So to have my USB 3.0 I have to:
    Uninstall my 12.7 drivers
Reinstall ASUS AMD chipset driver but there are two of them, both to install?

    1. Version V8.903.0.0000 AMD Chipset Driver File Size 178,12 ( MBytes) 2011.12.29
    2. Version V1.2.1.321 AMD Chipset Driver File Size 258,15 ( KBytes) 2011.12.29

    and then install 12.7 over.
    Am I right?

My hard drive was this issue but it was my fault for listening to someone about speeding up a game xD can multiple of you tell me what number you have for this area...

    Go to:
Start>*right click on "Computer" and select properties">Advanced System Settings>Settings (under performance)>Advanced

And then tell me the number next to this:
Total paging file size for all drives:

I changed it due to listening to the wrong people a long time ago and I'm sure this screwed with things but I'm not sure what I had to begin with. Can you all help me out :)

Just download chipset driver and do a CUSTOM install and select the ones you don't already have (which it should automatically ONLY select those) and install those and usb 3.0 should work. that's how it worked for me when i forgot :)

Hey guys, quick question. I have my processor overclocked to 2.8 and 1.2v While playing a game my temp got up to but never past 84c. Is that an ok temp? My laptop is the K53TA btw. Thanks in advance.

Everyone's computer is different in terms of paging file size. When you have 8gb ram, there's really no wrong way to do it.
By default, Windows will usually automatically size pagefile, or set it to 1x-1.5x ram size.

I have 8gb ram like you do, so i set minimal pagefile. I set 25mb on C:, and run 1.5gb pagefile on ramdisk off of memory, since I never use all of my ram.

I don't have any big pagefiles on the hard drive itself. I don't like disk thrashing with pagefiles.

This doesn't seem to make sense to me. The pagefile is used to swap programs out of memory to make room for other programs. By putting the page file in memory, you increase memory pressure and increase swapping, forcing the OS to use the very page file in RAM you created, while just removing it would take away the need to use it.

i would use no pf if i could, but some stupid programs require a pf.
a few games i've played in the past required pf.

and some programs use a pf even if you have a buttload of ram, which results in a lot of disk swapping.

so how do i juggle all this? I put the pf on the ram so that games are happy, and for the programs that use the pf anyway (despite having 8gb of ram), there won't be a bunch of disk thrashing.
The ram can handle the pressure better than the hdd can.
yeah, i know it eats up useful ram, but it's the best compromise for me.

for the dude above, with 8gb ram, you can just turn off paging files until you run into problems.

    It says AU optronics

    AUO B156XW02 V6

It seems glossier than the original one. Not in a bad way, it's just strange that it is LOL. If I touch it it feels more like glass. The original one felt more matte/plastic

so it looks like there is absolutely no whitelist on this laptop, as long as they are not 10bit panels.

last year, for sure, this came with LG, samsung, chimei lcd panels.

    now AUO is compatible too.

so anyone looking to upgrade to 1080p can even choose 95% gamut AUO panels.

I am going to at some point. I am going to suffer with this one for a little longer. I am going to be putting the hole in the bottom to get my temps down more as well as repaste it. I am at around 75 under full load currently.

typically there should be no white list for screen since they dun have feedback. As long as the connector is in the same place/pin config , it should be fine.

hey guys... A6-4400ml .. you guess we can swap that? It would be an AWESOME upgrade :D It's the same socket mobile-trinity-apu-compatible-mobile-liano and it's the same TDP of 35W. Maybe a temperature problem as ours is boost @ 2.3ghz and the second one boost @ 3.2ghz ?

At the end of the thread you posted it says that it doesn't work that way. I am not going to spend the money on one to see if it will work after someone has tried. I know it was a different notebook but still.

that would be the worst 'upgrade' you could EVER make, not to mention that it is not possible and incompatible.

you're downgrading to dual core, and you cannot overclock the 4400 when you do need the power. Yes, AMD does not allow overclocking in the trinity chips.

the quad A8-4500 trinity is already slower than our A6. the 4400 is even worse.

I installed the bios 212 and then the bios 212 mod both using winflash, but remains as before with no new options.
Anyone have any idea why this happens?

I figured while i got things open why not repaste. I have the screen I do not have the lvds cable ups is showing one more business day... for two days now.

On another note i have only one screw holding my motherboard down... is this strange?
Have you heard of the cooling mod people have done do you think maybe i should do that while I’m here?

call ups and ask them what's up. In the tracking details, it would say 'out for delivery'.

it's been almost a year since i last disassembled this laptop. I don't remember how many screws I had on the mobo. You will have to see if it looks like any screws are missing.

I would recommend against any cooling mods. If you insist on repasting, that should be the limit.
however, if you have no temperature issues, just leave it alone.

which brand lcd panel did they send you?

    Hi people,

I have a question. Does Bios mod 212 a secret menu or something that allows you to see other settings? Because I have just installed it and don`t see any differences with the original 212.

