Yes, those are the mounts I meant. Try flexing any corner of the screen and see the result - you'll notice that you can cause bleed by applying even the slightest force to bend the panel. If the mounts were not centered with the screws(i.e. the right side was forward 1mm and the left side was back 1mm) you might get a torsional force applied to the screen. Was just a thought - I never had the problem so I can't test it. I would have nothing to do with the typical BLB we all see on the bottom edge though. That would only be cured if we could take our panels apart(which I'm not willing to do)

An 8GB stick should work. Just make sure you get the right kind. There are a number of suggestions in previous posts as to which ones work.
-
My drive shipped already. I should have benchmarks by the weekend. I'm putting it in my wife's laptop.
-
Onboard ram for the LG is 4gb, and it ships with 4gb removable for 8gb total. You remove the removable one and replace it with an 8gb and bam 12gb is yours.
There have been some reports that the removable module is actually slower than the onboard one, so it's a minor bottleneck? I'm not sure if we ever figured out what ram speed this notebook ACTUALLY supports? -
yeah, you'll be probably faster
my is in processing, and the route from US to Czech Rep. is too long
but I'm looking forward on it, with 8GB as additional RAM should make little beast from my LG (ehm, I hope!
)
-
i checked with the ram, there is a 2gb soldered & 2gb stick so i will remove 2gb and add a 8gb so will be 10gb total.
another question i have: as you know there is a msata mini 16gb, i migrated os to my samsung ssd and now system runs from this ssd, but the msata disk is not visible in my computer only in device manager. So the question what for is it since all the os files are on the main disk, as i suppose it is not used at all, so if it's so how we can include this disk to work (eariler i read that this disk is for cache but for what kind of cache?). Would be glad to any clear explanation -
Hit Start -> Disk Management(or create and format hard disk partitions). Them look for your drive and format and give it a drive letter. Since you cloned your drive, I'm curious if it kept the caching feature on or not. You might have to turn that off first. There's plenty of references out there on how to do that.tranquility79 likes this.

it's a crucial stick .. not sure about the exact model because the reseller installed it for me then threw the box away...
for me it's 2gb soldered (Singapore model) so total is 10gb. Pardon my maths in the initial post
-
all,
It is very important that if you are going to replace your RAM that you use the same spec ram that is soldered to the bother board.
When I say spec that does not include the brand or this size just speed and latency.
This have been posted in previous posts in this thread.tranquility79 likes this. -
So much for getting it early. They sent me an M.2 drive instead. I knew it was too good to be true to receive it 2 weeks before the preorder date.
-
I got the wrong one as well. Have you contacted them yet?
-
Sent them a message on their website. I also sent a PM to the guy on Slickdeals that told me about them. no response yet
-
The part number on the invoice was correct the part number on what arrived was different. I think someone in the warehouse just filled orders wrong.
-
I am affraid the worst... It costs 35$ for delivery and UPS called me at friday that after weekend they delivery me my order... So it's very presumable that I'll get wrong drive too
-
Not sure how it works for international, but in the US if you refuse the package it gets returned to the sender. Probably the least costly way to return something. Check with your carrier and see how it works for you.

Hello,
I've read all 92 pages of this thread and hopefully someone can help me out with this simple but mind boggling fix. I accidently removed the front rubber feet instead of the back ones. This was pretty easy to do. I just used a slim plastic type of credit card.
My problem now is I cant snap this rubber feet back on. Is the back feet installed the same way with the screw. I don't want to find out if I can't snap that back in too then I'll have 2 rubber feet I can't put back.
I have a 15 day return at BB but it seems like I got a good one here with the only known issue is my backlight bleeding on the bottom on boot up. Thanks for any help. -
So I just decided to take the plunge and open the baby up. The front 2 rubber feet are different from the rear. The rear ones you will probably end up losing unless you glue them back. The front ones are installed with one way in and it locks in but you can pull them out. The way I installed them back in was I took the panel off so I can get more leverage. I took a plier and squeezed the rubber feet mount thin enough where I can at least poke it though the whole. I then squeezed it in real tight and got it in and turned it a couple of times and there was still enough plastic on the other side to lock in place.

