Has anyone from the thread actually received their Vista Upgrade yet? Or do you know someone that received their Vista Upgrade? Just like to find out how long the process took for them.

It would be quite helpful if someone on this thread had received their upgrade, but then the question arises, why would they even be on this thread?

Hi everyone, I just joined the forum after doing a google on this upgrade thing Microsoft decided to make us all jump through hoops to get and found this forum some time ago. I have been monitoring this thread for a while now but wanted to chime in after the email I just received from Moduslink dated today 3-16-07. I have been setting on " Order received " for about a week now after sending in all my info on 12-30-06. This is what the email says...
    To our valued customer,

Thank you for placing your Windows Vista Express Upgrade order. We are pleased to provide Microsoft's newest operating system, which includes exciting new improvements in security, functionality and experience over Windows XP. Gateway is dedicated to providing you with the latest technology and your Express Upgrade to Windows Vista represents just that.

We are currently in the process of preparing your Express Upgrade to ensure your transition to Windows Vista is as seamless as possible. We will begin shipping orders beginning the week of March 26, 2007 for customers who have fully-completed the Express Upgrade process. Due to the volume of orders we have received, it may take several weeks after that date before your order will ship.

So sounds like its still going to be a while before we get our upgrade.

Well, at least that means we should receive it before the 6 week period, as 6 weeks is certainly after May 1. They should upgrade shipping to overnight, or two-day for all the trouble they caused us, considering they already missed the original 6 week deadline.

It's automated. It automatically changes to "Order is received" in the morning or the night before (not sure). In the afternoon, it will become "Order is approved".

Just sent this email to Moduslink:

"I would like to know why our upgrades haven't yet shipped. On your website it says, "The Upgrade Software will ship within approximately 4-6 weeks from the later of (a) the date your have completed the redemption order requirements or (b) the applicable language version of the requested Upgrade Software has been released in your country. The receipt of Upgrade Software is also subject to availability and product supplies." I have completed the redemption requirements as of February 2, 2007. It has certainly been over 6 weeks, meaning you have already missed your deadline. Now you have changed you deadline to May 1, almost 3 months after I completed the requirements. This is Crap! I do not want another one of your templated answers, as I have many times before received. Your customer service is horrible, and I would like that you supply us with another way to get our upgrades or ship our upgrades by next day air or two-day. You will keep missing the deadlines for shipping and the customer gets no benefit, yet if a customer misses the deadline for filling the requirements, you will get a benefit."

    Lets see what happens

Get this guys, I just got a call from Moduslink. And they told me that they were calling cuz someone in Taiwan had the same COA number as me. And the lady was asking where I got my COA from. I told her I got it from the bottom of my notebook and verified that my notebook was an ASUS notebook. Isn't that just great? I had placed this order over a month ago and they are just now getting back to me?
    <rant off>

Sorry I just had to vent. I didn't read through the whole thread but I don't think this has happend to anyone else yet has it?

Thanks for the support guys, Asus called me this morning at work asking what my serial number on my G1 was, and I told him I was at work and could not tell him right now. So hopefully they will call me now that I am home so I can tell them my serial.

And no I do not believe it is a display piece. I ordered it from eWiz.com and the box was sealed nice and tight. So I hope I didn't get jacked.

I just found out what "MEXP" is. They are Mail Express and they have a website, mailexpress.biz (surprised, lol). Well, apparently, your order will eventually be trackable via tracking.mailexpress.biz, and they will hand of the order to USPS. I think they ship from two locations, Illinois and North Carolina, and the order should be received in 4-10 days. Lets see what happens.

I submitted my COA and POP on March 9th Friday, the day I bought my laptop. My COA readily became COA validated after submitting. The status became POP/COA Validated just 3 days after on March 12th Monday. I thought that the process would be fast for me but I was wrong. A week has past but still no change in status .. it is still POP/COA Validated :(

You guys are lucky that you're even getting a status on your order. I got my Sony notebook back in early December, submitted all my paperwork and then it wasnt until March that they decided to tell me I don't qualify (because i didn't circle the qualifying product even though it was the only thing on the receipt).

I've resubmitted everything but since Sony knows nothing then I'm stuck in limbo waiting to see if i qualify or not.

Just wanted to share some dates with the two Acer systems I have requested upgrades for. I didn’t start checking the status of the orders until recently.

    Order #1
Feb. 1 – Submit original request
Feb. 3 – Received email to submit POP, CoA valid
    Feb. 3 – Submit POP
Feb. 11 – Received confirmation email that POP was received
Feb. 27 – Received confirmation that order was validated, ship in 4-6 weeks
    Current status: Order is approved

    Order #2
Mar. 6 – Submit original request
Mar. 7 – Received email to submit POP, CoA valid
    Mar. 8 – Submit POP
Mar. 8 – Received confirmation email that POP was received
Mar. 12 – Received confirmation that order was validated, ship in 4-6 weeks
Current status: Sent to back office

Looking at my dates, things have progressed relatively quickly so I should be pleased. But I’m still bitter I am not allowed to order the 64 bit version of Home Premium and scared from the other posts in this thread.

My order went something like this

    Feb. 4 - Submitted order
Feb. 4 - Received confirmation email, COA validated
    Feb. 10 - Sent POP
Feb. 12 - Received confirmation email for receiving POP
Mar. 19 - Received email validating the order, ships in 4-6 weeks!
Current status: Order sent to Back office

    Few notes:
    - Tossed a few emails back and forth with modus and got nothing but generic responses.
    - Resent my POP twice.
    - The order status jumped from COA validated to Order sent to Back office but it took over a month.
    - Located in Canada

I hope this gives System64 and Watters some hope, POP validated is overrated!

    Hey...

Those who received the Express Upgrade kit, can you tell me is the Vista Installation Disc bootable?

I am thinking about installing the Express Upgrade onto my desktop, and keep XP on the notebook.

Since the notebook and desktop are 2 different brand, I am just afraid that Vista won't allow install on non-OEM hardware.

    Any idea?

This experience, including the notes, is literally exactly the same as mine, with the minor exception of a few dates. Its good to know my experience is not unique. (although mine was COA/POP validated for a few days before Order sent to back office, but it quickly changes)

No, order sent to back office is a good thing. Do not do anything. They are preparing your order for shipping and it should change to Order is Approved in a few days.

Just got this in the email:

Thank you for submitting your order for Windows Vista Business 32-bit CD/DVD OEM.

Your order has been shipped. You should receive your order within 3 weeks. If you do not receive your order, please contact us via email [email protected] by May 1, 2007, for English language versions of the product and June 1, 2007, for non-English language versions of the product so that we may research your request and ship your order.

Didnt take long to go from: Order Approved ---> Order Shipped.