I'll be grateful for any response.

i ordered the g53sw screen 1920 x 1080(model number b156hw01 v5) by AU Optronics and got the k73 cable you linked. i was able to find the screen fairly cheap on ebay and they have another one right now

Asus G53S LTN156HT01 15.6" Full HD LED Matte LCD Screen Laptop Original TESTED | eBay

this one is Matte i went with a gloss. i figure i fear the sun regardless :D Which i really wonder what would look better though?

I went and repasted as well i figured while i am there ill check it out and see what they did...

I'm not the pro but i'm not sure if this is correct. I put a very small dot on the gpu and a tiny dot on the cpu of artic 5... what do you think?

I'm video taping the mod as i do it i hope it can be useful to someone. I really greatly appreciate everyone post here and link you have been great, thank you.

With the modded bios i have it doesnt give options in bios or anything like this. It just does it. unless its about the dgpu. in that case it just allows the cata program to put the computer into that state. so no new menu's mate.

So why not do the cooling mod? Any issues in the sea of posts on here? It would seem to allow a nice overclock and won't be that hard to do with a steady hand.

that repaste is a little sloppy, but will suffice.

You bought a used lcd panel?
    hopefully it's functional.
I would be surprised if UPS didn't deliver your cable today.

No issues, however you shouldn't go crazy and cut holes in the fan enclosure like 1 or 2 people did here.

drilling rows of small holes in the bottom case directly under the fan is fine. I did that with my last laptop, and you don't have to buy a mesh grille that way.
Also, you preserve the case rigidity that way

the pea method sometimes doesn't cover the whole surface if you put too little.

anyway, I just found a picture of the lvds cable from the K73e, and it looks like the wrong part.

It looks like the only way to get 1080p is to use the G53 lvds cable. That one has the same motherboard connector, but it does not have a connector for the webcam.

parts are hard to get for this laptop

I see what you are saying. That is a better idea over all. I may end up doing that. It might end up looking a little better as well. Now to find a dremel bit that will be small enought for the holes. I will have to work that out later.

Thank you very much for your answer!

I understand that installing the bios mod 212,will appear options in BIOS to disable the crossfire, and activate/deactivate each gpu.
Because by default I have crossfire enabled and the drivers do not work. Activating them or turning them off from windows (administrator-device) problems persist. Im sure one of the gpu is broken.

I have no idea how to disable the gpu using the bios mod 212 because I dont see any changes.

    Thanks again!

More directly, you will NOT see any changes in BIOS.

If you are running a mod 212 verison u maybe be able to turn on fixed mode or dynamic mode through the cata manager.

not sure if g73 cable is the same as g53.

g53 has been proven to work, as Odugeek did it.

the only g53 series cables I have seen are being sold from europe.

Since we are all on the subject of cooling mods for this laptop, here are mine...

60 degrees Celsius after the case mod and re-paste with MX-4.

I have two things left and that is a HDD bay in the dvd drive and also a replacement keyboard and this thing should be good to go. Maybe a bluetooth wifi chip down the road if I need it.

those are some sexy looking vents..... NOT. :twitchy:
did you use hammer and chisel or something?

what are your idle temps now?

and how long did you run the stress test to reach 60 C?

play some games for an hour with hwinfo64 sensor running in the background, and see the highest temp it registers.
Intel burntest doesn't stress everything as much as games do

last time i used overdrive, it crashed.

either use k10stat, fusiontweaker, or pscheck.

k10stat and fusiontweaker use the same driver, and fusiontweaker has a nicer looking gui.

pscheck is made by AMD, and it's the one I use. I think it's the most polished of the three, and it runs without admin rights.

    And
Overdrive do work, but seem to cause freezing for me.
k10stat and fusiontweaker probably will never get updated
k10stat startup load clock is meh ( process need to start using user account, it does work most of the time). and picking FID+DID is tedious.
fusiontweaker can embed a service but the clock control doesn't work , cannot not drop below p4 or p5.
PScheck do not have clock control I think.

    haha sorry for BS, tl;dr

    Control freak -> k10stat
just want some OC and forget about it -> k10stat/pscheck then fusiontweaker to load
    tech freak -> PScheck

see, so it doesn't work !

pscheck has clock control, and it works very well. As well as k10stat in my experience.

It just doesn't have unganged mode. But stock non-overclocked cpu doesn't run in unganged mode either.
Unganged mode does not save any battery juice.. or if it does, it's negligible

For me, the best thing about pscheck is that I can save the clock settings as separate files, and load them simply by clicking a shortcut with a command line embedded.
The shortcut can also be placed in the Startup folder. No services to run, and other buggy crap.

Its might be posted earlier but k10stats works charm on startup
Create new shortcut, supposing you unzipped it to Downloads folder
    C:\Users\**User'sName**\Downloads\K10STAT154\K10STAT.exe -lp:5 -ClkCtrl:0 -StayOnTray -nw
Now just copy the shortcut to startup folder
-lp =load profile (mine set to load profile number 5)
    -nw=No window
seems to works in a same way as the amd tool
you can save the user created tweaks by backing up .dat file.