I just received this reply:
Please accept our apology for the mistake.
Your part and an addressed return envelope are on the way.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
I look forward to getting the replacement. -
Just got a response today that my correct order is shipping along with a return envelope for the other drive. A painless error considering I wasn't planning on getting the drive until April.
Edit: Just saw your above post - good -
I would contact them and ask what they want you to do. Tell them that you know a couple of people that have their same orders delivered with an incorrect item and see if you should open it and wait for a return envelope, or just refuse it.
-
I asked Mrs. Dorothy from mydigitaldiscount.com and she told me they send me a return label for UPS and that the right drive will be sent to me tomorow - they act like professional and are kind (it's not very common in our national e-shops).
But it's still strange, because on their website they say this is just preordering and the drive will not be available until April. I wrote her if she is really sure that they can sent me the right drive tommorow, but without reply yet. -
was considering this ultrabook for last 2 weeks as i am moving on from laptops for gaming and to laptops i can take for presentations to clients offices....this seems like something i wouldnt be embarassed taking out of my bag and infact looks better than macbook air.
but i havent found a single person saying positive things about Asus laptops reliability and longevity..also very bad customer service even during warranty..
the reason i had been an hp loyalist is not because of anything but customer service in my town..but asus seems to be universally having very bad service...i spent half an hour reading their facebook page..
also..seems to be lot of component failure issues.
so if i want a reliable laptop for business and office usage but yet very aesthetic...would u recommend this?
i am keeping this and dell xps as 2 best options so far -
I think it said preorder for April because it was an incoming shipment from China that was already delayed once. They were probably being conservative. HOPEFULLY this next shipment is the right one. I get mine on Thursday.

I've bought many many laptops over the past few years. There are pros and cons to all of these companies, which balances them all out. Asus is top notch in design, next to Apple but they lack in quality control. My experience is if you don't get a lemon, you'll be ok. So if you do get one of these laptops, test EVERYTHING and then test it again. If you find something wrong, exchange it with the vendor and not Asus. As for long term issues, I have a few people in my family with Asus laptops(mostly RoG) and they have lasted 5+ years so far with no further issues. The build quality on this Ultrabook is good enough that I think it will last a long time. It's not the best but it's still really good - I still think the Acer S7 and Macbook Air's build quality is amazing in comparison. If you take care of it and don't do anything reckless, chances are the electronics will last. And yes, it's practical for business. I work in an office and I think most of my colleagues are envious(even the ones with Macbook Air's)Jarred_cz likes this.

Unbelievable that I should receive the right drive tomorrow
I really love UPS
BUT I still haven't got new piece from Asus, so pretty useless
EDIT:
Currently I got answer from mydigitaldiscount.com:
Me:
Dear Dorothy, are you sure, that the right SSD is available already? Because on your website it's "preorder, ETA April".
MDD.com
Dear Jared,
Unfortunately, that is correct. Yesterdays shipment has been pulled. The drive you preordered (ETA April) will be shipped to you as soon as they come in. Again I apologize for the error. -
Just got a confirmation from the source that told me about the drive in the first place. It looks like the drives are due to be shipped out from Taiwan on the 27th, which means they probably won't get here until mid next week and then to our doorsteps shortly after. So the replacement drive I'm getting is another wrong item. I'm sure there's enough room in the return envelope for 2 drives.

