Damn, why don't they run while playing WiC too...????

If they could run like a 747 while gaming, I wouldn't overheat!

We really need a BIOS that uses both sensors for the GPU and CPU for fan control, it couldn't be that hard...could it? You hear us ASUS!?

Just one fan out of the 4 and 1/4th of the heat fins are for the gpu, seems too small to me in the first place.

Agreed but I'd want the CPU fans to engage as well, it'd still draw airflow through the cage helping total cooling. It's only one fan specific for the heat pipe, but flow is what we need more imo.

OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG!!!!!

CAN YOU ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT MY OVERHEATING WAS CAUSED BY IMMATURE X64 SUPPORT????

I installed XP 32, and no more overheating. After 5 minutes continious of 3dmark with no cpu test, it was only at 88!!! Idle is 77 right now, at 513 (suppsoed to be 475, but rivatuner says 513, in both OS) and 400 on the mem.

Also, a question for XP users, is it because I haven't done the update or is it normal that when the AC is plugged, windows does not detect it as a notebook? (thus giving pretty loud fans :() At college next year they are still going to use xp pro, because the (sh*tty) technician put the network under Cisco LEAP...

EDIT: Power saving fixed installing Turbo Gear. Who said it did not work under XP O_O? (okay well, the key does not, the software works well though)

nevermind, it's back. Since I installed TG in fact.

I'm gonna let it cool and do more tests tomorrow.

JCMS I found similar problems with my new C90.. First I installed LastXP16 - which installs drivers in the setup stage of windows.. this worked fine for me till now on other computers, but it is known to cause problems. I had severe problems with my graphic card.. overheating and locking up for strange reasons..
Now I installed good old LastXP12 with no drivers and set them up later and everything works like a charm for the last day. Will test some more, but I see the temperature drop for a few degrees and I am getting a new cooling pad today, so I hope everything will be fixed now and I can start using my brand new C90!

    :D

But if you read the following post, it's back now :(.

It's like the fans changed their way of working after installing Turbo Gear. Uninstalling it didn't set them back

now the speakers don't work anymore since I plugged my headset the first time.

The FN+ speaker options keys neither

EDIT: Sound is fixed. But the FN keys & the 4 keys where turbogear one is don't work under vista x64 (i formated)

EDIT2: Fixed, I had to install Asus hotkey utility....

DAmn, it's doing me the same thing again!

When I play guild wars, fans go silent mode while playing, and as soon as i pause the game, the engine starts!!! (747 like)

EDIT: Same thing in XP 32. So it's a BIOS issue..?.

EDIT2: The thermal paste I out between the plate & the heatsink yesterday (some crappy silver grease) actually fixed things a bit I guess. Guild Wars stabilized at 99 on XP and 104 on Vista x64. I think the difference is caused by XP to have Vsync at 30.

So if I close my laptop, it goes into hibernation and then I open it, my speakers and the line in jack won't work, so basically no sound. The computer recognizes that it's playing music or whatever but I just get no sound coming out. Is this normal?

I'm getting tired of the fans really not doing anything at all...the only time they ever hit "747 plane" speed is for about 5 seconds randomly when starting up or doing something that doesn't really need the large fan speeds. Really need to have a bios that we can change the fan speeds..

you have to close an application and re open it once you plug in your headset because sound cant be switched to a new source on the fly if its already processing it to the speakers. Also just make sure you check your audio control panel and have headphone out selected as your source. (or what ever source your trying to use.)

I doesnt work, so i will try to find a driver!

EDIT: Downloaded a new driver, and everything runs fine now. The only thing thats it wierd, is that only the first sound output work, and not the second... Anyone now a solution?

Another weird thing is when i copy and paste, i have to push paste two times before it starts to copy! Anyone have a solution for this?

are you using XP or Vista? I know in XP if you search through the sound properties, look for a option called "what U hear" or something. I dunno about Vista, I'll look a little in the control panel and see if I can find it.

Probably your TV is using overscan, its common in alot of tv's you have to turn it off if it has an option or put it on "pc mode" usually that turns it off.

If your tv doesnt do that, you will have to hunt around for drivers that support overscan correction, also make sure you are using the right resolution.

Hey when I burn using DVD decrypter, even if I select MAX (because it actually shows CD-R options...) it wil burn at like 1.5-2x. I'm using Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 16x (TYGO3)

2x is really slow, and my ps2 only takes DVDs burned at 4 or 8x.

The slower the better, its just the speed in wich it spins the disk and the data transfer speed. There can be no limit on how fast a disk must be burned to read.

Some burners dont do so well and require a 1x or 2x burn so that there are absolutly no errors. Also some readers are more sensitive, still again slower = better tho.

How is this part of the c90 thread tho? lol

oh lol, I mis did my sentence, it was to know if anyone's acted like that.

I thought DVDs nice speed was 1/2 of the full speed so 4x for 8x and 8x for 16x. The fat PS2 has problems with 8 & 16x, the little one has problems with 1&2x (as my 2 dvd players, 1 &2x always make bad burn).

All I know is on my desktop (wich has a Lite on 16x), if I burned my TY -R 8x at 1 or 2x, they won't read in my ps2. I usually used 4x, never had a bad burn on 4 & 8. 2x was 100% bad burn

EDIT: think I've found it. It's because the file I'm burning is on my other computer through the WLAN lol. Nero does burn at 8x but it's as slow.

My C90S keeps disconnecting from the wireless network every few mins and the reconnects.
    Any one know why?
The drivers and all seem just fine.
I keeps saying "attempting to authenticate" and then connects back.

Hey guys, SERIOUS issue, maybe the worst I've seen on this laptop yet.

Remember when I said the fans get full speed when I alt-tab a non cpu intensive game?

When I play guild wars, the cpu stays at 62-63, AS SOON AS I ALT-TAB, IT GETS TO 72!!!!! WTF?????? I'm not joking, I have GW alt-tabbed for 5 minutes, fans running really loud and temp is still at 71. VGA temp is now 67

I'm in gaming mode by the way.

It's like CPU is still at a 6x multiplier then it gets full speed once I return to windows. I'll try to desactivate the cpu speed control by OS in the bios later...

I know, the E4500 safe temp is 73.3.

But why does it gets hot when I'm NOT playing and it cools down while playing >-<

I put an ice pack under the fans, 74 idle FTW

I have cooler temps when under a heavy load because the fans kick on, at a low load its just under the temp level for the fans to really come on and thus is hotter.

Hmm what im thinking is that when u are on alt tabbed out, game is still running in bg, but the cpu focus task on what you are doing, gw is a mmorpg, so it really uses a lot of cpu power to keep the game on o_O not 100% sure tho, cuz for some mmorpgs like Silkroad, my desktop do the same, if i alt tab out o.o but for some it doest

It does not use a lot of cpu power of a 2006 CPU :), maybe a pentium 4 2.4

EDIT: I removed the battery, idle of my GPU is running at 78.

Idle with battery only is usually 80 and with both it's 83 or 85

Also, for whatever reasons, the turboengine & the "powered by Asus " logo does not get hot under battery mode. The logo is untoucheable with AC on

Well my DC input just broke, or at least, the power cord needs to be fiddled with in the jack to get a connection. So now i'm looking at desoldering the jack and either replacing it or trying to fix it (possible?). Anyone have any experience in this area on the C90 or am I the first with this problem?
