    Core i5 4200U
    Nvidia 840M GPU with 2GB DDR3
500GB HDD (Or SSHD - Not sure about this)
4GB DDR3 (Will add in 8GB from the shop)
    13.3" FHD Display
    Windows 8.1

I think this comes with the AC wireless networking card.

This thing will cost about US$ 880.

My question is, can it handle games like GTA V and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare with good fps and decent graphics?

Is there any more accurate program to show how much battery is left instead of windows own program? I cant see how much I have used my laptop

If it isn't for gaming why does it have a nvidia 840m GT? It plays most modern games with decent (30-60) fps at medium details and HD (1366 x 768) resolution. Games from last gen can usually be run at high and max res (dead space 3, Dota 2, Bioshock, etc.). I haven't tried GTA V and Calladooty but I'm sure it will be 30+ fps once tweaked. Whether that's enough for you depends on how serious you are about gaming.

hey guys, ive had this laptop for 3 months. Suddenly, out of the blue, when i use the "smart gesture" touchpad the mouse cursor gets crazy wobbly whenever i hover over an icon or item! It just keeps jumping up and down, when i use a mouse this doesn't happen. What can be causing this? is it borked? I updated the driver from the Asus site but same problem still. Any ideas? thanks.

Strange, seems if i move my laptop from my desk then it works fine, seems to be magnetic interference from the speakers on my desk. Can this happen? the speakers effect the cursor on my laptop? it never happened in the past 2 months, just recently....

From what I can tell, some people have tried older Call of Duty and Battlefield games on it and it ran them pretty decently on HD resolution. I was checking out the benchmark scores for the 840M and it seems to be a pretty capable little GPU. The DDR3 RAM is slow though.
Based on the specs, it should be able to handle GTA V and CoD Advanced Warfare (and similar games) without much of a problem. Albeit at lower graphics settings and resolutions. I don't mind playing at a lower res or graphic settings as long as I get to play with decent frame rates.
Like Eason said, this should be able to handle modern games decently at lower settings. I have a desktop PC that was running a 5750 till my GPU and motherboard blew up on me. Will fix that up in a few months time. Till then, this Zenbook should be able to give me 'some' gaming experience. No? :-/

Check over here for an estimate of how games run with it:
    NVIDIA GeForce 840M - NotebookCheck.net Tech

GTA V is still far away from being released for PC, but im optimistic that it will run at around medium(-low) settings and 1360x768 resolution.

Thanks for that link. That's precisely what I'm hoping for too. The Battlefield 4 performance listed for the 840M is what made me consider the UX32LN to be honest. It's giving about 44fps on medium settings at 1366x768 pixels.

*PC gaming master race checking in*

I bought this laptop so I could have an ultrabook which was portable for work but also powerful enough to hook up to a big monitor at home and play games, it does that fine. DX:HR runs very well, DOTA 2 runs well, Warframe runs well (60fps vsynced), generally they run very well. Titles that are less optimized, like Evil Within, don't play very well (but they are playable). I wouldn't buy it intending it for next gen games.

That's more like it. Yeah that's fine. I don't mind playing next gen titles with everything set to low. I basically need something for work that can let me play some games on the go. Don't care much for graphics on a tiny 13.3" screen lol I'll get my PC back up and running in a few months anyways I doubt I'll be playing next gen titles on this all that much. I was going to get a laptop for work primarily but my GPU and motherboard died on me. Now I need a laptop because I'll be travelling to another city for a few weeks so I need something portable that I can work and play some games on, but won't break the bank either. Out of the laptops I've come across here, this has the best GPU. The rest have an R7 265M or a 740M. This should be fine for these games then.

You could use a backup program to create an image of all the backup partitions and save it.

