theres a new bios coming out shortly (as reported by gentech) maybe then the fsb will be increased...
-
I'd go directly with the 6600, the perf difference is pretty much minimal, and you won't perf improvement, except maybe in HD video encoding.

Im... I... then they.... I... I... (no words really)
this has been an emotional rollercoaster, guess it did ship on the first then ...
ill probably have mine by thursday then yay! -
Congrats, hopefully mine will come soon too. -
Hey i'm curious, when did you order? -
-
Just curious -- if I ordered the C90S as default parts and threw in the processor, would I be able to upgrade that processor without voiding the GenTechPC warranty?
-
I'm pretty sure the sure there is no problem. But the warranty covers the barebone + CPU so your new cpu won't be gentech problems
If you the velocity micro, it is another question though -
-
I ordered the 10th of July...
Did you initially order earlier, cancel then reorder, Cancer?
Odd that they would ship a 11 July order Aug 1, when last Monday I called and they said they were working 8 July orders. -
So does anyone know for sure that ASUS is upping the FSB via BIOS? I have already canceled my E6700 order, and would really like to get the cheaper E6750 if possible.
-
anyways what Ken said is that some barebones have trouble and since they are already asigned to a customer then they keep trying configurations till it works (different ram, cpu, etc)... then some others dont have any issues and so they are shipped inmediatly...
(last scenario is that the system still have some issues but they send it anyway because the client keeps asking about it... which i hope its not my case ... I've only contacted them once via email about it..) -
-
Eh. We can alway's wish then can't we?
I was going to order a C90 & parts today, only to find that the server at my work wont access newegg... So I guess I have to wait until either after work when I get to my picky laptop, or tomorrow when I come back to work and "hopefully" able to get to newegg. I would have ordered it earlier today, but my laptop would only let me on my car enthusiast website... gah! Picky computers, I need to upgrade... -
Newegg does not have it...
buy from 1toppc.com -
I was talking about the aftermarket parts. I am already planning on buying the bones system from 1toppc.com.
-
Do you guys think this would work as the hard drive:
http://www.techonweb.com/products/productdetail.aspx?id=D72823&src=NT
And is it worth it to go with the 6700 over the 6600? I wanted to know, since that is a $100 difference at GenTechPC. Thanks! -
No it's not worth it. The 6700 is even discoutinued. Intel does not ship them anymore (The E6750 being cheaper than the E6600 actually).
Wich the 20% overclocking mode and 2.93ghz limit you'll get 70mhz more with the 6700
And yes the HDD will work -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Guys where do u acess the media slot reader? Like after you put a memory stick duo?
-
Windows is supposed to pop it up itself no? According the reader has been installed
-
The MS stick should fit flush. if it doesn't then it is upside down. at least it was this way for my ms pro duo and adapter along with sd card
-
-
I'm going with the E6600 when I'll buy it next month, or the 6750 if they raise the FSB.
So E6600 -
So any updates on that bios release? I called Asus in California and they informed me that the bios are in the beta stages right now, the guy on the phone told me to expect two weeks for a new release.
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
2 weeks?!!1!! Am i the only 1 who experiences crashing while gaming?
-
cant tell you till thursday...
-
Mine does not crash at all.
-
same here, working great
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Sigh, I guess that different version of conroe is true for me.
-
I'm still waiting on mine from Gentech, (Gentech is waiting for the bios update from Asus). I really hope that Asus pumps out these new bios sooner than later and am crossing my fingers that they'll 'alleviate' some of these problems.
-
well this has nothing to do with Gentech but its also about the C90s:
Soon the C90 is also avaible in Germany/Austria and some online store's have listed it. On one of them LINKI found a C90 euquipped with a 512 MB GDDR 3 8600 GT...yes DDR3, so I called them and asked them if they are sure about that. They told me its not a mistake its the same GPU like the one from the Macbook. So what are you guys thinking about that !? -
-
Socket 775 with 800FSP don't support the Conroes and those with 1066 don't support the 1333mhz one.
Maurizio, GDDR3 is not the same as DDR3. Like the Dell Inspiron has the 8600M GT with DDR3 800 so it's exactly the same as DDR2 800. The GDDR3 on the 8600 is GDDR3 1400.
And yes it is the same GPU, the GPU does not include the RAM like your computer's CPU is not your computer's RAM. -
So wait, people about to order from GenTechPC have to wait 2 weeks for the laptop? What if I just get the laptop and the processor? Would that require the BIOS update?
-
There is apparently a problem with intel's new revision of Core 2s and the current C90s BIOS when overclocking. In addition to this problem there is also a problem with it being picky with RAM. Ken was really helpful ( as described everywhere on these forums ) with my questions.
I ordered mine on the 10 July and it was supposed to be shipped today, but I opted to mail my components to GenTech to have them test them and wait even longer. I probably should have just ordered a full unit from them. If some of my components don't work weeeeelll, I lost some money.
GenTech so far A+, Asus so far disappointing =( -
-
Wherever you bought it you'll have to wait. It's out of stock EVERYWHERE
-
Well I just got back from my trip, and the status at Gentech's website says that my laptop has been shipped as of today. I ordered on the 20th of July, and Ken told me that it would ship on the week of the 13th (August). Before I took off though, I e-mailed Brian and made several changes to my setup of the C90s (this was about 3 days ago). So with that said, I don't know if I should be excited or nervous. I never tried to rush this and I wanted them to take their time with the building and testing stages, so I don't know what to expect. I guess we'll see when my laptop arrives
-
-
Ugh... so does that mean that I should just go with the Velocity Micro version? I was a lot more interested in the 3GB of memory, but if it means not waiting a month for the laptop...
Does it void the warranty to upgrade the memory on a VM? -
-
-
-
-
Matt didnt Ken said when a barebone doesnt work they keep trying with different configurations till it does??? And that till it does they wont ship it... And that some others dont have any issues and they shipped inmediatly...
(I mine shipped before a guy that ordered one day before me)
I hope its becuase my config works fine with the barebones i got... -
Btw my config is exactly the same as axl (even the hdd i change my sig since i plan on sellign the disk and buying a 5400 because of the whole 7e00 are too hot issue, course now im not gonna)
Probably a coincidend though -
Could anyone confirm my post? I'd hate to nag, but it's important to me. Thank you!
