Hey! Has anyone used this laptop for music production? I would like to put a 1tb ssd in, an extra 8gb stick so I get 12gb ram. I want to run ableton live on it with lots of vst-instruments and sample libraries.

    Is all this possible?

Has any owner ran a dpc latency check on it?

I really do appreciate the fact that you are trying to help me :), but it did not work. I did do it twice to make sure. Do you know any way to maybe try to enable it through software, or the windows console rather than hardware keys, so maybe I can get to know if they accidentally remapped to something else.

    Again thanks for the help.

The ATKACPI usually activates the lightning right away after the installation.
Do you still have the original recovery discs?

Restart your PC, and then tap on F9 key to bring up recovery.

Sorry for all this trouble, but I finally got it working. I was not unzipping the rar files, and that's why it probably was not working. I have just one last question. What does the kb filter utiliy do? Thanks for all your help, and please excuse my incompetence.

The KB filter is associated with the controls from the keyboard and cooperates with keyboard utility.

Hello, I got the 500 gb version a couple of days ago and I mostly like it but I have had a number of issues. And I wonder if someone knows a solution to any of these.

The P button doesn't register unless pressed unnatrually hard.

The touchad was not sensitive enough for my liking, I don't want to actually press it down but rather touch to click. I couldn't find a sensitivity setting in the driver. After installing an old Asus driver the touchpad works really good but fn+ f9 to turn off touchpad no longer works. Is there a better way to change sensitivity?

I also have the problem with latop waking up during sleep/hybernation transition.

When the audio outut is activated (e.g. youtube-clip or audio file open but paused) and headphones are plugged a static noise is audible until the audio application is closed.

    What do you think? :)

I just recently received my UX32LN-R4100H (i5-4210U+6GB+120GB SSD) from http://www.proshop.no/. This is one of the new revisions of the Zenbook as it includes the updated i5/i7 series. It came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed but that is not an option for me, so I instantly started, what came to be a long adventure, installing Windows 7 from a USB stick.

There is a huge problem getting Windows 7 onto this laptop with USB stick though, as win7 does not support USB3.0 natively and you will find only USB3.0 ports on the UX32LN. Here is how to work around this problem.
(Warning; Use at your own risk. Only for relatively advanced users. If you don't feel confident in re-installing to Win7, keep the pre-installed Win8)

Step 1: Get a clean Windows 7 iso file on USB stick by using " Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool"

Step 2: Get boot.wim to include USB3.0 for the installation process.
» How to Install Windows 7 with only USB 3.0 Ports | Code A BitWiser
    - Mount the Intel eXtensible USB 3.0 Host drivers Win 7.

Step 3: Get install.wim to include USB3.0 so you can plug in usb after installation has finished.
» Add and Remove Drivers Offline
    - Mount the Intel eXtensible USB 3.0 Host drivers Win 7.

    Step 4: Prepare BIOS
    1. Plug in your USB stick with win7
    2. Enter bios by pressing F2
    3. Go to security tab and disable "Secure boot"
    4. Go to Boot tab and enable "Launch CSM"
    5. Save and quit
    6. Reboot and press ESC for boot menu to select your USB drive.

Once you got through all these steps you should be able to load the drivers needed onto the computer with USB stick after installation has finished. If the official drivers from Asus do not work, search for the Device hardware ID and download drivers directly from the vendor. (I had to do this for the Wireless connection, which was Atheros, and not Intel or Qualcomm as specified on asus official driver page).

I do too. During this night, it woke at 03:45, and seems to have kept going until morning. This has happened before. The battery was down to 2-4% when i noticed some hours later. According to the system log: "Wake Source: Power Button". Don't know how that can happen with the lid closed!?

My touchpad problems has worsened also. Now, in Windows, all gestures stops working when the computer wakes from sleep, most noticeably two-finger scroll. I have to restart AsusTPCenter.exe each time. The drivers seems to be the latest...

The same for me. Setting it to never hibernate was a workaround, but it is of course not ideal since the laptop will consume some power during sleep.

