and yes...only if you do this by yourself, would you void warranty. BTW dont go for the 820QM, its +600USD for minimal gain. i suggest the W860CU if you want the 820QM, it better GFX card and +200USD for 820QM.

Even for $200 the 5-10% gain is questionable. I'm thinking for the money, there may be better areas to upgrade for performance gain (SSD for example).

I'm toying with the idea of the G51J with the 720, then going for the 80GB SSD and 320GB secondary HDD rather than getting the Sager. Every time I think about which one to get my mind comes up with more pro's and con's to each system, lol.

 

Yeah I agree the new lid is rather akward I mean it it's not as bad as the crazy yellow lightning bolts of the BB G50 but I just dislike it for some reason. Is it possible to buy a replacement lid of a different style?

Really nice lid on the G72's. Simple, stylish, not overdone at all. Wonder when they're getting the i7 treatment...

 

OMGZ new G72 looks sweet. kinda reminds me of the studio XPS16, cept instead of leather it is aluminum finish. i like that blue line light down the middle. the insied is NAICE but horrible at the same time. glossy wrist rest = fail to me. i would go crazy trying to keep taht thing smudge free lol. tbh the wrist rest look way to big, i think they couldve enlarged the KB a lil

ALSO, off topic but im getting kinda pissed off about this. my glossy screen always has those small dots, on it, which u need to use ur nail to scratch off. i couldve even google it since i didnt know what they were called. if you know what i mean, plz help me. i want to know an easier way of cleaning those scratchable dots, its getting annoying seeing them on screen.

no not dead pixels. i really need a good camera, but i'll try. you know, how when u turn off ur screen, u see all the dust? well besides the dust, there are also these bubble-type things. u cant wipe em off with a micro-fiber cloth, u need to scratch em off.

btw cant do it today, i spend 10mins scratching em all off. next time i get a lot of em on my screen i'll take a group shot.

 

did you sneeze in front of your screen? if so, you can call those snot bubbles.

 

no...haha. goddam see what i mean by hard to explain? have u ever noticed these bubble-like things on a screen? or evne on the notebook itself. they are small dots, and u cant take em off by rubbing, they need to be scratched off.

P.S. XP SP3 > Vista by far. I hardly even use my Win 7 partition because XP SP3 does everything I need for now. The downside is I don't get 4 GB of available ram but who cares, its not like I do heavy server operations anyway.

It is saliva most likely. Just try a lighty damp piece of paper towel or something else lint free.

You need to wait for the server forum privilages to refresh after a day so that you can edit your user title in your user options. And welcome to the senior users.

It's most likely from leaning in to talk. The built in mic isn't that great anyway so I'd suggest getting a headset with a mic. Oh and I apologize to the mods for the crude jokes. Oh yeah sach, i got your message on steam but I was having dinner and you went offline by the time I got back.

 

yep, looks like i will need to buy one. i would like the PC350, but its kinda expensive @ 150bucks and idk how my parents will understand me buying 1 MORE head"phone". they dont realize all the difference between em, i have 2 headphones, and 3 sets of earphones lol. maybe the gamecom367 is a better chocie @ ~30bucks.

ok yea im srs bout buying a new headset, dont really want a new thread but a quick vote, gamecom 777 (is it open-ear?) for 53USD, 367 for 29bucks, razer carcharias for 70bucks or the steelseries 5h v2 for 75bucks? im leaning towards the 777 with its dolby 5.1 thing for + 24usd vs the 367.

 

I use a cheap $25 padded one from worstbuy. Its comfortable and works fine. No fancy built in 7.1 sound or whatever but who cares.

 

lol well i have a cheap one like that, i want some x-fi kind of effects. all my friends say its awesome. the 777 look really appealing to me. i dont really see what so special with the razer and steelseries, i mean the brands, but what is so special? any audio differences that i will see between them and the gamecom 377/777?

Batman Arkham Asylum at stock hardware and high 1080p runs nice. 30+ FPS at all times nice.

Crysis, even with 581/1512/886 runs surprisinly choppy at though. Hmm. Maybe with the right drivers there'll be better performance.

 

and im guessing the B:AA is solely cuz of the i7-920QM? that thing runs @ 24FPS on the demo @ same settings for me.

that is horrible crysis perf. i get better perf. that that @ 585/940/1475 @ 1080p wiht all high -_-

 

It was stock driver 186.69, yes Crysis not running as smooth as I expected.

gentech, can you download the driver from the nvidia webstie and see how the benchies are? What are the downlcked gpu specs compared to the stock clocks that nvidia sets for the 260ms?

I'm having laptop jitters....and thinking of going with a desktop instead, but I can't seem to find a decent gaming desktop for under $1000

 

id stick with a lappy m8 or build your own desktop. Just ask yourself if you need portability or not.

 

portability is always better, but I currently have a working old laptop. only think is I don't know how long this will survive. I was trying to see if I could build a complete system for about $1000 (including monitor) with an I7 processor. It's not looking too good for the desktop.

you could get a i5 750 a GTS 250 a 640gb wd drive ect

which means more g51j's for us!!

 

looks like I'm sticking with the g51j. The cheapest desktop I7 build I found would still cost around $1500 with monitor, on a i7 920 and gtx 260. I was hoping to spend around $1000, total, hoping to save around $700.
Besides, I can smell the plastic on my dell as it heats up. not sure how long this dell will last.

Maybe it has something to do with Crysis being a pre-release demo? Isn't there an updated one or maybe full version (with the patches) you could test instead?

 

Or maybe I overclocked too high and it was downclocked by itself, seen it several times on Vantage.
