I stopped at best buy tonight to look at the g60, I think I like the system overall but am thinking of ordering the slightly higher spec one from their website. The one online has a 2.53ghz p8700 and a second 320gb hd. I'd really like to know if raid can be enabled? I don't know if I want to spend the extra money for a second drive (partially) if I can't use raid. I'd love to have raid 0 but don't need the extra storage, just the extra speed.

ah crap, knew I did something wrong... but just for those of you that are dying to get a number...3D mark 06 default resolution at 1280 x 720 on laptop monitor score 9020

This baby runs very hot, uptoward 86C but still cooler than G51 BUT one distinct feature of G60 is it cools down much much faster than G51 does.. with 2 minutes its back down to 66C

Ok, you guys are gonna hate me but I have to go out to dinner, but I have all I need to review and will type it up after I come home in a few :D

Hi. I'm in Canada and I'm wondering if it's even possible for me to get the G60Vx-RBBX09. I see it on the U.S BestBuy website, but still not on the Canadian one . It doesn't seem to be sold anyware else. Is there a reason it's only being sold in U.S. BestBuy's? Any help from some fellow Canadians or anyone who knows how I might be able to get one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :D

I actually called best buy one time to look up a purchase about a year later. They weren't super happy to go back that far but after 10min or so on the phone they found the old purchase. I think I had put it on a best buy card though.

I really hope raid is in the bios somewhere. From what I've read you could enable it on the g51 and I hoped these notebooks would be basically the same. I ordered the higher spec one this evening from the bb website. I use maybe 100gb storage so that extra hd will be a waste for me if I can't raid it. FYI, I know Australia has had the g60 for a little while according to something I read somewhere and it shows up on the au asus site, unlike the usa site.

I cant make up my mind now. I have sent my computer in twice to ASUS and basically it cam back more screwed up than when sent. I thinking about the G60VX from best buy, and the Sager NP8662. Which is a better deal? Was thinking Sager because of lower GPU temps... However I have noticed many of you saying that this model stays decently low. Any suggestions

If you can afford to spend a little extra go with the NP8662 it runs cooler and it performs better + screen res is much better also but the ASUS is pretty good in itself.

Yeah thats the thing I have a windows 7 copy coming actually 2 for free... So... If I bought that Sager, I wouldnt have to worry about upping the price to add an operating system... So it comes out about same.. What i liked about G60 was the 9-cell battery coming with it... Downfall was the low res.. I used to my 1920 by 1080... But I could revert.

Surprisingly, Best Buy keeps a record of all Best Buy members (rewards member, credit card memeber, or put yourself in their system) for up to 6 months to a year, which is awesome. They found my reciept and reprinted it, I already emailed off my scanned receipt. Now I just have to play the waiting game, hope everyone is liking their G60VX. Bet you all are lovin the new Windows 7, I envy you but will be joining ya'll soon ;)!

EDIT: Would like to point out that if people want the same CPU as the G72GX but not the 17" screen, Best Buy's online site sells the G60VX-RB0X5 with the P8700 at the same price as the G72GX-RX05 (yep, $1199). Oh, and the G60VX-RB0X5 also has 640GB of Hard drive space (2 x 320GB 7200RPM), like to point that out also ;)!

if you purchase from asus directly (non best buy purchase) you can get free of charge the accidental breakage coverage free for one year. Also Asus will replace the screen even if their is just one dead pixel on it.... This is only for non best buy purchases.. For best buy accidental coverage for 1 year is $99. I purchased my g60 from Best Buy with the $99 accidental coverage for 1 year. my purchase was an exchange from a g51 with a bad screen..