I saw that asus has a program called "asus backtracker" which lets you backup recovery partition and delete it. Have anyone used it? It says that I need atleast 16gb usb, but does anyone know if it works with an external hdd? Because I dont have any 16gb usb stick

Hey guys. I have this laptop, and the right hinge has collapsed. My friend has the same laptop as me, and he bought it a few days after me. Surprisingly his right hinge broke too. I have 2 years of standard international warranty. Do you think that they will fix this, or can I just ask for a new laptop. It is under 6 months old. Furthermore I get blue screen errors quite often. The most common blue screen error that I get is the POWER_DRIVE_STATE_FAILURE. My friend gets the same problems too. Ps I have the latest driver, and I also get the problem with the driver that the laptop shipped with.

The BSOD is a result of the optimus switching from nvidia to intel graphics. It s up quite often doing it. I recommend switching your video settings to "prefer nvidia" so it doesn't turn it off. That stops the BSODs.

I would like to keep the action hotkey (dimming / brightening, enable / disable wireless, etc.) but without the visuals.
How to do it in this laptop, running Win7?

    Did anyone experience coil whine?

I got my computer with a coil whine. I returned it and got a replacement... this replacement has coil whine too. It just let's me think that there's a problem with my hearing or the seller's got a whole batch of faulty laptops.

    Theoretical solution below:

open start menu and search for "ASUS On-Screen Display" - open it and uncheck the box.

    Reality:
I don't have a clue if this application is part of windows 7 asus driver installs. It is present in windows 8 however and does just what you asked for...

You have to go extreme to really get more than 4 hours, so unless you really need the extra battery life otherwise I wouldn't recommend that over user experience or enjoyment.

Just ensure the dedicated gpu is not active, screen brightness is as low as you can tolerate and you are in balanced/power saver mode. If you are already doing this, that is about it.

Any hope of playing Final Fantasy 14 on this? I was hoping someone who's maybe tried it or has experience can let me know if the game works at all. Someone said I need at least a GT 840M but the 970 would be even better, which is not available on these ultrabooks...

Wow the 840m to 970m is a fairly large range of performance! It will run you will just have to tweak the settings.

    Hey guys,

I was wondering : i didnt had the use until now, but how do we change the graphic card ?
Does it goes automatically on the GT if we put the Power4Gear High Perf ?
Because each time i launch uTorrent (to download legal things, of course ), its impossible to watch a movie or make smth at the same time without freezes ...
And its not like uTorrent was a huge thing to run ... I havent tried to run a game, but if i cant manage to run uTorrent and a movie at the same time with full capacity, i'm afraid of what it would be with a game ...

The only reason I can think utorrent might be causing stutters is if you have an *extremely* fast connection, and it's downloading at a rate that is near the limit of the write speed of the HD. This has nothing to do with the graphics card, which will be used when needed if you set it to "high performance" in the graphics properties.

Yes uTorrent can cause a lot of small file writes to the HDD which can cause stuttering, an SSD would be able to cope.

In the nvidia control panel if you go to the tabs on the top you can enable a visual indicator to confirm if the dGPU is on or not.

For the most part, windows 10 worked just fine - except for some reason every time I launched photoshop, the laptop froze after about a minute. Had to go back to windows 8.1 for that reason. Other than that, it worked great and I am really looking forward to windows 10 - I never realized how useful the start menu is and the ability to run metro apps in windowed mode is also great, since you essentially remove that stupid thick grey bar that separates desktop enviroment and metro apps when running side by side.

So my mini displayport seems to be broken. I would have issues that my screen blanked occasionally, but it didnt bother me too much. Now it does not work at all anymore. I have checked different cables and different monitors. I will rule out a software problem by booting from windows setup, but I guess I have to send it in. Any experiences with that? Will they bother to complain that I have opened the laptop before?

Sent mine for rma. Had random crashes and very hard to boot up. Only boots once cmos clock resets to 2009-01-01 after a random number of minutes. Opt for ux303 or nx500 since ux32 in no longer available.

Smart gesture drivers version 3.0.8 (originally for UX305): http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin8.1/SmartGesture/SmartGesture_Win81_64_VER308.zip

Must uninstall old smart gesture first.

No major difference or problems so far. New function called Asus Remote Link allows for PC control from android phone over bluetooth. I had to sideload the .apk to my phone (google play claimed it was not compatible with my devices), everything works fine though (power point presentation mode, touchpad mode, etc.)
