Isn't it the C90 barebone, Ca $ 1249?

It's the same thing. It is not in stock though, it is only a 'pre-oder', so you give them your money(or part of, deposit I would assume) ahead of time, and when it does come, they'll ship it to you.
-
hope it comes closer to mid June or so (earlier the better!)... would make a great Father's Day present to myself

How much does desktop CPU faster than Mobile Core 2? Like how many percent? how about the heat issue?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
THanks a lot guys for the prompt replies! So you guys don't think that this notebook will arrive to personal computer shops this month?
-
I think they'll receive by the first couple weeks of June. Well, that just might be wishful thinking
-
the guy over at milestonepc said they where expecting their first shipment of C90s in this week??
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Asus has said the C90s will be more toward the end of the month/first of June.
-
Thanks for the update Justin

Chris -
c90 has piano finished, right?
-
Maybe I just really want this laptop, but the fans at the back are looking less and less odd. Guess it's growing on me =P -
Vrrooom Vrrooom?
-
personally, i prefer to have the fans on the back as opposed to blowing out the side where your mouse is.
chris -
yea anyway the fans just scream my computer is faster than yours to people in the know but yet don't draw too much attention to yourself like say a glowing alien does (you should see the distraction mine causes in school...high school kids...). And if the the fans keep the thing cool who cares with the performance that is expected with conroe.

Anyone know if the c90 supports 4gigs of ram? I would assume so, but I remember reading on some spec sheets that say "up to 3gigs" anyone know for sure?
Another question. I am really having a hard time deciding whether to go for the c90 now or wait for the "enthusiast" mobile GPU to come out this summer. If I get the 8600m gt now there is no way I will get a 8800/8900 a few months down the road, but I have been holding off getting a laptop for about 6 months. Anyone in the same boat? -
2. I definitely hear you, but remember that if you're looking for a 15" notebook there is no guarantee that there will EVER be an enthusiast level card for laptops under 17," so you could be waiting for something that will never happen. I'm probably going to get a C90 because I've waited long enough, and I might even have the option of upgrading in the future if the high end cards end up being allot better then the 8600m and are available in MXM II. It's your call though, reasonable people can disagree on this. -
-
2. The reason I think that the c90 will support it is because the Milestone said that by the beginning of 2008 we should have about 5 cards to choose from. He also mentioned that there would be a non-extreme (no big fans out the back) version, so I assume that this extreme version can house the "enthusiast line as well.
I would imagine it would be pretty tough trying to sell the 8600m gt on ebay if I wanted to upgrade down the road...
I guess I'll wait for some c90 reviews at the very least, and then go from there. Thanks for the reply. -
does anyone think theres a chance of the 8700m going in it?
-
Considering 17" will have the 8700 for sure, it's highly doubtful. However, only time will tell, perhaps the ASUS R&D will find a way by next January.
-
Yeah an 8700M would be absolutely amazing. But hey, I can deal with a 8600M GT. Anyone think it could handle Crysis and UT3? O and hardwarezone has an a short article about upcoming DX10 laptops.
-
Does anyone know if the new video cards will drive the 30" dual link monitors?
-
-
I only have one question about this motherboard included. Does it support having a Xeon installed? I'm really interested about this, since P965, P35 and nVidia 600 series chipsets support the 3000 series Xeons. I'm interested about a 3060 Xeon (the equivalent of 6600) which is running at a lower voltage.
-
-
Well...I want to know for sure. Those Xeons are about 10 - 15 bucks more expensive (though here some are cheaper) and run at a lower voltage...
-
first I was thinking of asus s96j as a great barebone solution
but for sure I m even more interested in c90
so is it possible for c90 to have 2 internal disks, or will it be more like 1 internal disk and 1 external disk via esata adapter or something like it ?
I m thinking of dual booting Linux/Windows and having each sistem on separate disk.
You can boot from extrnal sata (esata) disk correct ?
..and is there any information on when will it be possible to buy c90 in Europe ?
bye

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Has anyone heard about the C90P? I read in an article that another version with the new bearlake chipset from intel was going to be released named the C90P. It made sense to me since it was odd that it was named the C90"S". I am really interested in purchasing the bearlake version because then it will be really futureproof and customizable especially with the new penryn processors coming out early next year. Also excited about the new geforce 8700m thats supposedly going to come out next month since it will finally bridge the gap between the 8600 and 8800.
-
The c90 can only take in one hard drive from what we know.
However, remember the c90 has yet to be released, so when it does the official details will be shown then. -
any news on when the c91s will be available? or when specs will be released for it?

for those saying "look what happened when they put p4's in notebooks". If everyone said that when nvidia RE-RELEASED(remember sli was out before but it sucked and was scrapped) sli we wouldnt have that or cross fire and sli works great. Technology is much more advanced as far as pc's are conserend. Im ordering the c90 in a week or so. Think of how many times we wished we could take our desktops everywhere, now u can. Lan parties will be completely changed if this really goes off and nvidia and ati starts competing like they do for desktop vid cards think of how many more companys will adopt fully customazable laptops. Then it will be pc enthusiates heaven, a fully upgradable notebook and desktop. And now all u'll need to take to a lan party is the laptop, keyboard(if u dont like the notebooks), mouse, and monitor(i mean external if u choose). Gentlemen an ladies, welcome to the true NEW MILLENIUM(excuss the typos, spelling isnt my strong point lol)

Only killer in the C90 as a gamer is the video card will never be as strong as a desktop, not even a mini system.
Maybe just maybe external video cards will fix that, then we would be set.
So sure LAN parties will work on this esp for older games, but I think stuff like UT2004 and Crysis will have to be on pretty low settings, and who knows what future games will hold.
Im only getting this for medium/light gaming anyways. I'll still always do my serious gaming on my 37" HD LCD and Desktop. -
-
No, I think he means UT3.
lol
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Lol yeah UT3
I had UT2004 in my head for some reason -
I emailed Milestone PC and this was the response I got.
I am still waiting for Asus to have it ship to North America.

I called Milestone PC and asked about the "C90P" or "C91" (the version using Santa Rosa) and they said expect that to come sometime next month....
They also said they're going to be receiving a shipment of the C90S next week.
Does anybody know how large of a spec difference there will be between the C91 and C90S? -
If the C91 is using a Santa Rosa, the C90S will obviously be stronger since it's using a desktop processor instead.
Other than that, I don't know enough about the C91 to compare. -

Id be happy with the C90S, but the big advantage to santa rosa is it should allow the 45nm cpus to be put in there when the time comes.
Im waiting for the C80? the one with bearlake chipset, thats the one to get. Then you can put one of the cheaper desktop 50' series cpus in there wich are insane fast, 3ghz stock no overclocking and a 1333mhz fsb for like 350$~ somthing along those lines, and they have improoved memory performance on that chipset and it definitly supports 45nm cpu's unlike the santa rosa wich is still in the grey area if it will support them or not. -
I think you mean C90P. I don't see why the number would go down if it's stronger. XD

The C80 supports DDR3 its been announced, I know bearlake is DDR3 so it only makes sense that the C80 finaly jumped to the bearlake chipset. Its also the reason I think you can not find any info on the C90P, I belive they scraped the project to put more into the other "C" series computers.
The C90 is a super strong system no doubt, and I will probably get one unless they do announce the c80 somtime soon and give the details on its price and specs.
A upgrade to MXMIII and bearlake is significant, that by all means could be a full bown replacement to a desktop. -
Here are some more pics and highlights from Computex 2007. Enjoy.
