My K43TA using SSD Crucial M4 SATA3 (spec 510 MB/sec insert in my desktop run full speed)
but in K43TA read speed = 265MB/sec (SATA2)
A70M and A68M are support SATA3
but K43TA is SATA2 ?

one is i5 with GForce 540 vga and the other is AMD A6 with AMD VGA
and I need your help to know which is better For gaming ?
because I confused to chose between Asus k53ta and Lenovo ideapad z570.
z570 has i5 and 540gt like your MSI i5 laptop.
your opinion really will help me, thank you in advance. -
The GT 540M scores 8800 in 3DMark06 and is very easy to overclock. I was able to get my GT540 to score 10,000 3DMark06 points after overclocking.
It really depends on the games you play, either laptop can run Call Of Duty on max settings(1366x768). -
spec and price same K53TA but it's 14" -
Finally got this to overclock, runs solid at 2.2 thanks for all the help in this thread.
I'm prob going to get 4 more gigs of ram in here eventually as well - to the people that have does it significantly improve performance?
Has anyone run mdw3 on this?
Now, only if the res/screen was better... I still feel like I see banding on the loading screen and darker images. It's weird, its harder to play some games like hon on a laptop because the res is smaller and you can't click ahead.
Also, to the person who posted,
HP - Pavilion Laptop / AMD A-Series Processor / 14" Display / 4GB Memory / 320GB Hard Drive - Pewter - g4-1215dx
thanks that's a great deal (you can also get the $150 touchpad) and I'm recommending that comp to a friend. -
ing SIIIIIIGH.
Okay, to answer future questions, this rig will not run skyrim. I was reccomended to High graphics, the dedicated alone should've done medium, but no. Even with the CPU OC in the OP, it runs about as ty as Witcher 2, if not more... I can run witcher 2 on poor graphics with AA, not at all with Skryrim.. So, if you want Skyrim and have this game... get it for console.. ugh. -
That's the laptop I've been wondering about.
when you right click the desktop, or go to the catalyst control panel, you don't have a switchable graphics option?
download amd system monitor and see which graphics chip your games run from -
I need to try some higher game settings later, but otherwise this laptop plays skyrim very comfortably in good detail. Game is gorgeous. Noticed temps topped out around 69C for me. -
This thing runs so cool when you undervolt it its weirding me out.
Few questions:
Should I create two different profiles for casual/gaming, or can i just have one profile on k10stat where the max is 2.2 and I just lock that in if gaming? Right now my lowest state is p6 at 800 mhz at .8 volts, and on the unlocked pstate setting it rarely ever moves from there.
Anyone try running mdw3?
Are there significant benefits to 8gb ram?
When i monitor my processor speeds on coretemp while running assessments, sometimes one/two of the cores is not at max (2.2ghz) while the other two are--is that normal or should i just lock when running assessments? -
oh, and btw, what do you mean by this being the laptop you were wondering about?Attached Files:

I was wondering how the A4 non-xfire k53ta handles openGL games like Rage.
Does it switch to the 6650m ?
The A6 crossfire cannot run Rage with the 6650m card.
Maybe you can get a hold of Rage somehow, or some older openGL games, and run AMD system monitor to see if the game runs on the 6650m.
Based on your picture, it looks like your graphics cards are functioning fine.
the higher red line is the 6650m.
During the game, the 6650m has a huge peak in usage. When you quit a game, it goes down to 0, which means the graphics card is turned off.
That is completely normal.
maybe your games run like crap because your settings are too high.
this is not a very powerful gfx card -

dude, you should read all of my posts here. I am posting because 6650 does not switch on for ANYTHING. the higher red line is 6480g, if you pay attention to it you'll see. it is the primary and the only functioning adapter in my laptop, and I can't figure out why. and no, I don't stress the laptop in games, assassins creed runs like crap even in lowest settings.
anyway, thanks for your attenstion. oh, and the asus customer service is still silent to my mail(s), not hoping much from them though. -

you should look at your screenshot again.
Here, I'll post it again, with the lines marked.
The darker red line shaped like a mountain is the 6650m activity while you're playing the game.
the lighter red line is your integrated graphics.
your 6650m DOES turn on.Attached Files:

Turn off crossfire though. It is really crappy implementation for most games.

