i am also getting the same thing. if you check the benchmark in passmark or any other software then you will know that your cpu has been overclocked sucessfully. its showing this way coz its not an unlocked processor, but still we can overclock it. just check the multiplier in cpu-z if that is changed to 20x then your processor is running at 2000mhz speed.

so the asus 120w adapter works after all ??

there's a bug in k10stat. reset it to default, and start over.
    then use hwinfo64. not cpuz.

weaker rubbing alcohol is just fine. just make sure it's fully dry. Use hair dryer.

So i've decided to change my 5400rpm HDD with a 7200rpm hdd. Can you guys recommend me something? The storage size can start from 320GB - 640GB.

Also should i consider buying a SSD install it in the optical drive just for the OS to be installed and several other usual software which i use? If so, what do i need to know? I mean, i need to upgrade BIOS, install aditional software or just buy the SSD a rack and plug-play?

I was thinking about this one : Intel Solid State Drive (SSD) 330 Series, 60GB, SATA 3, 2.5''

    Thanks

Ok, so I finally got my k53ta up and running, but a few miner bugs and questions I still need answering.
My system setup for right now is stock everything except the extra memory (8g) and the hhd was replaced for a patriot 120g SSD. I do not have any cooling mods and have not re pasted the cpu / gpu. I’m running the 12.4 cata with the 12.2 driver as suggested by link(very thankful for every comment that guys makes really. Not to mention all the other helpful posters). I upgraded the firmware to 214 with the sata III 6g and the fixed mode. I also have my laptop in fixed mode currently. I use the pscheck to overclock undervolt my laptop and I used the 2.1 values from here.

    Slickdeals.net - View Single Post - RETIRED: ASUS K53TA-BBR6 Laptop: AMD Quad-Core A6-3400M 1.4GHz APU, 15.6" LED, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6650, HDMI, WiFi-N, 6-cell, Win 7 Prem 64-bit

This setup gives me a smooth play in wow locked at 60FPS world, haven’t tried pvp yet. Windows rating of 6.6, 7.3, 6.8, 6.8, 7.9.

I do have a few question if you guys could please help me out.
    1) Is this rating about what everyone else is getting?

    2) In pscheck my processors look like there pinned at p0 and pb0, according to HwINFO my cores are always at 2.3ghz, what is causing this?

    3) Is overclocking to 2.1ghz 2.3ghz boost safe with a stock no cooling mod no re pasted cpu?

    4) Is the setup better in fixed mode or should I put it back to dynamic mode?

    5) Has anyone heard of patriot SSD problems or going bad for some reason?

Also would love to do some benchmark testing with this clean setup before i bog it down to much if anyone can give me some programs names i will benchamark for anyone who would like that kind of stuff

    about the same
    2) In pscheck my processors look like there pinned at p0 and pb0, according to HwINFO my cores are always at 2.3ghz, what is causing this?
windows clock control tend to be more aggressive , try to get complete idle and see if it drop down to p6.
    3) Is overclocking to 2.1ghz 2.3ghz boost safe with a stock no cooling mod no re pasted cpu?
2.2 seem to be the sweetspot, 2.4 should be fine, but 2.4 may crash a 60W PSU.(Drop back to battery mode, it doesnt kill the PSU)
    4) Is the setup better in fixed mode or should I put it back to dynamic mode?
varies from game, driver, user. Try it out.
    5) Has anyone heard of patriot SSD problems or going bad for some reason?
    Not really, should be fine.

Even with nothing running 10mins after I've started my PC HwINFO shows that my clocks are all at 2.3ghz which is my boost...
When i start up wow my cores do go down though... and then will fluctuate there.

Or if you could pos what values you use and how you got your pscheck working i may have messed something up?

sticking at 2.3ghz during idle is normal behavior for this cpu, assuming you have it set in high performance power options mode. If you set Power saving power option, it would clock down to lowest p-state.

boost doesn't work under heavy loads. that's why you see it clock down.
that is how it is designed.

you can set boost, and it will use it for a split second in light loads only.

if your room temp is over 75 F, holding it at 2.3 is probably too hot.

you will have to use hwinfo64 sensors and see what temps you hit. Everyone's is different.

I get boost to 2.1 and my regular speed top to 2.0 with stock laptop no cooling mod no paste... how is that?

running wow it seems that dynamic mode is better by like 4 or 5 fps does that seem correct too you guys? im using the 214 sata III 6g w/ fixed mode enabled.

Is the 214 with the force integrated graphics with 1gb better for dynamic mode?

dynamic mode still uses the 6650m. Doesn't matter how much memory is given to the igp.

feels like 5fps better? or did you base it on fraps....

    Got the keyboard!!!!!!

it works & I love it..

just one prob -the ribbon for it is in a bad spot, so I'm going to need to extend the cable or something =S I'm currently typing with it loose, since I can't clip it down with the ribbon or it will most likely tear.

It fits great too. Just need to cut off that one extra clip on the left side of the bottom for the space bar to function.

Nice to hear it worked! :) I'll consider this 'keyboard mod' if I ever accidentally break the original keyboard (since I'm ok with the original kb). It sounded like a bit of a hassle clipping it down with the ribbon, but really glad you made it work. :D

I set my WoW charter to view in the same direction and just left him there with ultra setting... but when i did it again this mornning it seem to be the same fps...

is there a better way to test and get better results i'd love to do that and maybe it might help others out to see my results?

I might be selling mine & switching to this:

    Samsung NP305E7A-A02US Laptop X4 1.5GHz 4GB 500GB DVDRW - CowBoom.com

I already have one of these Sammy's from last week to this week when they were only $230...

Loving the matte screen. Just need to see if it'll run like this! I can do without USB 3.0 for the extra screen size for photo & video editing.... Would also sell my 18.5 ASUS external monitor than too.

