    Hi all,

After scanning through this thread, I still don't know if I have an answer to my question for the Asus S6F.

Are the drivers on this thread work for all Asus notebooks or model specific? If it's the latter, how do I go about getting Vista drivers for the S6F?

I'm still waiting for my upgrade to come in but would like to get a head start and compile all the drivers needed. I understand this notebook isn't as popular as the others since there are very little discussions here but any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone for their time in finding these drivers. I really do appreciate it.

I had problems using the FN keys on my Z96JS, and somebody here recommended a BIOS upgrade (which was not on the ASUS site! I thought I had the most recent BIOS!). Everything works beautifully now except: the built-in mic doesn't work and, more importantly:

When I hit the EMAIL quick launch button it launches Thunderbird fine, but it doesn't use my default profile! Why is it doing this all of a sudden? I can't figure it out for the life of me...

    Any suggestions?

EDIT: The same thing occurs when I use the Internet Browser button: Firefox starts but with no profile loaded! I can start them just fine using the shortcuts and the .exe files in Program Files.

    Thanks,
    Brian

P.S. - The BIOS update for the Z96J/S96 series is here: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scr...FullName=All%20Operating Systems&lang=eng

    Enjoy!

OK well I just dug a little bit deeper. For anybody that might have the same problem, here is the solution.

When I installed the new drivers for the Media Buttons for my Z96JS, it changed the location in which Thunderbird and Firefox looked for a profile to start with, but ONLY when the buttons were used.

    It changes this location to:
    "C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird"
    for Thunderbird and
    "C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla"
    for Firefox.

What you want to do is point the profile.ini file in each of those folders to your old/existing profile. This is located at:
    "%AppData%\Thunderbird"
    and
    "%AppData%\Mozilla"

    1) Copy your Thunderbird profile.ini file onto the Desktop.
    2) Double click it to open/edit it, and change it so it looks like the following:

    Code:
    [General]
    StartWithLastProfile=1

    [Profile0]
    Name=default
    [B][I]IsRelative=0[/I][/B]
    Path=[B][I]C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\YOUR_PROFILE_NAME.default[/I][/B]
    Default=1

    3) Save the file.
    4) Copy the file to "C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird" and overwrite the one that is there.

    5) Repeat the process for your Firefox profile.ini file. Remember to place it in
"C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla" when you are done editing it.

    6) For some reason, Thunderbird's new mail sound won't work properly when launched with the button: IF you are using the system default sound. To fix this:
    a) Start Thunderbird and go to "Tools" -> "Options...", then click on the "General" tab.
    b) Click on "Advanced..." and click on "Custom .wav file".
    c) Click "Browse...".
    d) Navigate to: "C:\Windows\Media\" and choose "Windows Notify.wav".
    e) OK out of all of the windows.

    7) Your Firefox and Thunderbird are now working properly with all of your previous settings!

    Cheers,
    Brian

You need to install Wireless Console 2.0.8 available here:
    http://www.asustreiber.de/download.php?view.355

Install it, restart, and your wireless buttons should be working.

    thanks brian,

i have the same problem, except it is for ie7. do you know how to fix this for ie7 as there is no profile.ini in the quivalent folder for ie7.

you mentioned that the button changed the location in which thunderbird/firefox looked for the profile. how do you configure the button and how do you know it changed the location.

    Thx alot
I was pulling hair before I found this tread.

    I own a V1J and the build-in webcam is a Syntek.
I looked the hole trough and downloaded all webcam drivers I could find.
    BINGO :D

Under the A6Rp folder I found a driver for D-Max webcams on Vista 32/64-bit.
It seems to be working perfectly.

    ftp://ftp.asus.com//pub/ASUS/nb/A6Rp/Camera_D-Max_GD-M812_Vista32_64_070208.zip

I have one thing I cannot find drivers to:
    Intel(R) 82801GBM (ICH7-M/U) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9
    What is this?

What I would do is start IE by hitting the button, and then create a bookmark. Next, right click on the bookmark in IE, and click properties. Find the path where it is saving the bookmark. This might give you a clue as to what's happening. I can't recreate the problem on my computer for whatever reason... when I set IE as the default browser and then use the button to start it, it still starts Firefox.

    Cheers,
    Brian

My driver skills tell me that it is something with the raid controller.
But I though the chipset package contained all I needed.
None of the downloads at Intel helps.

I just RE installed Vista on my W2v.

A word of caution for other W2v owners: do NOT install any of the ATK drivers, install only the minimum to get the functionality you need. Windows update will install an adequate ATK1000 driver, the rest is unnecessary and will destabilize your system.

I had a myriad of problems - computer locked up when resuming from sleep/hybernation, screen would turn off when the lid closed, and never turn back on (required restart), start up times were very long, and hcontrol would hang on the CPU at startup. It was a miserable experienced fixed only by wiping the drive and starting clean.

    I installed:
    Audio
    Latest ATI
    Toshiba Bluetooth
    Touchpad

Everything else pretty much just works without additional driver installation. I have also seen a significant increase in battery life since I reinstalled with minimum drivers.

unfortunately, not as simple for ie7. when launched from within vista, favourites are saved under the user folder. when launched from the button, favourites are saved under windows/system32 folder.

how did you reassign the button to firefox to begin with?

    thanks

You can't reassign the button manually. All it does is launch your system's default browser (mine being Firefox).