but.. while the laptop does play the game well, I find myself yearning for some larger textures, no'mean. This top will really prove it's worth when someone releases a good texture pack. -
guys, seriosly, didn't you get at least a bit suspicious about the screenshot showing 6650 having 0 mhz out of 0 mhz? it is not switched off, it's malfunctional, and a little graph can't change that.trust me, i have just played in windowed mode and can verify that this is the case. no to for screenshots though, got to go to my ing saturday lecture.
oh, and european model doesn't have crossfire, htwingnut. -

how do I have to explain it so that you'll understand that when the 6650m is not in use, it is turned off to save power ?...
when it's 0/0, it means it's turned off.
The squiggly line in your screenshot, which I circled in my last post, means the 6650m was in use.... up until you quit your game.
You still refuse to believe that it works.
Trust me. set your game to High Performance in Catalyst. hit ALT-TAB while you are gaming, and look at the system monitor. You'll see the "6750m" active.
Look at my system monitor below- see ? the 6650m is at 0% when I'm not gaming. It's turned off.Attached Files:

dude, you are obviously not reading what I am saying. the mhz count doesn't go up when I am playing, so obviously that chart for 6650 is a bug. the upper chart is for 6480(which is identical to the supposed 6650 one). and I might also add that I don't have crossfire(literally. the european models doesn't have it), so both of them working at the same time is imbossible. obviously the software has put the 6480 graph for 6650 too by mistake. in either case, this laptop does't function like one that has an 6650 in it(too slow, like I said), so that's proof enough. is there any other case of a 6650 having 18 fps average on low settings in assassins creed? no. there you go.

Hi Guys I was wondering if anyone has an optimal K10stat profile? I tried using the one WIngnut posted which was working ok but now I'm getting BSOD's. I can't find the profile on this thread that I used initially it seems to have been taken down for some reason.
Edit: Never mind. I bumped up the voltage to 1.087 and it seemed to have worked for now. -
Do any of you have trouble coming out of sleep when using k10 stat profiles?

FWIW, no issues on my end. I have K10STAT running at startup with my default overclock/undervolt profile. I lock in clock frequencies as I need them for gaming or whatever, then unlock for most everything else. -
If it is locking up then you most likely have one of your voltages too low. It's a PITA to find the best voltage, and can take a while to find the culprit, but once you get everything locked in you shouldn't have to touch a thing. Just let the P-states work based on CPU load, and voltages help on battery at lower power states.
-
Hmm thanks for the advice, my voltage may be too low because on my undervolt profile I rune 800 at .8 volts.
-
I was wondering if there is any performance difference from using the official ASUS video drivers and the ones from AMD? At the moment OCing the computer and putting the settings on medium gives me playable framerates. I can't really tell but it seems to be at least around 30-35fps. Can't tell if it's lag or the GPU struggling sometimes but it does get choppy sometimes.

saturnotaku said: ↑You don't mention what game, but in most cases, you can resolve choppy performance by disabling Crossfire in the driver control panel. If you're playing something that came out recently, eg Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, you should upgrade to the newest drivers. I don't own any of the games I just mentioned, but the current 11.10 video drivers are working well on my machine. When you install them, uninstall the video portion of the default Asus drivers. Go into control panel, programs and features and select the AMD Catalyst Install Manager, select Change, then the Choose individual AMD software components to uninstall. Select Custom from the Catalyst Install Manager, then pick only the Display Driver and VISION Engine Control Center from the list. The other components are for the chipset that were installed from the Asus set and are not included on the drivers you download from AMD. Let the installer do its thing, reboot, run the install for the new drivers, reboot again, and you should be good to go.Click to expand...

Been a while since I've posted. Not much to discuss when everything is working perfectly and too many games to play. Case in point, Skyrim settings:
CF off, make sure to set TES5.exe to high performance, not just Skyrimlauncher.exe
AA=4X
AF=4X
Detail high, with Textures to high and shadows and blur to low.
(you can also set FXAA to on and AA down to 2x for slightly higher frame cost and better aliasing)
Usual ideal OC settings, 2.2 all Ps, 2.3 b0.
30-60fps -

Just wanted to pop back in here to remind everyone who owns this notebook and all its derivatives (A53, A43, etc) to send a message to Asus tech support asking for a BIOS update to allow manual graphic switching (aka fixed-mode graphics) for models that have the discreet Radeon GPU in them. Be polite but firm, making sure to remind them that their rivals, HP and Dell, have provided this update to their customers.
Be sure to have your system serial number and date of purchase available to fill out the e-mail support form. Even if the lack of fixed-mode graphics doesn't bother you, please e-mail them anyway and pretend that it does. The more people we can get to bring this to Asus' attention, the more likely they'll be to take it seriously.

Can anyone with this K43TA posting their HWMonitor screenshot? I wanted to see harddisk temperature. My last laptop with ASUS, the A42/K42 roasted the harddrive to beyond 50C at load and idles at 40-45C so I immediately sell it off to prevent damage to it, so I wonder if that problem being fixed on new A43/K43 chasis

There are quite a few updates on the driver download page in case anyone missed that. Chipset has not been updated. Wondering if I should just uninstall the chipset graphics driver and use the one provided by AMD.