There are no plans to release LN models in the UK. That goes for all types of ultrabook from the 303 to the 32. So buy from abroad if you want one.

Is it just me or when you close the laptop does the left side close first, and the right one not close with the same force i.e. while opening one side has more pull, and push, and strength.

I have a UX32LN and I'm having problem with the audio jack. My headphones and earphones wont get recognized if you plug them correctly. The speakers will continue to play the audio. But when you plug the jack about 80% in, it will be detected. But I don't think that's the solution for this. Anybody else having this issue?

This is normal, because the audio jack is for either speaker out, or audio input, but not both at the same time.
According to the manual, this jack is "Headphone output jack port".
So if you need to speak/record then use the integrated microphone.

I don't think it's normal. No such audio port will only recognize your device when you partially connect the audio jack. Then it will not be seated properly or firmly connected and it will get disconnected any second.

This is the design definition set by ASUS, plus it's digital, so it can sense connectivity when something is plugged in.
The device plugged in contains two types of connectivity that may make a difference upon detection.

This kind of technology is nothing new. Even Apple laptops are using this. What I'm saying is that it wont detect the audio jack when you plug it firmly. Even without the Conexant driver, the Sound Properties in Windows 8.1 wont detect the audio jack.

Guys, each time i plug ny charger into my computer, the battery automatically set itself on Power4gear High Performance, and each time i reboot/unplug it, on Power4gear Power Saving. I would like to set on the middle, so Balanced seems to me a good thing. I dont need high performance, and on p4g Power Saving sometimes i have some lag.
So, how can i stop the automatical changement ? I want to keep the possibility to switch (if i play, p4g HP, if i just take notes, p4g PS), but i want to stop the automatic thing ... How can i do ?
    Thanks

Have you looked through the power gear 4 advanced settings? Each power plan has different settings for battery and plugged in so you can tune it regardless of which one is set.

Yeah i looked into, but havent found any setting to disable this ...
None of you have disable this ?

And another question, even if i think its not possible : its really boring that we have to push FN each time we want to change the volume, luminosity, keyboard's retrolight ... Can't we activate a function, thus if we push f11 it lower the volume, and FN+f11 push f11, and not the contrary ?
    Sounds more logical ...
And like if you watch a movie, and you have your hand behind the neck of your crush, you have or to looks like a dumb trying to lower the volume with one hand, thumb on fn and the little finger trying to reach the correct button, or make her move to take your second hand, and then replace your arm .. And really its uncomfortable in plenty of situations.
Of course thats a minor thing, but imo, thats an everyday comfort, and if its fixable, then it would be perfect !
    Thanks guys :)

Got my UX32LN-R4086H yesterday. Unboxing it the touchpad immediately caught my eye and it felt like something was wrong with it. Seems that the left side of it is higher and flex more than the right. There is also a small dent in the frame right underneath the left side of the touchpad. It works like it should but has squeaky sounds just by touching it and the lower edge on the left side is quite sharp. Went to the store and was made DOA and will get a new one tomorrow so everything's fine but still, has anyone else experienced the same kind of problems on this particular model (or Zenbook in general)?

    Prisjakt - Kunskap före köp

Do all the different models share the same screen? According' to the swedish site prisjakt the cheaper models have TN-panels and the more expensive have IPS.

I'm mostly interested in UX32LN-R4092H. Does it have an IPS or TN-panel?

According to Asus ( Notebooks & Ultrabooks - UX32LN - ASUS ) model UX32LN has no variations as to display type. You can have 3 different processors and 2 different WLAN cards, 3 types of disks but display is the same - it is IPS semi-matt display. So I wouldn't believe what shop says on its website.

Well, my experience is that shops are very confused about this. I can for sure say that model UX32LN-R4034H has Atheros a/b/g/n card, because I have one. I suspect UX32LN-R4051H has Intel ac/n ( ASUS Zenbook UX32LN i5-4200U/12GB/128+500/Win8 GT840 - Ultrabook 13,3" - Sklep komputerowy - X-KOM.PL ) because they say it has Intel WiDi, so it has to be Intel. I don't have a clue about other models.