Has anyone had problems with OpenGL on the LG's 730m? I can run Furmark and crank the temp just fine up to like 80c with no problems but if I drag a cube around in Blender I get a BSOD lol.
-
Who knows what mine will be. I bought a refurb since it was all that was in my price range. It should be here by the end of the week or beginning of next. I will give it once over since I have read most of this thread and know some of the things I should look for ie. raised keyboard frame, light bleed, and dead pixels. Anything else I should look over? This is my first "non" Sony VAIO laptop, so I hope it goes well.
-
Yup, got a full size msata this time lol. Guess they are both going back in the return envelope they gave me. At least this isn't costing me anything. -
Same as me
MDMS-SC2-128 arrived this time
Return is free so I don't care.
Poor person from their store, guess he will be without sallary' bonus this month
-
Got another one today as well.
-
getting back to ram thing, guys please help me to select from following ram options, if they will suit my 302LG:
New Hynix 8GB PC3L 12800 DDR3 1600MHz 204pin SODIMM Laptop Memory CL11 1 35V | eBay
Patriot PSD38G1600L2S Signature DDR3 8GB CL11 PC3 12800 1600MHz 1 35V SODIMM | eBay
8GB DDR3 1600 8g PC3L 12800 CL11 204pin 1 35V SODIMM KVR16LS11 8 Notebook RAM | eBay
if they are all ok, so which one is better due brand. -

Any reason you are going for ebay?
-
I bought this from Newegg. It works perfectly fine. Some people don't like Mushkin. I say, buy whatever has good reviews and test your ram when you install it. If it tests ok and you match all your specs, you're fine. I would avoid eBay since returns might be more ugly. Sometimes you get a bad stick.
Edit: if you buy on Newegg before the 21st, you get 10% off with this coupon code if you checkout with V.Me. code: VMEMADNESS -
the reason is shimpent to my country, those items from ebay they ship to Kazakhstan otherwise i would prefer newegg if they could deliver it to me
edit: got a crucial ram from a local store, 8 GB DDR3 Crucial, CT102464BF160B, CL11, 16 chip, 1.35V, so far no problem

Has anyone figured out how to get the Crucial M500 to boot?
-
I'm still waiting as well. No news in this thread from crucial -> Asus UX302LG and M500 compatibility - Page 3 - Crucial Community

There's a new firmware update MU05, has anyone tried it? I'll probably get round to it next week or so. -
there's also BIOS 209 update for UX302, I'll try both updates by next week also.
-
-
Any significant advantage to updating that you could note of?

UX-302LA on sale again at Best Buy today 3/29. $799
None of these are perfect so go try out a couple, I probably should have kept the light bleeding one on boot up then the one I have now. This one the screen is perfect but the touchpad is all over the place. Other than that, I really dig it. My only upgrade I did was a Kensington 8gb stick bought at Amazon for $74.00. Now I have a total of 10gb Ram. It works fine. I will keep the HDD and wait for the 500 SSD Samsung Evo 840 to go lower in price.
So on this unit, the 9 screws to remove the cover were all T5 with one being a T4. The best way to take the rear rubber feet is from the rear of the foot since that end is not glued down. If you don't plan to open this baby up again I would use some clear silicone glue to make sure they don't come off. I've lost a foot from the previous one, luckily I found it and tape it until I was finished with it.
So I actually got this machine for $779 by opening a Best Buy card and opting for interest free financing for 18 months. They gave me $20 discount for opening an account. -
also installed 209 on mine ... here's the info about this BIOS update
I didn't know that the SSD model had a TPM
-
looks pretty good.. now trying to think should I get this or spend $999 and get the Samsung ATIV 9 plus (same processor, 4gb ram, 128ssd, qhd+ screen)
-
I would go the Samsung route. QHD and SSD are worth $200 easily. Not to mention having to deal with less quality problems. The only thing the Zenbook has over it is looks
-
*The only thing the LA has over it is looks.
I'm not even sure why the LA and LG are the same thread. -
Anyone having issues with the keyboard backlighting flashing off and on after resuming from suspend?
-
You're right - I was thinking that when I replied. Every time I see someone comparing these laptops with other models with internal graphics, I cringe until I realize they are talking about the LA model.
-
You mean Kingston, right ?
-
I agree they should be two different threads.
Go make a new thread.........
