I would hope it solves the issue of the godamn audio not switching to the tv half the time when you plug it in through hdmi. Does anyone else have the problem? It forces you to go to the audio/playback device menu before it finally decides to switch.

I wonder why the size of the new driver is ~40 MB larger than the previous revision.

    no. works fine for me.

you don't even need to use the audio drivers.
the built-in windows ones are sufficient.

In Windows playback devices menu, I set hdmi audio as "default device".
it automatically switches to hdmi audio when hdmi is connected.

My only "problem" is that the left laptop speaker seems to sound way better than the right speaker.
    anyone else observe this?
When I use Winamp, and push the slider all the way left or right, the speakers sound different. The right speaker sounds crappy.

On mine I can't set it as default. Sometimes it switches automatically, but more often than not it just doesn't for some reason. It's pretty annoying when I'm frequently hooking it up to the TV.

do you guys have realtek audio bloatware drivers installed ?

    i don't.

i don't have the asus audio control software installed either.
i have no issues auto switching to hdmi sound

maybe it will solve your problem if you uninstall and delete the driver.
In the past, on other pc's, i've noticed that realtek drivers bug out frequently. It probably interferes with your ability to switch to hdmi audio.

Anybody who has gotten K10Stat to startup with task scheduler help me out. I've messed with this thing for way to long trying to get it to work. Followed the guides word for word and This thing is still not working.

I'm assuming I might be messing up with somewhere with the K10Stat.dat file.
I changed the "optional" line so it uses the K10stat.dat that's already in my folder. Even threw one with my settings in the System32 folder in case that didn't work right.

Still not getting anything from it though. Gave up on the stupid thing for a long time since I wasn't getting anywhere with it. Always keep having to launch the program manually and load my settings.

A quick Google shows that to be a new 30nm Samsung low voltage memory module. Saturday I will pull it out and verify but could that explain the timings? I couldn't find any info on the timings by searching but they claim it runs at lower more efficient voltages. Do some/many/ all of you have this memory? I realize that in real world it all may not matter but some seem to infer it does.

First, thanks to those who pointed out I was reading the timings at half speed, they indeed are 9-9-9-24@667
Confirmed it is the Samsung green memory. But in the Samsung release they say it runs at 1.3 volts and it shows running at 1.5 in CPUID. And this memory was shown in a picture of the ram in an early post in this thread so I guess it is not unusual.

Thanks. I tried rolling back the driver to the same default windows one you have (realtek was there before). Now it seems to switch to hdmi audio without hiccups, but I can no longer add the audio button to the taskbar fopr easy access to the audio options. I'm going to download the latest audio drivers from Asus (realtek...) and see if that makes things better.

Here is my K10Stat Task from task scheduler if that helps.
    View attachment K10STAT.zip

I think you need to import into task scheduler and change the user to yours.

Also make sure k10stat is installed inside "C:\Program Files\K10STAT" and copy your settings to that directory.

Also this is set to load the first profile on start up so if you need to change that then go into the arguments and change the "-lp:1" to which ever profile you want to load.

audio button in the system tray you mean ?

all of the options can be accessed by right clicking the audio icon in the system tray.

to make the audio icon show, you right click system tray> properties> turn system icons on/off.

if you want to create a shortcut to pin to taskbar, refer to this page-

Yea, system tray. After rolling back the driver and restarting it wasn't letting me do anything with the volume button options for the system tray. Curiously, the battery icon options did the same thing, inaccessible. I updated to the latest drivers and everything seems to be working as it should.

right click anywhere in the system tray > Properties, and it will let you choose which icons to turn on and off.

your options are grayed out ?

    LOADING K10STAT SETTINGS AT STARTUP

This will load your K10 Settings at startup without any sort of popup window or manual activation

Make a shortcut of the executable file K10Stat.exe
Right click the shortcut file and go to Properties
Tab to Shortcut, and under the Target: add the following text to the end of the command.... highlighted in blue

    "C:\My Docs\My Stuff\PC\K10STAT\K10STAT.exe" -loadpstate -nowindow

Now drag this shortcut to your Startup Folder under the Start Menu

This will load your settings at startup, but make sure your K10 settings are stable before you do this... restart computer to test

    Hope that works for you...

PS Not sure what you were doing before but you might need a fresh install of K10stat to get things working again in your case.... GOOD LUCK

Thanks for the help and from the others as well. I compared yours with mine to figure out what I was doing wrong. In the arguments section for loading the the profile I had -lp:#2 instead of just -lp:2. Also had it that way for the clock control setting.

