:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_QuickPath_Interconnect

    And the ram is 1066MHz.

Please see your reseller for shipment dates.

Mind answering a couple questions about this model?

    What's the warranty?
    What's the RAM config i.e. 2x4GB or 4x2GB?

The Cambridge, MA store doesn't have it in stock for me to check it out...

Their slim models would be the UL series, I think. Unless you're talking gaming PCs.

LOL, guys. It's NOT in stock at the moment. The only store in the chain that has it is in Ohio, where Tanooki purchased it. Plus I want to make sure everything @ Oldegg works out. I want to get that drama over with before thinking about where to get the next one. I'm actually good buddies with the people that work @ Microcenter. So if I need one, they'll special order one for me pronto.

You guys are such enablers and it's BAD! lol

Can you get a deal on the Razer Imperator? I want to get that mouse but the current price tag is a bit steep for me. Hehe, work that connection iclicku!

I'd get the deal on the G500 for $40 but I don't like two things they did. They added side scrolling to it and I do use the scroll button click in games. And the thumb buttons have 3 now all squished together, and you can press the wrong one by mistake. What a crappy updated design, more is not better Logitech!

Unfortunately, that's from MC web store. While I love their B&M stores, they still have LONG way to go in terms of their online sales.

As for ziddy, they don't currently sell the Imperator and my connection with MC usually only allows me access to special orders on laptops and desktops that are available through their business sales dept. They give usually give me the employee discount plus a little more if I ask. My mouse of choise is the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 1.1

BTW, Microcenter's Employee Discount is usually Store Cost + 5%.

My advice now is to look elsewhere for a laptop. The G73 issues are too much to risk, IMO.
