That's what this thread is all about - funny how he was so quick to defend the Company's standing with the BBB but didn't bother to provide any details as to when the upgrade disks would be shipped....

Unfortunately, being my home office is US, I do not have logistical information regarding the upgrade program.
I can inquire as to what order batch is being processed, but I do not have access to individual orders to verify which position they are in the queue. -
One question to anyone who knows, since I had to call the distributor to get an email verifying my POP: What's the web address to check the status of your order? I never got the original email with that link.
-
I can appreciate that but can you at least confirm orders will be shipped before the December date mentioned earlier in this thread.

mod please remove link if not allowed. tnx.

asus wont answer my emails and questions. ive sent three emails in the last two weeks and i havent gotten even a single response outside of the "we got ur email, so wait up to 3 working days for the answer"
getting fed up with this. -
we are all going to die before ANY of us get an update!
-
-
-
Yep, thats as far as anyone is at this stage so you should be fine
-
Shouldn't they KNOW there was going to be an overflow of orders and prepared for it? I'm not crazy about getting it ASAP and I'm willing to wait, but just sayn...
-
Its not their fault, its them getting the short end of the stick whilst Microsoft distributes the upgrades, if you want to complain email someone over at microsoft.
-
and...as mentioned, he wont try to skip a question for no reason, obviously he doesnt have enough resources to answer the questions...
and yes, asus is not to blaim, the fulfillment part basically means, "micro$ are being lazy/overloaded and we aint got the upgrade from them yet," therefore they are waiting for micro$ to fulfill the windows 7 upgrade promise.
offtopic/ dammit element, how do u OC @ 610/1000/1625!? i crash within 20sec of 3dmark...my highest is the sig clocks, now i feel even worse, you gotz ultimate temps, ultimate OC abilities, ultimate luck...what dun u got? -
I do not think it is only M$ fault here. Asus needs to create and distribute all those driver disks to the outside provider who must package and send them out. Alot of those drivers became available late september so there are alot of disks to make and distribute. All these disks are besides the top priority ones that have to be packaged with current laptops too, and yes we are second rate where there is current money to be made.
This all falls too that we were never promised timely updates, just updates. Shame on us for not expecting the delay, actually I did but that is because Vista had already taken this bite out of me once before. As they say live and learn, and remember to use your future purchasing power to let the companies know your wrath............ -
Who says the discs weren't already made before they had the drivers available on the support site?
-
I don't think Asus can blame the delay entirely on Microsoft - if you check the Acer board for one, people there have already started receiving their update disks.
-
-
-
mine finally made the jump to "pending for fulfillment" after a few emails, the later of them bordering on rude. but i dont have anything to pay apparently? or is there another stage where i'll end up paying,
yes i know i should have read previous posts but its late and i need some sleep :|
thanks guys. -

Unfortunately, no one is to blame regarding delays. There are numerous steps that we have to take in order to finalize a driver for release, let alone an image ready for press.
For notebook drivers which are received from device manufacturers, it requires to be tested by our engineers, then passed WHQL certification - these basic steps can cause a delay of up to 2 weeks per step if issues are found, Granted the delay is caused by us. Disc pressing and shipping is another possible cause for delay, I cannot elaborate much on it since I don't know the specifics of their processing.
We are doing our best to meet the demands of our end-users, resellers, and distributors within the US and Canada. I am sure our other offices around the world and the doing the same. -
Okay....here's the latest info that I just got by calling mmedia. I was just told that Asus upgrade kits were released last night. Of course I have a reason to be skeptical, but they told me that we should start receiving the upgrades in about five business days.... We'll see if this comes about or not...... Also Asus Customer Care? Thanks for at least posting to keep us updated, it's appreciated. I do have to disagree with you though on your statement about drivers......First of all 99.9% of all Vista drivers work with Windows 7, plus Asus support has the Windows 7 drivers posted on the support download site.....So that being said, I have to dispute your post!
-
Hmm.. maybe I should try for the student upgrade from Microsoft instead, $10 more but maybe I won't have to wait, plus I can get Professional instead of Home Premium.

To remedy these problems tech support told me that I had to install the ATK Hotkey then Direct Console 2.0. It had to be in that order or it would not work. They were right!! The CSR had to find somebody else to explain to them how to fix. These problems were not something that could be fixed by the average tech.
Maybe this info can shed some light -
I don't believe Asus, or the other manufacturers, sincerity though until I see a public anouncement and appology for their error! For this reason those that do not own up will never get a hardware recomendation from me. Essentially if you can't own your problems I will never recomend anyone EVER owning your products........
Edit; I'm sorry "No one is to blame" does not cut it. Ultimately for the drivers it is YOUR responsabilty! All the engineers, publishing, subcontracts, timely release, etc are you, not someone else. Now again I understand it may be "No one issue is to blame" but all these issues ultimately are your responsability!!!!!!!!!!!! -
i herad that some ppl who got the windows upgrade disc didnt recieve the drivers, namely ppl who applied in june and such.
are we getting the discs now...or are we going to have to download it? -

What model do you have again?
I wonder if I should bug them over the phone. My online status is awaiting fulfillment, but I have not received any email from them after sending in my proof of purchase. -
I've got a G51VX-RX05, got it from best buy, and I live in Australia. Hope you guys get the email soon!
-
.On a more serious note,it's just a thought, but it might be possible.U shouldn't get yours delivered after ours if ASUS respected their announced FIFO policy.Perhaps they prioritize the ones who had to pay.
Or another even more outlandish supposition is that different branches of the company are handling different regions,as Australia and India are relatively in the same geographical zone.I make this supposition because I received mine from this address:
[email protected]
Notice the sg for Singapore. If FuniGTR can confirm he got his from the same address, that might be a reason.
All speculation, really. The ASUS rep on here may shed light on this issue. -
Well it is the 6th now, hopefully we will get more the just G51 owners getting their emails.............
-
-
no email yet. G71 owner.
-
I just got an email saying that my Windows 7 Upgrade has been shipped, along with a tracking # Finally!!!!
-
Man, you guys are lucky - It's very surprising that Asus is currently shipping G51 owners their discs first and everyone after...
-
These models below according to Asus were to start shipping 11-6 through 11-16 but I don't see many people here with these models posting they have recieved the emails. I have the listed as U80A64bit(BBY) and no email and still pending fulfilment. So anyone else other than G51 owners get the email yet?

I don't have a laptop, I have a desktop, but when I searched on google about the Asus problems with windows 7 upgrade, this forum came up......sorry if I created any confusion, and good luck with your upgrades.
