I've been away from the forum for a while, but,as I also got the successful payment e-mail confirmation today,I decided to stop by and see if others got it too.

    As for your request,

    Date: August 2009
    Country: United States
Model: G51VX-RX05(a.k.a. Best Buy White Version)

Others who, like me,live outside the US and ordered online can take solace in this,as the ball is visibly now rolling. It took forever,as my order sat at this annoying "Pending for POP" status until Early-Mid October, but things finally started moving. If everything's rolling for me,it means there's no problem sending an online receipt as a PDF or XPS file format :D .

My order status disappeared today. Was Pending Proof of Purchase (despite my having submitted it twice, by two methods, months ago). Now the box has no text in it and has sort of collapsed. I guess the change at least implies there is somebody alive there.

Sent proof of purchase in October 19th and status moved to "pending for payment" today so it looks like things are starting to move ahead.

Sent PoP on 10/10 and status has changed in "pending for fulfillment". My other order from July 19 has changed in PFF as well, but I've never sent the POP for that one. (?)

This is the future of the world. No longer will humans call, email, or look at a company's faqs for answers to their questions; instead, we will look at facebook and twitter. I encourage all of you to go buy automatic weapons and build nuclear holocaust grade bunkers in your backyards.

Nope - Windows 7 has a transfer program built in if you want to transfer your settings and programs from Vista over to Win7 (just like how Vista did XP). I would come prepared though...
I bought myself a external 500GB Hard drive and backed up EVERYTHING off my G71GX - just in case the transfer doesn't go over well.

@Sahugani: You might want to check your status throughout the day and tomorrow, it seems Asus has woken up from it's slumber and decided to update statuses recently.

Pop in the disc, click custom install, decide on your partitioning scheme, install. bam you have a clean OS with all files moved into the "windows.old" directory. backing up of files is still recommended though. And yes, made in photoshop

haha yea just read it on sevenforums. i didnt know that they all files get backed up into that .old directory, that is awesome! cant wait till it arrives, what was it...nov? dam the wait is gonna kill me.

btw for partitioning schemes, i have it set @ 300GB C:/ and D:/, when i install win7, does it chose how much i want to allocate to C:/ for the windows partition and leaves my D:/ unchanged? Say i want to make C:/ 150GB, can i allocate that space and put it into D:/ to make it a 450GB partition?

cuz when it install win7, it will go on my 300gb C:/ rite...or does it amke a new partition specifically for win7?

I sent my pop via email a few weeks ago and it came back as undeliverable mail. I have printed everything out and will send it via post office return receipt tomorrow. I got an email yesterday that it will be december before the win 7 upgrade kit ships. I don't like it but what can i do except be patient. I bought 2 laptops in Sep, a g71gx for me and a k50ab for my wife. I am getting ready to build a gaming desktop but i am re-thinking the asus components because of this customer service issue.

    below that should be:

"The proof of purchase must include the following information:
o A clear description of the product.
o The product's date of purchase.
o An invoice or receipt number.
    o The product's price.
o The reseller's contact information, and if possible, the reseller's company seal or logo.
o The proof of purchase should also include the product's serial number, if the reseller normally lists serial numbers on their invoices.

You're right this is a totally unreasonable delay and I would say this will certainly guarantee that no one will ever buy a new computer again once an announcement has been made about a new operating system being launched.
Absolutely deplorable service and any responsible company should be totally ashamed of themselves if this is the best they can do.

Strange I didn't get that email as of yet but.....I did call the company that is contracted out by Asus to ship the Windows 7 upgrade kits out, and I was told that my order was complete, and was set to ship within 3 to 5 business days. Don't know if that is a bull story or not, and only time will tell! I sent my original information to them for the upgrade on July 19th, 2009, so it may be that they are sending out the upgrades by way of "first come first serve"....who knows!!!

BTW, the telephone # is 1-909-930-0800 extension 778 just in case anyone wants to call them, and maybe ream them out!! A December 2009 date is completely unreasonable in my eyes as well! Good luck!

I too am also at the Pending for Fulfillment status. I got sick of waitiing for ASUS to confirm my proof of submission I had Bestbuy do a clean install of W7. For those of you who don't know: if you purchased your PC at Bestbuy and is eligible for the W7 upgrade all you have'f to do is pay 40.00USD and show your recipt. They will do the install clean or upgrade and give you the retail edition of Windows 7 32bit & 64bit in the box with the smoke plastic case.

After the upgrade was done alot of my ASUS utilities did NOT work. So I tried to use the drivers disk that was bundled with my G71 and most of those weren't compatible with W7. So I had Bestbuy do a clean install and I downloaded the drivers from ASUS's support page. Everything is all smooth sailing from there.

I too am still waiting for my Free copy from ASUS because I have a ASUS netbook 1005HAB that needs W7 HP.

I hope all of you people(myself included) recieve your copy of W7 Free from ASUS soon as promised.

I forgot to mention that recently I spoke with an agent from mentormediacorp and he assured me that people should start recieving the upgrade within the first week of November. He also said the reason it took sooooo long was because of Micro$oft delaying the discs.

Thanks for the heads up skygunner27, hopefully we will all see our disc before their projected email has mentioned (Dec). I really want to take a stab at Windows 7, loved RC! It's also good to know that if my patience grows real thin that I can get Windows 7 from Best Buy easily.

That file is pretty crappy and kinda wonder about the BBB... an F just because Asus didn't respond to 1 person, c'mon. To tell you the truth, all computer manufacturer's customer service is spotty, so you can't run away from this one. Also, we come to find out it isn't even Asus dealing with the W7 upgrade cd's, it's some company in Taiwan or something.
