Just an update that I've finally recieved and installed my new half-size PCIE ssd (128gb) into the slot. Works perfectly fine and is in fact has much higher transfer speeds than the SSD I got the laptop with. Took a while cause I was waiting for the Torx T6 screws to arrive (no knives or anything cause I didnt want to damage the laptop in any way)
Here is the SSD for anyone else who is interested. I did not get any screws to secure it but it locks in at a certain position into the mini PCIE jack.

Are you sure that the ICC profiles are still on here? When I search the only hit that comes back is your previous comment.

i just receive my ux303ln back from asus, they updated my firmware with an unofficial one, or maybe developing one, it turns out yellow got a little bit better, but other color are now super vivid, in a stage that i think is pretty horrible, any solution?
-
ux303ln - broadwell version
It will always crash the first time I boot it up and it can't resume from standby. I seems to get this issue after upgrading to an 850 evo ssd
Am I the only one with this issue? The audio jack is acting kind of crazy, kept thinking earphone is plugged then this issue mysteriously disappearLast edited: Apr 24, 2015 -

When you upgraded the ssd what did you do a fresh install too? Have you checked there is nothing in the audio jack?
-
yeah, fresh install with 8.1 nope nothing is plugged into audio jack
-
Don't upgrade if you don't know **** about your computer.
Look in the direction of drivers -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Woah, calm down there, we all start somewhere. Now on a fresh install you need to get all the right drivers to get sleep/resume working properly. What list of drivers did you download? Did you get the latest intel chipset drivers? -
All drivers are on Asus website. If you want more up to date you can get to hardware vendor website.
If I had this I would mostly look in BIOS settings and make sure I had the Intel drivers. (Chipset and the graphic driver are most important)
Make sure your disk is not used by other operating systems in hibernate or sleep.
Ps: Don't use Intel connect. -
So can you please, please, please make one for the i5-4210u 840m version. Please again -
I will make one in the coming days for you.

Hi Guys, do anyone know that there is any update solution about the "yellow display" problem ?
I am user from Hong Kong too. Asus Hong Kong have change my screen and do not have any improvement.Last edited: Apr 26, 2015 -
Thanks for posting the files there. I ran the exe as admin and again got the successful install message. Turned my laptop off and left like that for 2 minutes. Turned it on and nothing had changed. Also changed the ICC profile and nothing changed. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I wouldn't be shocked if its user error. If you have any advice please let me know, otherwise Ill wait the 10 years for ASUS to send out a fix lol

I bought my laptop in September 2014 (ux303ln-db71t), and I recently noticed that the screen hinge was getting looser. There's a little bit of a play (like an angle of 5 degrees), that seems to get wider and wider. Anybody knows if there are some screws that can tighten the hinge ? Thanks
-
Nope. Only thing you can do is making sure that when you open it you put your fingers behind the middle of the screen and not the sides. This prevent pressure on hinge.
-
Thanks for the quick reply ! I usually always open the laptop from the middle of the screen, and didn't use the laptop extensively. I also try to take good care of it, and no drops or anything occurred. Since it's not happening to anybody else, should I suspect a faulty unit? Now that I'm playing with it, I'm noticing a weird clicking sound coming from the right hinge...
-
Well it is a common problem. Someone in this topic said that some ASUS support told him to only open the screen from the middle and that this would prevent it from breaking.
More info I can unfortunately not give. -
Thank you for your reply, after reviewing previous posts and other sources, I can confirm that I have a faulty hinge. I hope the support center won't keep it too long...
-
You can at least count on 3 weeks I guess.
-
My hinge just broke like other people, I just contacted Asus support and they said that my warranty doesn't cover physical damages ???? What is the warranty for ? Is Asus support b.s.ing me or is this true? Can anybody who sent his laptop to support for this problem confirm? Thanks a lot

