another thing, could i buy an asus with german keyboard an phisically change it to US or Spanish keyboard layout???
the german its really annoying...
-
-
The german keyboard is virtually identical to the spanish one it has the same number of keys and many symbols like - . , ; : _ ) ( are in the same keys. Just change the keyboard distribution in Windows to Spanish.
Check Wikipedia for QWERTY distributions and compare, you'll see.
En serio haz eso, yo ya lo tenía pensado -
yes i have tought that... but the most anoying of german layout is that they have the z and y inverted... its a qwertz layout... and then they have the ß and the ä, ö, ë in the region of the ñ... i dont like it... i guess i prefer an portuguese, but the portuguese is a core i3 like the french one (i have seen today that the fnac.fr has the n82jv, maybe spain is next!)...
-
In portugal it's already available in 5 stores.
h*ttp://www.kuantokusta.pt/1/88017/Asus-N82JV-VX038V -
yes, but it has Portuguese layout...
-
Look:
-
You can may be just get stickers if you dont remember the keys
-
i do remember and 3 layouts... but i doesnt like it...
yesterday i got to mediamark, and the told me that they dont know if that version of the asus will be available...
i will wait one week more, then i will buy the n61jq 999 € in mediamarkt... -
careful with mediamarkt... they have many complains about returning products
-
i dont want to return anything!
jejejje..
-
Actually I think going for an IdeaPad Y460 is the best option if Asus does not release this laptop and if you cannot afford the Envy 14. It's got HD5650 and presumably a better screen than the N82
-
the envy 14 will be available in mid june, will you wait that long??
-
Yeah I'll probably wait. I need a laptop for the next 6 years at least and I think that the Envy 14 will suit this. In my opinion spending those extra 500€ are worth the retroiluminated keyboard, the better screen, the better viewing angles, the aluminum unibody and the i7.
BTW, the Envy 14 has i7 right? -

-
Actually that's a good approach too, but shouldn't it be enough with eSATA?
-
what happened to GenTechPC's promise of the N82 being released the first week of May?
-
But for USB 3.0, you will just need to carry a flash drive.
It's not a very big deal though ( at least to me). -
Hey Dios Horus,
do you know if the N82JQ will be released here in spain???
because now, i will for sure buy an JQ... -
-
I don't think they will release it here. I wanted to buy the UL80Vt few months ago and they did not even know of its existance... For some reason companies in Spain do not like to distribute 14 inch laptops... Did you try contacting Asus Spain?
-
no i just asked for the n82jv and they told me that they couldnt event tell me the release date or if they are gonna distribute it... nothing nothig...
anyway, all the information that i found at engadget or so, they only talks of the n82jv, but the n61jv too, and they are selling the n61jq... i dont know... im confuse... -
If you don't mind a large laptop, go for the N61Jq, definetly. The problem is that for that size you may want to start looking at other companies and gaming laptops... Though if you need a portable laptop (what an irony...) I think the best shots you got now are the Asus N82Jv, the Envy 14 and the IdeaPad Y460.
-
yeah, i like portability..
my actual notebook its a tablet from HP tx2110us... but i guess its more important the weight than the size...
-
what 15 inch notebooks are there with 2.2kg and good graphics card?
-
i dont know... n61jq?
-
well that's 2.7kg and screen is low res for 16"...
-
Does N61Jq have switchable graphics? Does the N82 have a version with ATI 5650?
-
-
n61jq only 2 hours of battery??.... hmmm.... i dont like that...
i was thinking it has the same life as the n82jv... -
So, I decided to wait for the N82 and since it still isn't out, I'm going to see what the new HP Pavillion DV5 and Envy 14 are like and probably buy one of those (actually 2, one for the wife). Assuming HP actually ships machines they announce unlike some other vendors. -
My asus N82 was sent today.
I will have it tomorrow or wednesday(problably wednesday).
finally -
well you better make some good benchmarks for us then
congratulations on your buy
PD: If you can do some for Battlefield Bad Company 2 that'd be awesome -
Ok
Battlefield B C 2 it's on my list.
I will benchmark 3d mark and source engine too.
I dont know yet what OS I'm gonna use...
XP pro or 7 x64...
It's a difficult choice. -
Windows 7 with no doubts. It kicks XP's really hard. Performance of multi-core processors boosts like I've never seen before. And note that I was pro XP

Andres bought his Laptop at a Portuguese Shop (Globaldata if i have good memory)... i suppose he lives there
-
Yes, I'm in Portugal.
This kind of stuff hit the market really soon in my country.
But it's still a shame that asus took so long to release it. -
I hope Asus, being an Taiwan company is waiting for ComputeX (June 1- 5) to launch its laptops which are in their PDF file as of now
-
It's on my hand now
I'm gonna format the HDD now since it's full of asus crap. -
jajajaja..
PICS and benchmarks... right now!!!...
I'm so jealous! -
-
Finally we can get some real feedback!
-
sorry for so many questions -
This is actually what I call a good build. The keyboard and the touchpad are solid(good is the right word).
I'm not shore about the screen quality yet. -
Is the touchpad smooth or patterned? That picture looks like it's smooth but everything else has said patterned.
-
It looks smooth but it's patterned to touch. I got myself surprised when I first touched it.
-
What about fan noise? In notebookcheck they wrote that the noise is quite unpleasant and disturbing
