    Thanks a lot Auroras.

Eskimos, or Innuits, are native to northern Canada and Alaska. Many of them still live traditionally (except maybe snowmobiles). I think some of them were given their own territory. They broke off a piece of the Northwest Territory or Yukon Territory and gave it to them.

Back to the topic, Eskimos love W3Vs almost as much as they love clubbing baby seals.

UPDATE: Eskimo is considered now to be an offensive term. They prefer to be called Inuits or Innuits. They occupy the Candian Artic and (you were right) Eastern Greenland.

So I hear that Eskimos love W3Vs almost as much as they love clubbing baby seals.

that piece of territory that was broken off is called Nunavut [ :D]
So now Canada has THREE territories...

I'm sure the Inuit love W3vs as much as the next guy... but it's good to note that wireless signals don't diminish as much through ice blocks as they do through wooden walls

I would like to club some baby seals. Do eskimos burn easily?

Asus w3v makes a great bullet proof vest against polar bear attacks.

Canadians were also once called "Mexicans with sweaters" before the US dollar's plunge and the Canadian dollar's rise killed that.

And I think we might even be dropping the price even more... I think asus' email might have had a typo... but either way.. once they'll confirm this wasn't a late april fools days joke.... i'll have them confirm specs, configuration, take detail photos of the palmrest and lid..... and then we'll get on our way to talking to the pre-order customers this weekend..... with units shipping early next week.........

again, that is if this last email wasn't a joke...... I'm with all of you right now, not believing anything till I can have proof.... but basically I got an email restating our order and jusdt asked for us to confirm it.... that only happens when they have proof the systems are atleast at port......

So, lets not get too excited, and see how it pans out.

    Thanks,
    Justin

    ok -

Two comments by asus...... but they didn't "confirm them" with pictures yet or anything in writting.

    1. the palmrest is exactly as it is on our site..... when they said that, they meant that it doesn't have an aluminum palm rest like the V6.... so the speakers are out the front.... I wrote back to tell them to take a picture because the left and right click buttons have to be the darker color and not the more silver look.... i know thats important for a bunch of us.

    2. I think we're looking at 1899...... yeah... go figure. I'm having them absolutly confirm the configuration and price because this is ridiculous.... something isn't right. Because honestly, within the last week, their official price on paper has gone down $200..... so I obviously have to confirm, ram, cpu, hdd, gps, screen... etc.

Anyway... the pre-order's over so no more access points..... but I think they may get here on Tuesday... with more shipments on wednesday and thursday.....

    Thanks,
    Justin

    UPDATE***

    1. One issue... Asus said they look like the pictures on "their" site and maybe not ours (our pictures are from asus)... but the US site doesn't have it up yet and here is the global site: http://www.asus.com/products2.aspx?l1=5&l2=25 ---- funny huh? It's either or.... trying to confirm what the heck they are talking about.

    2. They confirmed the configuration and the price.. so PRICE DROP!

    3. Starting with this unit, and this is confirmed... as long as you don't configure the units, this has a 3 year global warranty on it.

More to follow... I don't know if the batteries and stuff came in with the units.... but I'm checking.

It would shock me If you weren't able to UPGRADE your pre-order...I can't see Justin saying "Nope, you can't add a thing...I don't care how much extra you want to spend, It's just not gonna happen...SUCKA"

When you say the Pre-Order is over, does that mean that this alotment is completely spoken for until the next shipment...or just that since the units are basically at port, that you're not offering a pre-order incentive anymore (wireless access point) with orders from here on out?

If you have some left...what are the chances one would be ready to ship in order to reach a Michigan address by April 22,23 or 24th?
    [8D]

PS, that global site link doesn't work as of right now!

No, and I noticed the images are broken too on the site there.

Maybe I need to convince somebody I know very well - preferably somebody I live with - to buy the W3v! I still have a very powerful crush on that damn computer!

Yeah... suckers.. I got you! Your W3's will be special because you paid more for them!

--- man some people, right? All the orders will be adjusted before they are charged. When I say the pre-order is over, i mean no one else is going to get the access points as that was the gift for holding in there.... now that they are in the states and everything is set..... I shouldn't continue the gift for the people who have nothing to wait for...

I'll be calling all of you this evening and tomorrow if I can... as I know more.

Asus did just confirm this, which will piss of one of you at least... They said to look here: http://usa.asus.com/event/w5v6/index.htm -- If this is correct it means the touchpad surround is indeed lighter than darker.... so, till I have a picture of it or have it here to look at... I can't confirm... but if that throws anyone off, then we'll just cancel the order and there should be no hard feelings.... just let me know.

    J

Now this is some good news Justin. I suppose I'll should wait until things are firmed up and you are contacting the preorder list, but how changeable are the preorders at this point? It's fine if they aren't BTW.

However, now that the units are $200 less than I expected I might like to order an extra power brick for the office or change the shipment method to next day air without losing my #3 spot or access point. [ :)]

From what Asus told me, our pictures are correct in terms of the palm rest..... but the touchpad apparently isn't dark...... it's light.... it contrasts more like the M5's touchpad does.. i guess.

I think the price pretty well overwhelms any issues one could have with the color scheme. That is a damn good price.

I just think it's hilarious that it says "double your enjoyment" and what on earth does that have to do with a laptop, and how on earth can you link a computer with attracting women? I mean, really...

Touche, Justin. American marketing it is.

This is so suspenseful. $200 price drop, 3 year warranty, and all this other stuff. [:0]

I need to know what it looks exactly. For $1899, it just might change my opinion about the whole color scheme thing [lol]. But PLEASE confirm it, pictures when possible is a huge plus.

    Justin,

I think you've made a mistake on your website:

"- All W3v's bought through PROPortable will not be customizable through us. This is a preconfigured package directly from Asus in Taiwan. Under Asus' new warranty guidelines, you will not get an additional year warranty if purchased from a dealer who does not customize the ensemble line of Asus' notebooks. So, that's a total of 3 year's in which you'll be covered by Asus' Global Warranty."

    Double negative there...

Do you mean "Under Asus' new warranty guidelines, you WILL get an additional year warranty if purchased from a dealer who does not customize the ensemble line of Asus' notebooks."

Justin - so is it confirmed that all the specs in your website are still valid (except the price of course). I maybe one of the few that do not really go for the perforations like the v6, so I won't really mind what comes out in terms of the form... Thanks.

Well, Justin called and confirmed my order.

I didn't want the extra RAM since it's not going to be installed for me and it's priced higher than elsewhere, so I had to do a "re-order".

Did you get my email yet Justin? Hope I don't end up getting charged twice + TWO W3Vs...

    Question.....

All of your pre-order guys and gals watching the forum..... First... I only got to talk to oh.. maybe 6 of about 50 of you... so if you read this before you listen to your messages... get back to me, please.

Also, it looks like Asus forgot to order more 330g's.... anyone *on the pre-order list* have a huge problem bumping up to one of the wireless hard drive access point kits (you've got to add the hard drive... but it's basically a 330g that you can then toss in a hard drive and have wireless stoarge if you want) ?

    Thanks,
    Justin

I'm on the phone with Justin now. He says there will be no additional charge for the upgraded WL-HDD. Looks like a sweet deal!

My order is confirmed!! The count down has begun!

Wow, $1899 now? I may be ordering one after all... A comment -that price is curiously close to the W5A ($150 difference) yet with more standard memory, bigger screen, dedicated graphics, DVD writer, larger and faster hard drive. Are they planning any price drops on the W5A?