I'm finally getting fed up with my battery life; low battery life due to multi-touch gestures (causes CPU to trigger turbo mode each time for 5-8 seconds). I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, latest ATK and Smart Gesture 3.0.10, 3.0.11, 3.0.12 and 3.014 to no avail.
I run chrome predominantly (yes I know it's horrible for battery) but my battery reports are showing 3-3.5hours average EVEN with the Task Scheduler fix. And Yes I tend to scroll alot!
I am ready to do a complete reinstall of Windows 8.1 Pro, going through the hassle of reconfiguring everything in hope to fix this problem. FYI. Using the touch screen doesn't cause CPU spikes, so it's not a system wide problem. It's simply the !^@#(*@#%! Asus Smart Gestures driver.
Seeking any intelligence on how I fix this for good please (sequence of driver installation, older driver versions, magic rituals to be performed at a certain hour....anything!)...
Thanks All,
P.S. I'm only aiming to gain 1-1.5 hours, not hoping to get a 10 hour battery life monster. -
Might be worth trying this ; http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...consumption-due-to-asus-smart-gesture.741039/
Edit; sorry, I saw you already tried that -
So here is what I can help you with.
Reducing screen refresh to 40 hz looks worse but reduces power usage by 1.5 to 2 w. = 1 hour of battery.
Use throttle stop. This is what you do. 1. create your own power plan and base it off the power saver one built in. This may seem silly but does work. Then use throlle stop and set your multiplier to x8 or what ever the lowest one is. Make sure to enable EIST,C1E, Power saver, Bd PROCHOT. The chipset modulation plus the clock modulation doesn't really do much for power other than make your laptop feel sluggish. (this will restrict the clock to 700 mhz)
All in all, both the mods should give you 8-10 hours of battery -
Oh, one more thing. Use IE. It is much better than you might think. I keep chrome for backup. This will give you about 30 mins to 1 hour of battery. -
Thanks man. If there is anything I can do to help, Please let me know. Worst case, I mess up, then can I flash the stock bios. And what is the risk of the bios being broken or spoilt. Thanks again
-
Keep being insistent. Show them it's a known manufacturing problem on your unit and they will have to fix it. The warranty doesn't cover user-produced physical damage indeed, but it should cover physical manufacturing issues.
That's what I would do at least.I have experience with getting bs-ed by warranties, which happens way too often where I live for some reason. -
I'm on my 3rd RMA and so far they haven't done anything to solve the problem. Not happy at all.
-
Thanks! That's what I did, they will cover the charges as part of the "Asus damage protection" program ; basically they're treating the case as an accident, whereas it really is a production default affecting a lot of users. Anyways they're covering charges and shipping costs after I started ranting. I still think it's unacceptable that Asus plays the ostrich policy and don't want to acknowledge this default affecting so many of their zenbooks. I'm afraid that even if they fix it, it will break down 8 months later. Someone really needs to sue them. We should put pressure on them to acknowledge 1/the yellow issue (although the fix makes it way better) and 2/the hinge issueLast edited: May 2, 2015Eclipse_lite likes this.

I agree on that! Zenbooks are probably the best ultrabooks on the market now. Great devices with awesome specs. However, looks like ASUS doesn't understand few things:
1. customer service is very-very-very important for customer satisfaction.
2. before shipping any product make sure its not broken! ( i am talking about the yellow issue and faulty hinges). Pack your product and send it to a customer only after you make sure that the product is flawless.
3. the product has to be easily accessible at the market. Customers should not go through hell to get the device they want (like ordering from Thailand, Germany, Singapore, Moon etc..)
4. Reviews of innovators and early adopters are critical. Those are the people who are going to spread the word and make a product well known
I really hope that somebody from ASUS reads this forum and reports to the management about problems and challenges of the product. If we together put more pressure on ASUS, it will be beneficial to everyone at the end.Last edited: May 3, 2015monty47 likes this. -
Guys, what is the best power setting for this baby from which you get the longest battery life without overly compromising the video and wifi quality?
Specifically, I am referring to:
"Advanced power settings" for Window's Power Option
"Intel Graphics" settings
and "NVIDIA" settings.
I tried using "maximum battery savings" for some of the settings on the "advanced power settings", but the video became unacceptably laggy, which isn't optimal to me. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Just set it to balanced if you want to watch video. You could investigate undervolting via intel xtu. Just ensure things don't trigger the nvidia chop by mistake.
-
I have the same hinge issue.
The cracking is plastic inside the hinge section that runs along the bottom of the screen breaking apart.
Every day I find small pieces of black plastic which have fallen out of that hinge section.
I'm going to see if I can open it up myself soon to see if I can fix it. -
This is a MUST share. Finally a plugin/extension that allows Chrome to use H264 for Youtube as opposed to VP8/VP9
http://www.ghacks.net/2015/02/16/problems-playing-youtube-videos-try-h264ify-for-chrome/
Enjoy! I can finally watch YouTube in 1080p at the lowest CPU speed (0.77ghz) fully accelerated. !!!Eclipse_lite and HTWingNut like this. -
I hope you know what you're doing, you don't want to void your warranty and not be able to fix it. On the other hand, if you find a fix, you'll be the messiahLast edited: May 5, 2015

