What country? If you click on "United States" as the location, N82 series
is not listed under "Multimedia Entertainment".

OK, I've got to ask: exactly how bad is the display for gaming purposes? We're not talking, like, it not being able to run certain games, are we? Just maybe not at the highest settings or resolution?

The only new games I'm likely to be playing are Civilization V, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, anyway - I don't need to run whatever's the next Crysis.

What about the trackpad? Some of the reviews seemed to indicate that the surface isn't smooth. I was wondering if the design on it was actually raised or just a image.

I was wondering... I don't really follow laptop releases too often, but shouldn't there be some kind of noise about the N82 if it were actually going to be available on Saturday? Like, a store getting an early shipment or something? Or some kind of heads-up from Asus? "Hey! It's actually coming out Saturday!"

I have my doubts, but they're not based on any historical knowledge of how laptops debut... just a feeling.

its true, there is no any news of the release... the strange thing is that the n71jv is already on the streets, why the n82jv isnt... :(

Asus is teasing the curiositly waiting customers to make a virtual demand, so that they can set the price at higher side :D

For me, I think the price should not be more than $900 USD as per the released configuration of this with i5 processor.

My guess based on past N81, is that the i7-620 will be around $1200, the past one was around there with special offers and cupon around $1k. If they release i5 version in the US probably maybe $100-150 less, but i doubt on early release it will be $900, as the N61JV is at $899 with a worst gpu/cpu.

I found a figure in Euros for the i5 model which oddly matches your $1200
figure when you convert to dollars and remove the VAT. Perhaps the pricing
structure in Europe is just higher, and we can hope to get the i7 for that here.

So I am a little confused here. Asus and Acer need to think of a easier naming system for all thier laptops.

How much of a dfifference are we going to see from an i5 version to an i7 version?

Do you think the price could be like 900USD?

This seems like the perfect laptop. Long battery life. Good build. Able to play todays games and games like Starcraft2 and Diable 3 int he future. What are comparable alternatives to the N82JV? I keep hearing about timeline?

I've been looking but haven't found anything that has what I want. I'm looking for a 14" laptop, 4 hours battery life, bluetooth, decent quality, and I'd really like it to have USB 3.0.

The Sony CW is close, but the battery life doesn't seem as good as it should and its lacking USB 3.0. However, they do have models with a BR drive that make them pretty appealing.

I saw a review of one Asus laptop with similar texture on the pad and they claimed it did feel like sandpaper and made their fingertip sore. I don't get why any company with a brain would put anything but a perfectly smooth surface on it...

After emailing Gentechpc, I have been told preorders start within a week and the cost is ~1000

" Yes the N82 should be release within a week or two and hopefully

" Should be around $1000, the pre-order page will be up within one week or tomorrow night. :)

    Thanks.

    http://2d.zol-img.com.cn/product/42/769/ce94NjqiSdf0.jpg

Is the keyboard cover (i don't know what to call it. the sheet between the keys.) matte or glossy? It looks matte to me but it is glossy in videos. Which one do you think we will get?

That's a shame. No i7-620M dual core with integrated graphics for the JV. :(

But it's good to see the n82jv won't have any "carbon emissions" :D

??? so hopefully if what Gentech said was true then it should be out this week? http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/456772-official-waiting-n82jv-thread-102.html#post6204508

Wouldn't you want to play everything...

I am in the same boat as thermogenic and i would want to play bfbc2, farcry2 L4D1+2, etc etc ... i know its not going to do it at 60fps maxed but it should play all those games smoothly enough.

Well from what i have read it from owners it does.

Hopefully the N82 should be even better with a better cpu.

In other news - I'm realizing that by the time the N82 ships, other makers will have new products too. So I plan on starting from scratch and looking at what else is out there again before I buy.

This a list of portuguese stores which are accepting pre-orders. Some of these sites say the laptop is already available, but that is simply not true. I´ve spoken with one or two, because I´m interested in buying this model, and they all said they are expecting the N82JV any day now, but they don´t really have an accurate idea as when it will be available.

According to Engadget, Asus will be " launching some new laptops on May 13th". So hopefully this includes the N82...
