No I am not the same guy. This is the first time I have posted here.

I do not have install disks for Windows 8. The notebook came with it pre-installed. The closest I could get was to create recovery USB from the original HDD.

I replaced my HDD with a Samsung 840 Pro and a fresh copy of Windows, seems to be working fine mostly. I recall some people earlier in the thread saying they were having trouble with Crucial SSDs.

I'm having this weird issue where suddenly my battery won't charge over 63%? It's like, stuck there. The charge light on the PSU is still red, so I guess it's still charging, but it's been like that for a while now...

You'll have to download a copy of Windows 8 from somewhere in order to do a fresh install. Look for windows 8 core - any other version and it won't pick up the product key automatically.

Ok did some experimenting, and my battery seems to drain when unplugged, doesn't drain when plugged in, but won't charge regardless of whether the PC is on or off. Uh oh.

I successfully replaced the 500GB HDD with a Samsung 830 256GB SSD by cloning the used space on the 500gb hdd with ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE 2014.
There's a 14 day trial period, where you don't have to pay anything.

It worked flawlessly by saving the image of the HDD on an external drive, then replacing the hdd with the ssd, and then copying the image onto it.

    Was on Windows 8.1

If you have a multimeter, make sure your adapter is putting out the correct voltage. It could be a bad brick. The problem you're experiencing can be a number of things non-battery related unfortunately. You might have to take it apart and disconnect/reconnect the battery. Did you have to do that before for any reason and maybe the connection wasn't reattached properly? Since it's such a new battery, I would think bad cell is the least likely cause of the problem at this point. Good luck - that is a frustrating problem to have.

I slightly moved the battery to replace the HDD, but I didn't actually disconnect it. After replacing the HDD, it worked fine for about a month until just now. Haven't opened it since then.

Great, I just looked at mine and it won't charge past 95%. I'm sure that's just the beginning. I'm going to fully drain my battery and let it recharge. Hopefully it's nothing...

It's little bit weird for me, but I assume that this laptop is not in shops for long time, but it's marked as "sale" in many of our local shops.
Do anybody know why? It's old? Or some successor is on the road?

Have any of you guys been successful in getting a ux302 that didn't have excessive backlight bleeding? I traded mine in for a replacement and found it to have this level of bleeding:

    IMAG2113.jpg

How many times does one have to go through the arduous process of replacing to finally get the right product!

Could some of you please post a snapshot of your screen? I'm curious to know if this much backlight bleeding is common on the ux302.

Yours seems to be worse than mine, which only had some bleeding on the bottom.

However, I ended up exchanging mine due to the keyboard bulging as well as some audio issues.

Now, NCIX is out of stock and can't provide me w/ an exchange until April!

Mine has similar bleed on the bottom but nowhere else. I don't think the bottom backlight bleed is avoidable.

My replacement ux302lg arrived today and this one is also a French model, despite Amazon insisting that they would have someone at the warehouse check to make sure it is a UK model. I have been using the original model and it has quite bad light bleeding as well as a warped keyboard. The keyboard warp is not bad at all but the light bleeding it quite annoying. I've looked at the new model briefly and it also has a warped keyboard, haven't turned it on because it's going straight back so can't comment on light bleeding for this one. Aside from the fact that it has a French keyboard which is really annoying to use, I like the ux302lg and only wish that a UK model was officially available in the UK. It can't be that hard for ASUS to do surely.

I do not believe this is a feature on the 302LA. Mine will go up to 100%. Is there a way to enable this feature somehow? I don't understand why this isn't uniform across all laptop batteries as this seems to be the largest issue, deterioration of their charge.

Thankfully i happen to have almost no screen bleeding at all. I got the German Version of the UX302LA-C4009H.
However, here in Germany, this model costs 1299€ which is about $1800.

Looks like you have the bottom bleed too. It's like those are pinch points where screws are or something. Wish there was an easy way to loosen them.

Not according to this guy at Asus Sweden: (google translated)

ASUS releases Zenbook UX32LN with Maxwell - sequel to UX32VD - News Comments - SweClockers.com

    -------

UX303 is still not advertised. They are a new one that will come later .
UX301/UX302 is our most highend Premium Zenbook in Gorilla Glass chassis and Touch, the UX32 is still premium but not as expensive, but Zenbook Touch and the aluminum chassis.

I would rate them in the premium class:
    1. UX301LA (WQHD Touch, IRIS graphics, SSD, super-thin)
2nd UX302LG (Full HD Touch, GT730, SSD or HDD)
3rd UX31LA (Full HD Touch, Intel HD, SSD, super-thin)
4th UX32LN (Full HD, GT840, SSD or HDD)
5th UX302LA (Full HD Touch, Intel HD, HDD)
    6. UX32LA (HD, Intel HDD, HDD)

every UX303 lands is not entirely clear.

Thanks for the link. Yeah, after looking at it more, the UX32LN isn't all that appealing. Last years chassis, with no touch. The only thing I would want is the video card, but it really isn't that high of a want to give up all the other stuff. The way he makes it sound, the UX303 will probably be out in October.

What do you think about this level of backlight bleeding? Is this comparable to your screens? Thanks!

Looks a lot like mine. I only notice it on boot and in dark rooms with black on the screen. I don't think it gets much better than that unfortunately. I'll take the bleed on the bottom edge though, over heavy bleed on the upper corners or the sides. I've seen it so bad on some laptops where it actually affects the colors. This is certainly tolerable compared to most.

    Hi Guys,

I've been looking to buy the UX302LG but it seems to be sold out of just about every store I check. Does anyone know of any websites that still stock this model? Or if anyone knows of a similar spec'd laptop (discrete graphics,i7, light weight) I'd love to hear it! I'm in Canada btw.

    Thanks

I had to return my 302 due to backlight bleeding, warped keyboards and dysfunctional touchpad. Hope that next piece will be better. When I get new one, I'll post the benchmark for this disk.

Hi Xentar712, when you said 'messing with the screen mounts,' do you mean the screws that attach the screen to the body itself? If so, I find it a bit odd that those screws would affect the pressure of the screen itself. What'd you think?

    hi everybody,

i'm about to buy a ux302lg, the rep in the local store said that i cannot put a 8gb ram stick in the slot cause motherboard has restriction only up to 8gb total ram memory.
is it true? does anybody have a 8gb stick in memory slot and does it work to have more than 8gb ram (including onboard memory)?

If I'm not wrong, UX302LG should have 4 GB soldered (beside UX301?). So there is no problem to run with total of 12GB.
I also bought 8GB ram in one stick, but I haven't try it yet because I had to return my LG back to seller and I'm waiting for the new piece.