i am actually happy with my firefox =\ find it better than Chrome at least coz i can watch 4k youtube videos with no problems.
-
Guys, do you have problems removing fingerprints off of your ux303?
-
I'm still waiting their reply to my request of substitution with a new unit due they haven't repaired mine but also tampered it.
I already opened 2nd RMA, but they have to do some check before resending my pc to service.
I'm in trouble with Asus Italy, and I'm pressing them a lot without any resolutive plan today.
My pc come back from assistance worse then when I shipped to.
The microphone problems persists and a cable come out from an edge of the screen due to a bad reassembly.
The upper aluminum cover is heavy scratched in 3 areas.
They changed the original lcd that was working perfectly and many other pieces that almost all work well.
The new screen has along the bottom side white halos with dark screens.
Wtf I'm repentant to have given a lot of money to Asus

Has anyone figured out a fix for the Smart Gestures 2 Finger Scrolling turning on turbo boost (ramping the processor to 2.7 GHz) for several seconds?
Secondly, does anyone know the power plug interior (pin) and exterior dimensions? Asus customer service is being inept in answering my question. I'm trying to buy an external battery back (from Anker) but the 4mm x 1.7mm plug is a little loose and the connection isnt stable.
Lastly, I got the matte screen version from Thailand (bought it there) and it's awesome. I needed to change cleartype bc it was initially fuzzy, but the screen is so bright it can be used in direct sunshine no problem. -
Hey guys, I have a solution for Asus problems.
HP Specter x360.
Regards, Jim -
That'd be fine if it had a dedicated GPU like the 840m.monty47 likes this.

As usual, just because a notebook fits you it does not mean it's better for everyone else.

I thought all Anker battery packs charged only through a USB connection?

Hello,
I'm looking for impressions on the Asus UX303LN from people who have some experience with it.
How is the batter life on normal use?
How is the battery life on gaming?
performance?
display and viewing angles?
keyboard and portabilty?
Please mention (i5\i7 [4\5] FHD/QHD).
Many thanks to you all

I have had mine now for about four months.
About 6-7 hours of general use here. I can in theory get up to 8-9 hours with very light use. I haven't really done any tweaking, so there should be potential for more.
Depends on the game, really. With the more demanding games, 1-2 hours. With less demanding ones, around 3 hours, if the dedicated card is running.
As long as the NVIDIA card is being used (it doesn't always switch to it automatically), I haven't had any problems with games. Having said that, I don't really play the types of games that are the most demanding specs wise.
Office programs, Adobe CS, Unity and others all run smoothly, as they should, even together.
It's a good display with superb viewing angles.
That said, I'm starting to hear a faint occasional pop when I open the laptop. Others have reported hinge problems with the screen, and I have this sinking feeling that I will be contacting ASUS support sometime soon.
The keyboard is good, it actually surprised me, although I have also had better. So, better than average maybe.
I haven't really travelled with the computer yet, but it's light and easy to carry around the house.
i7, Haswell, FHD, 12 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD.Last edited: May 13, 2015