Got it to load the profile on startup. Now just trying to figure out why it's not starting minimized. Not a big problem but would rather it start and stay minimized to tray than be hidden in case I need to change the profile.

You might need to add these arguments to make it show up in the system tray minimized.

"-StayOnTray" <-- Show in system tray

"-nw" <-- Show no window on start up

Alright dammit. I had my first official hardware issue. I kind of might have dropped my K53TA a short distance and now the shift keys also hit an additional function (* and <). This is caused by the keyboard connection coming loose. Easy fix if you know how, but still, means the connection was located so that it could easily come loose. Probably has to do with the dual-sided motherboard design.

My K53TA is officially a desktop replacement right now as it's on my desk with a USB keyboard. When I get a chance to open it up, I'll probably tape the connection down when I fix it.

Battlefield 3 runs crappy for me on either 8.861 drivers or the 11.10 previews...on medium settings with crossfire enabled.

I thought people here had it running pretty good?

Thanks for tip on Brothers in Arms profile. May give that a go.

And when I saw your sig "The most realistic hunting game you will ever play" I thought it was going to be a link to Angry Birds.

edit: just tried it. Problem is that bf3.exe launches battlelog. How do you assign that profile to the actual game BF3?

I apply the profile once the game is running thehunter also works the same way due to having to launch it from the website. I simply tab out, apply the settings to the BF3.exe and bring the game back up.

Hmm, how do I know it's active? I set FPS counter to on, but I don't see it in game. And no noticeable difference with profile on or off.

I basically added the bf3.exe file in RadeonPro and turned off auto-detect. Started the game. Alt tabbed out, then right clicked and apply profile. But still no fps or anything else to indicate it's working.

The mystery of this laptop continues.

Friend of mine bought the 600$ a53 model from newegg, got it, and found out they sent him one with an a4 instead of an a6. Turns out its a model you can only find on russian sites. Now newegg no longer lists the a53 or k53 with an a6 or a4 at all...

So, you disable auto-detect, launch bf3 from origin, start a bf3 game, alt-tab out of the game, then turn on auto-detect, then apply the profile?

I don't notice any improvement. Just wish there was an indicator to show it was working or not. It won't display FPS even though I have it selected, and bound a function key to toggle it on / off.

LOL. $800-$1000 is a crime. They're not worth that. You can get the HP DV6z for < $800 with better CPU and GPU and screen, lol. Heck my system cost < $700 with A8-3510MX, 6750m GPU, 1080p matte screen.

So stupid. They see it as a hot seller, so expect people to just buy it because they want it. Just a few minutes of web searching and you can find better deals.

$450 was a bit on the cheap side, but honestly, $550-$600 is probably the best they could have done.

Just going to throw this out there, but I've been using a batch file to manually switch between my k10stat profiles. Sadly, I don't know how to get around having to right click and select "Run as Administrator", but here it is.

Save it as a .bat in notepad. Replace "C:\Users\Daniel\Utilities\K10Stat" with whatever directory you have k10stat.exe installed into. Switch up the profiles by changing "-lp:1". Pretty easy.

Coupled with k10stat loading at startup through task scheduler, it's pretty convenient.

My initial performance increase may have been psychosomatic  as I was only able to get into a server a couple of times to test it on BF3. Last night after editing the registry trick to stop the continuous "joining server" I was getting, I tested it a bit more.

I am really not sure at this time if it works as it does on theHunter or not, sorry for the rush into my first conclusion. I also can not get the fps counter to run, currently I am using the on display in afterburner.

But with all that said running the game BF3 on high settings is giving good play-ability.

BF3 servers suck , one game it will run smooth, the next all choppy... very inconsistent gaming from DICE at this time... And based off initial game play I'm not all that impressed with it, prob going to go with MW3 instead

Just keep in mind that this is EARLY beta code, EA stated over a month old from date of Beta start. They just wanted to test the servers back end with all the users playing, not the gameplay or game mechanics themselves. Otherwise there would have been daily updates, as in most other betas.

I almost thought GRAW was too unforgiving though. It was ruthless. But kind of reminded me of the old Operation Flashpoint days. That was the best game ever and haven't really found a game that captured that same atmosphere. The single player campaign was excellent (both of them) and multiplayer was a blast.