Just need to see what this Sammy can do.. it arrived yesterday.

Anyway, I'll list the ASUS here & there & everywhere if that's what happens. It would be sold with both keyboards & maybe with / without an HDD bc I love using my old HDDs for storage. Would also send the bluetooth wifi card once it gets here from Hong Kong. Would also come with the optical bay caddy.

But, IDK yet, have to play with the Sammy first!

EDIT: Definitely need to check for SATA 6gbps before anything else LOL

definitely a downgrade if you're a gamer. But if you don't play games much and you only paid $200, I don't blame you. You could get by with that for another year or 2 and then get an unthinkable beast of a graphics machine for under $500 in the year 2014. PCs just keep getting better and better tempting us to upgrade every year.

Yeah.. I play games..... gonna evaluate it myself though vs looking at benchmarks..

Putting the second SSD in there so I can do them both vs each other..

    ASUS has 8gb
    Samsung has 8gb

    both have SSDs now.....

Just need to install Windows & Sammy drivers & then a few games......

Otherwise, are there any good 17" with the same graphics capability that we're rocking or better for less than say.... $400??

    Used/refurb is fine.

actually before I do anything... wondering why my second M4 isn't showing as a drive but it's detected in BIOS & also by CrystalDiskInfo.....

    maybe it needs a format??

EDIT: figured it out.. Had to partition it first..

this sounds weird, but I get better read / write in the optical bay..

    Ok...

Sammy does not run at 6gbps... but it didn't have as bad WEI numbers as I expected.

    ASUS WEI :
    6.6, 7.3, 6.1, 6.1, 7.7
    Sammy WEI:
    6.7, 7.3, 5.8, 6.5, 7.8

    Interesting to say the least...

Need to find a way to get 6gbps before I test gaming.. but I doubt I'll find anything. Gonna try updating the bios to w/e is avail.

you already have the same 6520g in the asus.

you're not going to get better results from the samsung.

According to page 1, we're the 6720g2 with the cards in crossfire.. & without them in crossfire, we have 1gb dedicated..

the sammy only has 512 dedicated, but can obviously pull it's weight around..

but anyway, looks like i'm sticking with this until i find a 17 that can do the job with full sata III 6gbps speeds, since the sammy couldn't do that.

the Samsung don't have dedicated, it is a dedicated class iGPU which should be the same thing as the ASUS in power saving graphic

There was some dv7 with 6750m refurb around 400ish, try ebay.

For dv7, you can just snag in a high gamut 1080p screen right away for ~$100.

I just saw the 6165us for 495+tax on cowboom?

    Also 515 on ebay

    is where I caught it

just trying to figure out if ppl are having the same prob with the card that we had at first..

there's only like 3 youtubers with videos on that laptop & they're all idiots!!!

I found out that it runs 6755G2 in Crossfire.. which is better than our's obviously.

I would hate for that laptop not to run at 6gbps though LOL.. need to find out!

    tons of reviews here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0055N8HC0/?tag=otherelectronics-20

but no word of sata performance anywhere online =(

    Asus G74SX-1ATZ 17.3in Laptop i7 2GHz 8GB 750GB DVDRW - CowBoom Auction - Ends 6/27/12 7:00:00 PM CDT

can't find good specs on that submodel though!!

must be a typo on the model.. anyway, ... just gonna stick with this current ASUS for now.. I don't wanna lug a 10 pounder back to college LOL, nor do I want to spend $300 more after selling this one.... would rather build another gaming desktop, but this current laptop plays everything I want for now.. so that's that.. BEDTIME!

If you're looking for an upgrade try this one:

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/829664-REG/Acer_LX_RNA02_008_Aspire_7750_AS7750_6458_17_3.html

There isn't going to be anything comparable in terms of price or performance right now.

I just bought them for my wife and me. So far this thing destroys my Asus even when the Asus was at a high OC. I know its not a gauge of performance but WEI is: cpu 7.0, ram 7.4, both graphics 6.9, storage 6.7

6.7 for ssd because drive is sata2

Not that it's necessary but I'm considering selling the i5 on eBay and upgrading to an i7-2670QM with like $20 out of pocket.

That's a nice laptop with a 2nd gen Intel cpu. The 6850M gpu is on par with Nvidia's gt 555, so a very good price for a powerful high 2nd class graphics. The only other alternatives in the same price range ($500-590) are Lenovo refurbs with i5 gt 555 combinations, but those are difficult to find since they show up at random times of the year. Intel+Nvidia combo will always be better due to AMD slower cpu & ATI radeon's shoddy drivers.

lenovo use gimped 555, so this one probably is better, but B&H may need +tax.

Yeah what you said. This is probably better than the lenovo with a 555.

BH didn't require tax as i'm out of state from where they're located, and with free shipping i got it two days later.

I read the "deal" sites every day and i haven't seen anything comparable to this pop up for sale in a long time. This wasn't even on a deal site i just happened across it when i was researching the 7750G line of laptops since we use a ton of Acer laptops at work.

You have to disable vertical sync to unlock the 60 fps (60fps = frame rate of lcd of 60Hz) You'll get around 100fps

deal site only look at a laptop and say i7 +8gb 400 = good deal. Mobile gpu is kind of niche? compare to desktop.

That's not really true, dealnews and slickdeals post what people give them. From super cheap crappy laptops to super high end.

consider most comment in slickdeals on a amd laptop thread is "How is this compare to a i3" or "this is on a b940 level".

There was nothing on slickdeals when people getting m14x for 500-600/m17x for 1.2k via military discount.

They do have wild range of good deal on there, but sometimes they do miss.

Does anyone know what might be the best way to sell some hard drives? I have a few extra laptop HDDs laying around, they're on craigslist but there has to be a better way.