There must be some sort of profile system for Internet Explorer that we don't know about. And it must be launching out of Windows/System32 for some reason. I'm sorry I can't help any further. Maybe make a new thread about it and you will receive more responses?

Go to Asus website and in their support section you can choose vista drives for the Asus S6fm (a little different model but not much). I downloaded all drivers and have Vista working on my S6f without a problem. Everything works: powergear extreme, all function buttons, etc.

Ok, I think I finally found what was causing my W2v to lock up after resuming from sleep. It took me all day to narrow it down, but it appears to have been caused by the Synaptic touchpad driver. I've uninstalled that and haven't had it lock up once so far. This of course means that I don't have the handy little side scroll functionality, but I would rather have a computer that doesn't crash :)

Ok, apparently it's not the synaptic driver that's causing the crash - experienced it a couple more times today. It's inconsistent - sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't, so my latest theory is that it's some app (perhaps firefox) that causes the crash on resume. Will give another update if I can narrow it down to a repeatable problem.

Any ETA on when Asus will have Vista drivers on their downloads page?

I'm gonna assume no one knows, but it's worth a try.... It's nice to have some things working, but it's really annoying to have my Wi-Fi broken :(

For whatever reason, I try to turn my Wi-Fi on, and it shuts off again. I've reason some people have theirs on all the time, well, mine wont ever come on, lol.

    What model do you have?
I have a V1J and have the same problem as you.
I found that the V1Jp has some Vista drivers, same notebook just different graphics.
My point is, look at similar models.

I have 3 unkown devices but no problem running Vista 64-bit but it would be nice to have no unknown.

    I have the W3J.

Other then my Wi-Fi everything is working pretty well. I installed the drivers for the Wi-Fi from Intels website, but still nothing. I was going to install the ProSet utility from Intel to see if that would fix the problem, but alas, no Vista version. I haven't gotten around to installing the XP Pro-Set utility to see if that fixes it though.

Well, I get conflicting reports about whether it's on or not...

In Vistas Mobility Center it shows me wireless is on, but it's greyed out.

In Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> Network Map and I select Wireless it says 'Device not connected'

When I press the Asus hot key for Wi-Fi it says 'Wi-Fi on' and in the Wireless
console it shows that it's on, but then quickly disapears to the icon saying BT/Wi-Fi are off.

So, something defintely isn't right with my Wi-Fi... I'm just not sure exactly where to start....

    MOOOOO!

For the record...and those who are wondering about theirs...

I installed ALL the drivers listed on the first page (as of Feb 24) on my W2Jb with 2Gig ram and Vista Ultimate with complete success and functionality.

    :D

Only one thing I did notice, the Vista Probe doesn't have a seperate Fan Speed and Temperature tab/page like the latest XP version and only show a 'weak' summary on the summary tab.....

I've been having issues with vista business now too on my Z92T/A6T

Atk100 - Hcontrol uses a constant 50% CPU (dual core) so ahve to kill the process each boot., this is with even the latest version and with what comes through windows update.

Fn+F2 is not working at all and neither is wireless courrier2.

CPU is stuck at a constant 1.6Ghz and will not clock down to 800mhz no matter what settings are used. (with or without P4G extreme)

any help? this lappy is rather loud and battery life is half what i got under windows....

I too have a z92t notebook, I`m using vista 64 bit and have all drivers installed and working, just two minor bugs, the mouse disable/enable button doesn`t work and power4 gear does not clock down the cpu, but the grafics card is clocked down witch reduces a grate deal of heat and noise!
does some know if there is a driver for the toutchpad and is thiss behavior of power4 gear normal?

    Hi,

I am having big problems with this new Microsoft child.

I have installed vista ultimate on my A8Jm after changing the BIOS to 211 version.

Everything works fine except SOUND !!!

There is no way I can get it to work. Vista automatically recognized my sound card as Device compatible with High Definition Audio. I believe it's trying to send the signal thru digitial output cuz thats what is says in "Sound" in control panel.

When I try to install any of the drivers (AUDIO_Vista32_64_070124, Vista_R160, AUD_allOS_5324_5322_PV_Realtek, 6213_Vista_APO) it doesnt change a thing. When I try to change the driver of this High Definition Audio in device manager I am getting blue screen which doesnt let me even start vista outherwise than in safe mode.

Maybe its a matter of the order of installing the drivers???

I am really frustarted about it cuz the new system looks pretty nice and I really dont want to switch back to XP but I will have to without sound and microphone.

    PLEASE HELP !

In what order should I install the ATK stuff to get the nice vista nice looking icons for hotkeys cuz now I have only old ones - ohh and if it changes anything the hotkeys for sound dont work.

    Thanks for any possible support.

    Regards,

I still have two problems...I can't control the touchpad and the wireless from the hotkeys or from the shortcuts (fn+f2) even if I installed the drivers and the utilities that are in the first page....
    I've got an A4KA

The Audio drivers don't work on the V6J that you posted on the first page.
Anyone have a link to working audio drivers?

The sound card in the A8jm is made by SoundMax, not Realtek. Hope this works:
