I'm not religious, but amen to that!

I'm getting very impatient with Asus here :S if I have to settle for a GS or equivalent it'll be the R500 from LG.
-
Oh my god!!! It's a W3 with a whole bunch of new features!!! X2600!!! Bamboo hinge!!! But... in an F series. I hope the build quality doesn't suffer because of that. It looks a lot better than the A8 too, no offense A8 owners heh.
Someone's gotta review it when it comes out! -
I'm giving this a seriously hard look. If its got an HD2600XT/8600GT, and it runs around $1500, they've got a customer in me.
-
That.. is too much to hope for. I sincerely doubt the presence of a HD2600XT.. I mean what Nvidia did was release some code name like G84M, which might include both GT and GS. ATi on the other hand seems to be pretty explicit in stating HD2600... Don't know though, don't get me wrong, I wish for that to be a 2600XT as much as you, but somehow I have a feeling it won't happen
-
I agree with Stamar, it looks like a A8 with a new lid (and santa rosa inside). Hopefully they've changed the touchpad. Anyone got any photos of the inside?
-
You can see about an eighth of the touchpad and a fifth of the keyboard in the pics on the 3rd/4th pages.
I think there is only going to be one graphics card option on this model, because it is just F8S. The ones that have multiple graphics card options have a letter after the S denoting which card, for example: F3Sv, A8Js, A8Jp, A8Sc and so on. The single graphics card lines (G1s, V1J, etc) only have one letter after the model code. Whether it is ATI or nvidia remains to be seen; I'm not sure whether to believe what could have been a sticker mistake (on the laptop) or what could have been an innocent PR typo/logo mistake (on the info card). -
You can see the touchpad is indented into the chassis.
So it apears to me like they changed it, or I mean used a regular touchpad not the funky one on the a8js. -
-
According to the Chinese article ( http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=116&t=339800&p=1), it is a new line of design. It focuses on modern and sleek design.
-
But that's what every manufacturer says about a new notebook. I do hope that this notebook will have esata2 and all the goodies in the g1s. Although we do know that HDMI is a nogo.
-
The touchpad actually looks like the W3J version. From the bad angle picture you can see the silver trim like the W3J. Maybe I'm just being hopeful. =)
The less they change from the W3J and the more features they add, the better it will be! -
Theres alot that seem to be derived from the W3, the bamboo hinge, the see through LEDs at the front and the lid trim. If anything, I believe they used the W3 lid in the F8, adding a 180 webcam and making it not brushed aluminum. Then they attached it to a new chassis, since the chassis is completely different, the battery is not at the back(therefore allowing ports) and the touchpad is not flush, or so it looks.
There really is a lack of info on this model, Google ASUS F8s and this thread comes up LOL! -
LOL ^.^ but this is certainly something to look forward to.
-
This is what I've gathered from our thread so far. (oh, and if this post is useless banter, please ignore it)
The first picture is of a Asus F8:
The laptop featured with the F8 sign in front of it really isn't a F8.
This F8 will probably have the following specs:
T7700-7500-7300-7100 Processor
Up to 4gb 677mgz Memory
ATI HD 2600 (XT? probably not)
160 HD 5400 RPM
New wireless card
Webcam
Fingerprint Reader
The computer will be priced competatively, perhaps around $1500 if it is just the HD 2600 or maybe $1700-1800 if it is the HD 2600XT (I'm going to be honest, I'm pretty much making that up. But do you guys think it will probably be somewhere in between 1500-1800? I'm hoping for 1500 because 1500 = in my price range, 1800 = outside my price range).
The F8 release date is probably sometime in July (?). Can we get a better source on the release date? (Source: http://www.elitebastards.com/cms/in...=view&id=388&Itemid=31&limit=1&limitstart=9)I think all we have is that the HD 2600 will be released then, so we are kind of assuming that the F8 will be released at the same time. -
dumb question that mightve been answered, but does the F8 have santa rosa?
-
The processors listed are all S.R. chipsets.
-
thanks a lot. i think im gonna pick one of these up as well
-
I'm praying that it will have an 8600M GT and hit a $1500 price point. That would make my day.
-
I'm guess it won't have a LED backlight.

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Not that girl, not hot at all.

Anyone knows when is the F8 going to be released?
-
August, apparently
-
Thanks for the reply.
I am looking for a 14" laptop with Santa Rosa and a powerful graphic card (with not less than 2GB RAM and a decent HD and extras). After googling for some days, my understanding is that the Asus F8 is (or will shortly be) my best choice. Am I right? Will it be worth to wait for the F8 then? Am I missing something, another laptop perhaps?
In the pictures you posted I can see that the screen of the F8 has a big frame (maybe because of the webcam). Would you know how many centimetres smaller is this laptop compared to a 15.4"?
Thanks again! -

He says that that is the F8, but from the picture it looks like a 17 inch screen...
-
If all the specs are right I will definitely be getting one
-
-
Since Computex or whatever is done now, have we gotten any more information on this?
-
So no official word on the F8 or where we may expect to find them? (i.e. Newegg, or only at resellers)
-
Is there no word on the V1J refresh either?
-
Aaaagh i was just about settled on zepto, until i stumbled onto this thread, now i am going to be salivating over the F8 probably until September when they announce it doesnt have an XT at which point i will possibly have to be sedated if not admitted so some form of mental ward. It does look very nice...and i mean the laptop. i wouldnt say no to the girl(first one) but it would be the laptop i took home to meet the parents.
-
Will you people stop commenting on the girl and focus on the laptop? I'm sure there are other forums where the other topic is in greater focus

Speaking of the girls on this thread....
-
Isn't the lappy supposed to be barebones?
-
The C90s and Z37s yes, but I doubt the F8 will be.
-
Sorry if it wasn't apparent but I was making a joke. A horrible joke considering I thought the F8 in the picture was a C90...

She used to be a good girl, we are just trying to talk some sense into 'er, see. A real classy type broad. Somewhere, sometime she made a bad decision, but it ain't too late yet. By god, she is going to eat before the cows come home and 23 skidoo, see.

What Graphics card will the F8 using, and will it be better than the G1S?
Which ASUS model is this?
